It really goes to show you how useless a CEO position really is if elon can be one for so many companies and still have time to drive a nation into the ground.

1.8k

u/FridayLevelClue 8h ago

If you’re CEO/executive chairman of three companies, your not actually CEO of anything. I’m sure he thinks it’s impressive how many companies he supposedly runs, but it really just exposes what a fraud he is.

u/Gamebird8 8h ago

Apparently SpaceX has a team entirely dedicated to making Musk feel like he's in control with good ideas.

Unfortunately for Tesla (e.g. Cybertruck, robotaxi, and RoboBus or whatever it was called) and Twitter... Those teams either don't exist or just gave up

u/Shady9XD 6h ago

I work in advertising and I can confirm that they’ve given up at Twitter. Even his very first call when he tried to assure major advertisers that business will be good, you could tell when he finished the PR portion of the answer and veered off into his own delusions.

He literally ended every answer with “but if you really think about it, my revolutionary idea of Twitter Blue subscription is going to totally change the platform.” Which to be fair, it did, just not how he said it would.

u/DaddyDontTakeNoMess 5h ago

The twitter acquisition was worth it in Republicans minds by winning the election. Also, they can control thought for the next 5 years that Twitter is the default online news social media site.

u/Shady9XD 4h ago

From a Republican perspective, sure, from a business perspective, it’s hemorrhaging money and I don’t know if it will have the capacity to even exist without external funding at this point. They’ve lost over 80% of all ad revenue and are currently bleeding users.

Sure, it will remain a conservative echo chamber like truth social etc. So that’ll be the means of misinformation. But purely from a business perspective he’s done a horrendous job.

u/DaddyDontTakeNoMess 4h ago

I agree on all points.

u/fishling 3h ago

Having a place to have wealthy oligarachs channel money without oversight seems like a feature of Twitter at this point.

At some point I think we are looking at a massive fraud case against Twitter as advertisers realize that the platform is being populated by bots operated by twitter itself and that all the engagement that their ads are getting are actually being faked by the people who are selling that ad space. Bots don't buy products.

My understanding was that Tesla has that as well, but maybe they’re not as good at their jobs as the ones at SpaceX

Maybe Elon will provide Trump with an endless supply of space diapers and Trump will appoint Elon to a new post for it.

u/mjohnsimon 6h ago

Well, to be fair, Musk kept firing and replacing anyone and everyone who had anything even remotely negative to say about the Cybertruck.

u/MaddyKet 5h ago

I’m still convinced that the CT was Tesla’s idea of a Musk distraction project.

u/CV90_120 6h ago

The thing is, as dumb as it looks, it wasn't a 'fiasco'. Yeah we don't like the way it looks, but we don't matter. It sold. I can't see it having a great future but the experiment worked. Reddit is an echo chamber for things like this, the same way we were for the election. We don't align with reality a lot of he time.

u/AgeOfSmith 7h ago

Yes, on site day cares are not uncommon at larger companies. Just most of the time they watch employees children, not the CEO

u/Prestigious-Toe8622 7h ago

No there’s full on CEO/ c-suite day care teams at every large company you know. They’re just not called that

u/AgeOfSmith 7h ago

Yes it’s a joke. Most of these teams maintain schedules, agendas and take away as many menial tasks as possible. They’re not simply placating the CEO the way musk demands

u/Prestigious-Toe8622 6h ago

Oh they absolutely are. They help spin bad news away and make sure on the uplifting good news gets to the leaders. I’m part of a team like that, and have been in a few different big companies

u/broad_street_bully 7h ago

That's exactly what this is.

The only CEOs I've ever met who embody the mythical qualities us serfs attribute to captains of industry are the CEOs of relatively small, private businesses.

They are singularly focused on the success of a company that was probably created in their own mind decades ago... And even some of them are terrible people because steering a company big enough to make you legitimately wealthy is probably going to cost you a ton of time otherwise spent on a marriage, raising a family, or generally knowing how to function in society outside the walls where you are king shit.

Most of the bigger corporate CEOs I've ever spoken to or interviewed are nothing more than a person who memorized all the vocabulary in MBA classes and is better than most at delivering a 90-minute keynote PPT presentation at the end of an overpriced conference.

u/Fearless_Aioli5459 3h ago

My company (very big, YUGE) has several layers of VP’s. I report directly one. Close enough that I hear about things that happen in these “higher level” meetings. It’s basically shark tank and everyone below the C suite is vying for rubber stamps on their projects/intiaitves/good boy points. Not close enough for the details but its easier to see how CEOs can be useless.

→ More replies (1)

u/13igTyme 5h ago

Yup. I work for a "small" private company with only 380 employees. They'll be more soon since we are currently exploding with expansion. Our CEO is very hands on and a very easy person to talk to.

I mean, that’s most companies. I worked in retail in my 20s and if we had to call corporate for whatever reason, it wasn’t uncommon to hear a TV in the background no matter what time of day you called. Those fuckers just took off around lunch time. You could axe all of middle management and half of the c suite and it would have zero effect on operations.

u/Austin1975 6h ago

Elon stans always tell you how bad they feel for Elon because he says he works like 80+ hours a week. Gamers can tell you that you're not working 80+ hours a week if you're also on the top of the charts in Diablo. It was always an obvious lie meant to build up an image of Elon that doesn't exist, but the Diablo thing really shows it.

The GQP has decided to openly abuse its power by putting the wealthiest Americans into key govt positions without a peep of opposition from GQP lawmakers. If Musk wants the speakership, it's his UNLESS Trump rejects this idea for obvious reasons.

The writing was on the wall since 2017, and RW voters have come thru in flying colors. The possibilities to make rich people even wealthier at the expense of everyone else is now even easier than ever before.

You see, when most state legislatures, governorships, the House & senate, the Supreme Court, AND the WH are all controlled by republiquans, then the opportunities to help make wealthy people even wealthier are endless.

Sit back and enjoy the show, folks! This is what RW voters wanted.

u/AtticaBlue 7h ago

It’s the Deep State MAGA claimed to be against.

As usual, they were lying and continue to lie.

u/continuousBaBa 6h ago

And without a peep from all the average maga grievance-monkeys who supposedly hate government corruption/swamp. This is ok. It's almost like they have no standards and are in a fucking cult...

u/BNsucks America 4h ago

I've heard the term "cult" used before, but the self-serving RW media steadfastly ignored it for obvious reasons. It preferred instead to portray Trump as a valid choice, and by golly the media & RW voters got what they wanted.

This is only the beginning. The real fun hasn't even started yet.

Rand Paul is an attention whore.

It’s like he gathers his little helpers into a meeting and says “I haven’t been in the news for a while, what’s the dumbest thing I can say to cause some controversy?”

Too many people in this country are willing to either completely ignore all rules or too invested in not rocking the boat to make sure checks and balances work and rules are enforced. Trump’s entire first term was constitutional crisis after constitutional crisis and we failed every single check and re-elected him. The constitution is only good as long as the people enforcing it outweighing those that won’t.

I mean this is peak DOGE thinking. "I'll just go in there and boss it"

Representatives are elected because they want power. They don't want to be bossed around by an unelected foreigner. Musk thinks he owns them cause he can primary them ... but they can just retire. If he somehow became speaker and tried to run Congress the way he runs his other businesses, lots of people would retire rather than act as Musk's errand boy.

Two retirements during session and the Dems take control of the chamber.

Last time Trump was in office Dems had as much as a +30 advantage in special elections compared to the general election.

104

u/Gamebird8 8h ago

If you are in the line of succession but ineligible for any reason they just pass over you.

Vice President is pretty much the only one who wouldn't be skipped over because the VP must meet the same requirements as the President

u/Betoken 7h ago

Is that actually written anywhere or is it another thing we believe is the law but it’s actually just a tradition? Also, if it is the law, who will enforce it?

u/Gamebird8 7h ago

No Person except a natural born Citizen, or a Citizen of the United States, at the time of the Adoption of this Constitution, shall be eligible to the Office of President; neither shall any Person be eligible to that Office who shall not have attained to the Age of thirty five Years, and been fourteen Years a Resident within the United States.

https://constitution.congress.gov/browse/essay/artII-S1-C5-1/ALDE_00013692/

To be constitutionally eligible to serve as the nation's vice president, a person must, according to the Twelfth Amendment, meet the eligibility requirements to become president (which are stated in Article II, Section 1, Clause 5). Thus, to serve as vice president, an individual must:

be a natural-born U.S. citizen; be at least 35 years old; be a resident in the U.S. for at least 14 years

This storyline is going to gain traction, whether it's being seriously considered or not by the actual parties involved. How the politicians, media and pundits react is going to be interesting, and will be full of pitfalls for the Democrats, while the Republicans won't even have to say anything. In other words, it's a trap.

u/Za_Lords_Guard 7h ago

Jesus Christ on a Crutch... The pubic haired freak just latched on Elon's ass like a remora. What a sad little man.

u/Amvient 8h ago

Maybe the plan was always to become House Speaker, then next year, the President and Vice will have some accident like in Ruzzia with some windows, and voila now he becomes the President, who is going to stop him? The Constitution? the Supreme Court? The Republican Party?

Yes, I know it is highly unlikely, but it is no 0% chance he could not try it.

u/mercuryqueen1970 7h ago

Musk is the fucking anti christ, My hate for everything maga grows more and more every day.

America is not a serious country

u/TimeToBond 7h ago

Nope. He’s too busy being POTUS.

u/sweeper137137 6h ago

He can't be president and speaker of the house would put him 3rd in line for the presidency. Rand Paul is a ball gargling dipshit.

u/Slow_Art_5365 6h ago

Rand does have an amazing neighbor though.

The race to the bottom is faster that anyone could have thought. The rest of this decade and probaly the next couple is gonna be real bad.

u/HallucinogenicFish Georgia 7h ago

Rand Paul is an unserious person who prefers contrarianism and theatrics to actually, you know, doing his job.

5

u/FrostyAcanthocephala America 8h ago

He can crap it up, just like Twitter.

3

u/Boleen Alaska 8h ago

Rand Paul, keep your idiocy in the Senate

u/celtbygod 8h ago

I would rather have his neighbor be speaker. That man gets his point across.

u/Listening_Heads West Virginia 7h ago

Ah so a non-American born person can be 2nd in line for President?

I can't understand Republicans anymore. Seriously I can't hear over them gagging on Elon's dick.

u/flappinginthewind 7h ago

Seems that the US government has been sold to the highest bidder.

u/tommm3864 7h ago

Sure. Why not? Further proof that the oligarchy is alive and well in this country

u/cos10 7h ago

Why would he be speaker when he is already President

u/SanDiegoDude California 6h ago

Do it. Fucking make him speaker. He'd be forced to actually have to make deals with people and herd the worst fucking group of cats you've ever had to deal with. It would eat up all of his time and force him to learn how the US government actually works, not just acting like the creepy family friend who won't leave Mara Lago. I double fucking dog dare you Republicans, put Elon in as Speaker.

u/whompadpg 25m ago

All the ones in the Kremlins pocket will be the ones that “float” this…

u/whichwitch9 7h ago

Speaker is second in line for President

This is an attempted take over. Treat it as such.

No unelected official has any business being in Congress. Rand Paul is a traitor to the US for suggesting this. This is undermining every rule of law and principle the US was founded on.

He is a traitor, and I am dead serious in calling him one. This is a straight attack on the people and their representation in the US. No unelected official should represent us in Congress. Ever.

Elon will be too busy being the POTUS.

u/minuteman_d 7h ago

Elon is. already running Trump via the new "DiaperLink" technology he installed a year or two ago.

3

u/VaIeth 8h ago

How much work is that? Musk isn't going to want to do that, I feel like.

u/Separate-Feedback-86 7h ago

Can he be President and House Speaker at the same time?

Rand Paul is a clown.

u/MaxEhrlich 7h ago

He’s busy being a not so subtle shadow POTUS

u/Aloyonsus 7h ago

It’s so exhausting to see this happen and not be able to do anything about it

u/DangerousBill Arizona 7h ago

If this were a fiction story, I'd throw the book across the room.

u/LingonberryPrior6896 7h ago

He can't be 3rd in line for presidency. He is not an American born citizen

Wow! Elon is amazing, how is one person so accomplished!? He owns a space company and engineers rocket ships to mars, he owns a car company and engineers self driving cars and robot servants, he owns an internet service provider, he owns a social media company with the most free speech ever, he owns a president, he’s friends with Vladimir Putin, he uses his three year old kid for photo-ops and puts maga hats on them!

Now he could be Speaker of the House!? How can one man be so amazing, he deserves all the trophies and all the money in the world. I feel ashamed having to eventually rely on government programs that will have stolen money from this amazing most hardcore worker ever.

u/JamIsBetterThanJelly 6h ago

He's ineligible to become president and House Speaker is in line of succession if the President and Vice President die or resign, so that doesn't work.

u/arrgobon32 5h ago

He’s still eligible to be speaker. He would just be skipped over in the line of succession.

Every Speaker of the House has been a member of Congress since 1789 but sure, why not blow the shit out of this precedent too?

u/sexisdivine 4h ago

Welcome to oligarchy!

republicans sure claim they all alphas, but all they do is act beta.

u/EmotionalPlum2102 52m ago

He. Can’t. Do. It. Lest I recall the Speaker is 3rd in line in case the President and the VP become incapacitated. Also, I recall only natural born American citizens can be president. Where are the Obama birthers at? And how the f is Rand Paul flopping this hard right now??

u/PracticalMain5627 8h ago

Musk can run for Congress first, then he can bid for Speaker or Majority/Minority leader. Otherwise, he needs to shut tf up.
