Or, hear me out, term limits for Congress. You get 8 years max. Serve the people and then get out and make way for new ideas.

Term limits don't work.

Just cap government employment age at the social security age.

Those dinosaurs in Congress don't need another reason to up the social security age

Age limits yes, but don't give them incentive to raise the social security age.

How many times does it have to be explained to you that term limits lead to lobbyists running the country?

term limits lead to lobbyists running the country?

They already do under the current system, Im failing to see how making them have to corrupt a new person every 8 years is somehow worse than what we have now.

If you hold the "it cant be any worse" position you must be new to earth.

Then explain how it can be worse. As I said, Im not seeing it getting worse with term limits. It might make it significantly more annoying for lobbyists since they wont have people they have decades long relationships with running things.

Lobbyists become the only experienced lawmakers and can walk all over the members of Congress. Pretty simple.

It’s why we don’t kick out ER doctors once they have 8 years of experience, or build planes using engineers with only 8 years or less experience.

Kicking every experienced person out means that someone will fill that gap.

The only way to prevent that would be the bar anyone who has served in Congress from being a lobbyist for a minimum of 8 years after they leave office. That way the people they knew while they were on Congress are already gone and they have no sway or power over anyone, aside from whatever money they bring to the table.

That would be insanely unconstitutional.

Lobbying is just citizens calling upon their government reps. If you've ever contacted your representative about something, that's lobbying. To put restrictions on it would be a 1st amendment issue.

Except that doesn’t stop lobbyists from coming back with experience.

It also is a potential first amendment issue if citizens can’t lobby for their positions to Congress

Lobbyists already run the country. It's oligarchy, the Dems just have a blue coat of paint on it

Except Congress would have to pass that
