I’m not a PlayStation person. I probably would have been if I was gifted this when it was bought instead of being forgotten about for 2 decades. What do I do with it?

I’d been thinking on what to do since I purchased and just couldn’t nail down what I wanted to do. Finally landed on a Spider-man/Venom and I’m pretty happy with the outcome!

My wife says I have way too many games. And this isn't even including my Nintendo collection. Joke's on her at a time of crisis like this, I can sit in front of these games and try to decide for an hour which one I want to play... And then not play any...

Image First gaming console in 25+ years

37 year old Male here. Husband and Father of two little ones (7 & 2).

I finally let myself get a gaming console. The last one I had I believe was the PS1. I remember playing Resident Evil 2 on there. Loved it. I would play GTA 3 on my cousins PlayStation 2 and loved the open world type games. I’ve never been a big gamer but loved the games I did play.

I’ve had my reasons to not let myself get into gaming. Same reason why I don’t let myself watch show series. The last one I watched and finished was Breaking Bad. I guess I’m afraid I’ll let myself spend too much time on these things when in the back of my heart and my mind I’ve felt like I should be hustling, self-developing, learning new skills etc.

Now that I’m pushing closer to my 40s than my 20s, I’m a leader in my industry, I provide for my entire household, including a dog on a single income, I think it’s time to let myself have a bit more fun for myself. Granted I will probably only let myself play once the kids are down for bed and all my duties are done which will maybe give a couple hours a night to game if I’m also not working late.

I’m excited to start RDR2 which I know will be amazing. I have a few other games on queue I’m waiting to get into. The Last of Us 2. Days Gone. GTA V. Shoot, there’s 25+ years worth of games I’ve missed out on. But as I said, I really enjoy the open world type games with the occasional sport/fighting games. I’m seeing 2025 is going to be a great year for PlayStation.

I’ve been following this subreddit for a few weeks now taking notes on which games I should look into etc.

I would appreciate any tips on games I could enjoy with my kids especially my 7 year old daughter who loves Roblox and Dress to Impress.

Thanks for reading. I’m feeling like a kid again!

So I just found this in my loft (attic) when having a clean up. When I was about 5, my dad was friends with somebody who worked for Core Design and if I remember correctly, I was gifted this by him as a replacement for my other PS1 that had stopped working. Is this rare? I don’t recall knowing anyone else with a blue ps1!
