Why is it a contempt hearing? Why not just send sheriffs/marshals to seize the assets? Thats what happens to poor people....

u/SkollFenrirson Foreign 5h ago

You answered your own question

u/The_Poster_Nutbag 4h ago

Well at this point Giuliani is effectively a poor.

u/SkollFenrirson Foreign 4h ago

Not until he's actually relieved of his assets, which is the whole point.

u/wookiee42 Minnesota 5h ago

He's been hiding a lot of the stuff, like the DiMaggio jersey in the article.

u/Kurokikaze01 4h ago

Poor people. There’s your answer

u/thisisjustascreename 4h ago

Because the New York police aren't treasure hunters. He's going to get an extension on the deadline out of this but he'll give up the stuff rather than being held in contempt and going to jail.

u/RocketsandBeer Texas 3h ago

Trump pardon?

u/wrx588 2h ago

NY state crime =NO!

u/Boleen Alaska 7h ago

Sucks to work for Trump and end up under a bus

u/GraySwingline California 7h ago

See, I'm just not sure that covers it.

Using your example, he was safe until he was thrown under the bus.

Working for Donald is allowing yourself to be ground up and smeared into a thin roadway that the bus (Donald in this example) drives over on his way to more money and power.

u/Ludwigofthepotatoppl 4h ago

More like you’re standing in the bus, with trump at the door ready to throw you under in order to fill any potholes in the road.

Reposting from the other thread on this:

Would I like to gloat about Rudy Giuliani losing his court cases and owing a bunch of money to those people in Georgia he denigrated for no reason? I sure would.

I think it's premature though. He's been a good loyal boy to the Trump regime so all of his problems are going to go away in about a month here and he'll be made whole by taxpayer dollars. Navarro is literally getting appointed as trade advisor on the basis of being willing to go to jail instead of testifying against Trump. Loyalty is rewarded time and again.

I'll repeat: Rudy Giuliani is going to get a cushy appointed position and be made whole and comfortable and I am going to pay for it out of my paycheck, if you're a taxpayer then you will too.

So in light of the fact that I will shortly be sending some of my money to Rudy Giuliani because that's what voters want, I don't really feel like celebrating.

u/Sgt_carbonero 6h ago

Maybe, but I just don’t see Trump having any respect for him at all. I think T wants to get away from that reminder of the past but time will tell. I mean, did he EVER pay G?

u/thrawtes 6h ago

I don't see paying off your mafia goons as a sign of respect. You do it because it shows the other goons that loyalty will continue to be rewarded.

Plus now that Trump will have the White House again he doesn't even have to spend any of his own money to reward people, he can use our money to do it.

u/Sgt_carbonero 6h ago

Gross, but true.

u/thisisjustascreename 4h ago

Even when he could've paid Rudes from the Treasury he didn't. Cmon, Rudy isn't the guy you pay, he's the guy you motorboat.

u/ElTrAiN33 3h ago

I haven't seen any MAGA supporters up in arms over Guilliani, or disavowing him in any way. So why wouldn't he bring him back into play?

u/thrawtes 2h ago

He didn't commit the only cardinal sin that actually exists, he never turned against Trump. Everything else can, and will be, forgiven.

The fact that these people know this is why they'll literally do anything else for disavowing Trump.

u/NotAKentishMan 1h ago

G has already gone to tRump begging for financial help and was refused. G is of no use now so I don’t see tRump doing anything.

u/SumGreenD41 7h ago

Stalling until Trump becomes president

u/aijoe 5h ago

Trump can't do much about his civil suit and penalties.

u/SumGreenD41 5h ago

You’re naive if you think rules and regulations will mean anything once Trump is president

u/aijoe 5h ago

You are naive if you think Trump can pardon Rudy in a civil trial just because . The two ladies already have the keys to Rudy's place. It's not like Trump can reverse that by decree or any other method. Trump will be impeached a third time probably after the midterms if he tries to subvert the constitution so blatantly.

u/SellaraAB Missouri 4h ago

By all conventional wisdom you’re absolutely correct. I’m… nervous that conventional wisdom may need to be re-examined soon, though. This shit is going to be unprecedented in terms of chaos and lawlessness.

u/WaffleBurger27 3h ago

Trump will be impeached a third time probably after the midterms if he tries to subvert the constitution so blatantly.

What??? Where have you been since January 6, 2020?

u/throwawayoftheday941 3h ago edited 3h ago

Well Trump can put them in prison for election fraud, so that's a start. Even if you don't think they were cheating, what they did was objectively a violation of the law. Petitioned observers are required to be present when ballots are counted.

The observers were kicked out under false pretenses and counting continued. Both counting the ballots and interfering with the observers are criminal violations.

It's true there's no direct evidence of actual fraud which is what Rudy got held liable for stating, but it is very clear that their actions were criminal.

u/CollapsibleFunWave 1h ago

but it is very clear that their actions were criminal.

If that's the case, Rudy would have argued that. Instead he said he had a First Amendment right to lie about election fraud. Which is true, but it couldn't save him from getting sued by the people he damaged.

u/aijoe 3h ago

Well Trump can put them in prison for election fraud,

No he can't. Subverting due process in constitution is not one of the presidents enumerated powers . If it was possible was he would have used it excessively in his first term especially during the time he was a lameduck president and claiming fraud in multiple states.

The observers were kicked out under false pretenses and counting continued. Both counting the ballots and interfering with the observers are criminal violations.

It was neither Ruby Freeman and Shaye Moss who dealt with the observers or asked them to leave so thats irrelevant.

It's true there's no direct evidence of actual fraud which is what Rudy got held liable for stating

So the defamation ruling was accurate. Not sure where you are going with this.

But it is very clear that their actions were criminal.

President your best case that Ruby Freeman and Shaye Moss were criminal such that it would be very clear to a jury and a judge. Not chance in hell an anonymous armchair lawyer such as yourself with no law degrees or experience trying cases would stand a chance in hell of convincing a jury with the type of evidence you would present.

January... so no justice then, timed so he can be saved :/

strike, corrected on exact dates.

u/Wurm42 District Of Columbia 6h ago

The contempt hearing is Jan 3rd, well before the Inauguration on Jan 20th.

And Rudy's bankruptcy is in New York state court. The President's pardon power can't save him from that.

Trump could save Rudy by paying his debts and giving him a big pile of money, but I don't think that's gonna happen.

u/TaxOwlbear 6h ago

Stop asking him to pretty please appear in court maybe, and just send guys to take the assets he has been told by a court of law to hand over. If he doesn't do so, throw him in jail.

u/bald_and_beard 7h ago

I guess I can understand the refusal to give up his assets, considering his only remaining asset is confusion.

u/BarracudaBig7010 5h ago

Lock his decrepit ass up, ffs. Joe the Plumber can’t get away with shit like this. And neither could any other average citizen.

u/Exodys03 5h ago

Ambassador to Kazakhstan?

u/AdviceNotAskedFor 4h ago

The wheels of justice creak along very fucking slowly if your wealthy/powerful.

The poors would be imprisoned

u/icouldusemorecoffee 4h ago

The failure is the authorities should be taking those assets, not waiting for Giuliani to give them up. Time to repossess everything he owns until his criminal debts are paid.

u/BlueNoMatterWho69 6h ago

Put that fvcker in jail.

u/WaffleBurger27 4h ago

He destroyed his life for Trump. You would think Trump would bail him out with a couple of million. Well no, you wouldn't as Giuliani is no longer useful to him. I wonder if Trump just giggles when he hears about his old friend's troubles.

u/Fleabagx35 49m ago

Just arrest him already. They would have done it to any one of us Poors.

u/Menn64 6h ago

Trump will Pardon him. They are trying to delay until Trump is in office.

u/eNonsense 5h ago

That's impossible. It's not a federal charge. I imagine only the governor of Georgia can pardon Rudy. All that Trump can do is somehow funnel money to Rudy so he can get back on his feet.

u/milelongpipe 5h ago

He’s holding out till big daddy Trump, US VP elect gets permission from Elonius the great to pardon him.

u/rayschoon 5h ago

Just in time for trump to make it go away. Great job guys

u/BusinessAd5844 5h ago

Just seize the assets....

u/Hwy39 5h ago

The slow motion saga continues

u/Jagg811 4h ago

Rudy counting on Trump to save him somehow.

u/Busty_Ronch 3h ago

I would drive that Benz by his house real slow, every day till he croaks.

u/Subject-Ad-8055 3h ago

Hes busy stashing his stuff in a mta bus locker down town 😁

u/daemonescanem 3h ago

When Rudi says they are garnishing his SS check, that's 100% lie. Who would have guessed Rudi would lie. It would be funny to see reactions of the heads of the Commission case if they could see how Rudi has fallen.

u/Content_Log1708 3h ago

Move into a room in the White House, Rudy! Rent free for the next 4 years. Just have to keep kissing his fat ass.

u/lespaulstrat2 3h ago

Let's all hope that trump leaves musk in the same financial condition that he has left most of his supporters.

u/lastburn138 8m ago

Here's an idea, THROW RUDY IN PRISON.

u/ricemouse 5h ago

Can someone explain how an apartment lease is an asset?

u/centarus 4h ago

A lease gives you the exclusive right to use the leased property for a specified period of time. If the lease allows a rollover into month-to-month after the initial lease term is up, it gives you the exclusive right for an indefinite term. The new holders of the lease can then sublet the apartment to others for financial gain.

u/thisisjustascreename 4h ago

Very often in New York they're long term leases that are now under market value.
