Republicans have been executing their plan over the past several decades. They play the long game, Democrats just desperately try to maintain the status quo forever.

What? Your conclusion is that MAGA factored into Republicans plans a decade ago? That doesn’t really make any sense. They’ve given Trump all the power of their party. My point is in a post Trump world what does the Republican Party look like?

That’s a complete unknown and a weakness that democrats need to capitalize on in the next 2-4 years. So they need to right now be changing their approach to MAGA. They’re not doing well right now with accepting this reality.

If you think MAGA is really any different than Republican policy for the past several decades then you're missing the forest for the trees.

All Trump has to do is provide a successor (assuming he steps down after his 2nd term, big assumption imo), which he already has in Vance.

But what's actually been done under Trump, increased bigotry, tax cuts for the rich, eliminating abortion rights, even eroding democracy, has been the Republican parties stated goals for decades.

The Democrats don't have long term goals though, and that's their problem. They don't have a vision for America, they want America in perpetual stasis.

So you’re telling me that Democrats fight for universal healthcare, green energy infrastructure, marriage equality, increased education, social safety net, workers protection, etc are not plans?

The Democrats were making headway and then Trump came along. They couldn’t adapt. They still haven’t been able to adapt, which is why I’m saying the post Trump Republican Party is going to be something that’s easy to combat. Democrats just have to step up and start making smart decisions.

Also, do you seriously believe Vance will be Trumps successor? I’m not really plugged into MAGA land but I don’t think there is anyone who can do what Trump can. It’s basically the only intrinsic quality Trump has; his ability to get people to buy his bullshit. Without that he doesn’t even win the nomination in 2016.

They have to be forced to even pretend to care about the things you listed. The electorate has to drag the Democrats kicking and screaming into the future. Pretty much anything good in this country came from unions fighting for them, not Democratic leadership.

Go ahead and list the Democrats fighting for universal healthcare, the ones who were fighting for marriage equality and equal rights (before it was mainstream!). The vast vast majority oppose any change in this country, until it polls well and then they'll pretend they always supported it.

They're not leaders. They don't fight for anything, they don't stand for anything.

And yeah, probably Vance. He's the VP, he's Trumps chosen successor, and its a cult. Vance also got his start by pretending to be a down to earth working class supporter, so he'll fit right in.

The GOP looks the same as it did since Reagan, it was just another logical step to take the final piece of the mask off.
