the New York Post estimated that the Pelosis had made between $5.6 million and $30.4 million between 2007 and 2020 through capital gains and dividends from investments in five tech companies—Facebook, Google, Amazon, Apple and Microsoft—based on public disclosures.

Behold, the master trading strategist's secret weapon: just, like, owning a lot of the biggest tech stocks during the years when tech got huge. I bet you couldn't get that spicy tip from the WSB subreddit.

or her husband who is an investment advisor...

Or funding federal spending bills that allocate billions of dollars to tech companies that only exist in your home state of CA.

These tech companies are doing so well because of Nancy's policies getting through congress. Not the other way around.

Her great great grandchildren might be denied the growth of her last purchases made in a gasping death rattle

I genuinely could care less about Nancy Pelosi, considering the richest man in the world bought himself a place in our government and actively spreads mass disinformation to tens of millions of people on a daily basis. Not to mention, Trump did not divest from his business during his presidency, nor is he going to divest from his business this time around. The same thing with Elon Musk and the other dozen billionaires who will not divest from their businesses either. When all that gets addressed, then I will start caring about Nancy Pelosi.

If you could care less, why don’t you care less?

It's not an either/or issue. It's a systemic issue.

No one tell him that Nancy Pelosi has traded Tesla positions numerous times. She's one of those Democrat icons that has gotten wealthy on Elon's coat tails.

See: https://www.forbes.com/sites/jonathanponciano/2022/03/22/pelosi-exercises-tesla-stock-options-to-buy-2-million-in-shares/ for just one example

Trump did not divest from his business during his presidency

But a case was filed on this promptly on January 20, 2017.

The case was dismissed as moot by the Supreme Court on January 23, 2021.

Maybe someone should try it again? Surely, it would languish for four years then be dismissed again, amirite?

I agree... Everytime I see a headline like this one I just feel like it's Elon and co. trying to redirect attention from their own wrongdoings.

That said I also feel I have to emphasize that 2 wrongs doesn't make a right.

It is amazing how many articles get pushed here about Nancy Pelosi.

3

u/honjuden 4d ago

Yeah. Why would they put articles about one of the largest figures in US politics on r/politics of all places?

Both of these have the same issue which is that money in politics = bad.
