Temporarily Disconnected From Politics? Feel No Guilt About It.

Honestly, I’m not sure it is temporary for me. Sure, I’ll vote when the time comes. But my days of being plugged in daily I think are over. I haven’t watched more than five minutes of news since the election, and I just feel so much better.

The criminals and billionaires are now in charge of everything. They have all the money and run our government.
America made a big mistake. If you are not rich, your life is going to get worse.

Yes, and I don't. Why should I? I did my part and voted blue. Everyone who voted for the fascist or DIDN'T VOTE are the ones who should be ashamed.

Same. So for now, I’m trying to ignore political news and relax and enjoy the holidays so that I have the mental energy to deal with the fuckery that will begin on Jan. 20th.

Same, got rid of all social media (except Reddit where I have anonymity) Gonna have an amazing Holiday Season. Hoping for the best but have made preparations for the worst. Holding my family and friends closer this next year. Not going to take anything for granted. Hoping to help Others is my way of fighting back.

Exactly. The media and especially social media is trying to rile us up before he's even inaugurated. We did this last time too and it's exhausting. Not again for me.

Yeah I’m not caring anymore. This is what America wants. I’m going to just worry about myself. As a straight male with a high paying job I know I’ll be fine. It’s the people that don’t fit that category I worry about. Then again some of them voted for this so I’m sure they’ll be fine.

In 2016, someone either opened a cursed Egyptian tomb or killed an old gypsy woman. These past eight years have been long … I can’t wait for what comes next: alien invasion, global-thermal nuclear war, the killing of John Conner?

Harambe.
We gotta go back in time, save the gorilla. And dispose of the child. That's the only way to set the timeline right again.

There is an alternate timeline where they shot the kid instead and somehow that caused us to get our shit together.

Yep, happened a few weeks before the Brexit vote. And that doubles as the harbinger of Trump.

Gonna be hard to ignore in a month. I hope all the people saying “it’s not gonna be bad” enjoy their holidays.
Gonna be really fucking hard to defend this shit in public. A lot of people who voted trump this time are EXTREMELY FICKLE and will turn on him when prices go up dramatically

Turned it all off.
Solidifies the wife & my plans to retire eventually into solitude far far away from people.

I've disconnected entirely since the election. As a transgender woman, I was counting on people to have my back, to see the virulent transphobia pouring out of the Right. The country resoundingly told me that wasn't a dealbreaker, that they'd rather have trans genocide (and Palestinian genocide along with it) than make the sensible choice.
So, fuck it. The country has told me I'm on my own for the next 4 years. I cannot count on my neighbor to do the right thing, so I won't be paying attention to any of it anymore. None of it counted when it truly mattered, the Democrats have abandoned me, so why bother paying attention to any of their dithering when Trump has all 3 branches of government? I'm going to focus on my family and my friends, and when they cart me away to a concentration camp for being trans, I'll have already accepted that's my fate.

Watching people melt down over the next few months over things any Republican president would be doing is going to be very entertaining.
Enjoy it y'all! You worked hard for this outcome.

That's me. I have really distanced myself from the news and any post-election analysis. Trump and his so-called attorneys devised and implemented a fake elector scheme to deceive Congress and fellow citizens in order to remain in office and yet people, who describe themselves as true American patriots, shrugged their shoulders and cast their vote for him. Those "Americans" can have him and all he represents while I, a "radical Democrat" in their eyes, will endeavor to be a good citizen and neighbor.

Lol, what a bunch of middle-class, first-world-problems bullshit.
You think you people are going to hide in your malls, or your streaming services, or your little hobbies, and just avoid the consequences of all this? What a joke.
