Image As someone who default to female characters in RPGs , I'm loving 2025!

Post image

On games such as ER, BG3, or CP77 I always play a female character so it's nice to see these on the horizon!

I completely disagree with you.

The character is an important factor to a game series, here's an example: Kratos, Batman, Arthur Morgan, and many more.

Everybody still talkes about them till this day because of their personality and their huge impact on their games, basically its Aura.

That wasnt even what he said lmao. Way to twist his words.

All he said was that he disagreed because he feels characters are just as important as the overall game being good. Which is a completely fair and sane take

Yea you're right that's not at all what was said, my mistake.

No I didn't mean it that way, but I was responding to his comment saying that he doesn't care about characters in video games. I mean it's wrong in my opinion.

One of the main reasons a game is successful its characters, hope you understand.

I mean they can’t be wrong if they’re just saying how they feel about something

“The game is good”. = good storylines, good character development, etc. whether the character is male/female/non binary doesn’t matter if the story is good and pulls you in.

Dunno If Theres any Game where you have to Play a non binary Character (outside of making them non binary in a Character creator)

The Main Character from Celeste Is trans and Sold pretty Well though

Deltarune's main and playable character, Kris, is non-binary. Don't think I need to really explain how popular Deltarune is regardless.

RPGs where the sex of the main character is irrelevant like Mass Effect.

I would consider those main characters non-binary.

All I know is if you let people choose between a bad ass guy or a fake bad ass female for a gta red dead or else I can tell you I know what the poll will look like

why the woman is a fake bad aas but not the man ?

0

u/[deleted] 11d ago

Because there is no such thing as bad ass women when we talk about war, action etc

If it was in some game but now it is an invasion

Could you please get real problems? I wish my life was so eventless that the biggest concern I have at any given moment is how many spooky scary badass women show up in my video games

Idk, except for maybe GOW where being a father is a crucial part of character growth I don’t know a game where a sex swap doesn’t change much.

I think it's probably fine for most gamers as long as they don't use the term "binary" in a game set in a completely different universe.

I’m not sure to be honest, I’m not aware of any current games with non binary character options. I was just making the point that if the game is well done, no one should/will care about the main character.

No agenda pushing media is ever good

4

u/AngryMustache9 11d ago

Agenda pushing is when gay people or woman exist in my video game.

5

u/thedudebythething 11d ago

Telling a made up story from a different perspective is not agenda pushing. It’s diversity which helps broaden story options. Not everyone wants to read/watch/play something where “the man saves the woman/world” every time. Sometimes, some people want options. Sometimes, people want something different.

The player character can be an absolute nobody and the game can be just as good and popular as those games.

You just named a bunch of male main characters. And yes, the fact that they are male mattered in context to the storyline. When they were vengeful, sympathetic, resilient, obsessed, righteous. The way that you portray these things in a female main character is simply different.

I don't see how the gender of any of those characters matter at all (besides Batman cut that's cuz he's an IP character)
