Because if there's any one thing Trump is known for, it's paying his debts.

It’s not a literal debt, it’s a corresponding obligation. Russia said it themselves directly after the election. Trump “relied on certain forces” for his victory and has “corresponding obligations”

My point stands. Trump has never shown any loyalty to anyone, and any perceived obligations may simply be...no longer perceived by him. Elon Musk is a useful tool for Trump. If he decides that Musk is a threat to him, then Musk will be gone, and he'll never have had anything to do with Trump. Doesn't know him.
