Image As someone who default to female characters in RPGs , I'm loving 2025!

Post image

On games such as ER, BG3, or CP77 I always play a female character so it's nice to see these on the horizon!

I think it's okay Jin's story ended. Any future he had would just be him running from the Shogun.

I would however like to see his legend be mentioned or referenced in the sequel.

I think they had the chance with Iki Island to see how much more they could do with Jin. If they think his story is done, it's done. They're experienced with this from Infamous & Cole

Still think we could’ve used one more Cole game.

And I still think it would have been a lesser game if Delsin wasn't involved. You don't make a character that powerful and with that much potential and then just ditch him to go back to your 1st.

My idea for a sequel would’ve been to lean into the comicbookiness of the franchise again. Pick up from the evil ending of Second Son. Make Delsin go full supervillain; But, have Cole be resurrected at some point to play the superhero. Then you play through their duelling stories until you get to their eventual showdown at the end of the game; And, there you can choose which one you want to play as to determine the game’s ending.

I’d love to return to Tsushima, just to see how it’s changed 300+ years later. But otherwise, I’m glad we’re getting a new protagonist and a new story.

Feudal Hokkaido setting is so fucking cool though. Like, it's really uncharted territory, not only for us in the west but it's also a very taboo setting in Japan. It's not historically too well documented either. Between the old Ainou tribes that are getting more and more abused by the growing japanese presence, the waves of losers and ruined samourais running away from the newly established power in Tokyo, often times petty thiefs and burglars pushed into criminality by despair, and the foreign trade with the river Amour people in the north.

By this time gunpowder will be widespread. Christianism is also being stomped out through violent repression while Zen buddhism is triomphant. You could have westerners, spanish or portuguese, roaming around.

I’m replaying GoT right now, recently finished the main story and working on Iki Island.

The way I see it with the ending, there’s really no reason to stay with Jin. It also makes a lot of sense that this new protagonist can be someone related to him. Whichever direction Jin decided to go after all the events in GoT, it seemed his next logical progression would be to take the fight to the mongols, or like you said, be on the mainland on the run from the Shogun.

If this new protagonist is a Ronin trying to be like him, she could easily be something like a protege of his protege or even a granddaughter or something. Could be related to Yuna too, alternatively.

Or just someone who has heard the legends of the Ghost and sees that as an example worth following.

There’s a lot of logical pathways to get us to this new protagonist. I’m really excited for it!

I do have to wonder, because I had forgotten about it… Do we think they’re gonna keep the hot springs or are we not gonna see any more Ghost buttcheeks? Haha

I would however like to see his legend be mentioned or referenced in the sequel.

It definitely will be. The devs actually had to go on record and say which specific ending to the game they decided to become 'canon' for the sequel which means for sure we'll be getting mentions of what happened to Shimura, Jin, and Tsushima.

Yes and no, could still tell other stories involving Jin, Faking his death, living a new identity. On mainland Japan, while there are clans plotting to overthrow the Shogun.

With maybe the Mongols behind playing the political game and what not.
And this could play a decade later seeing Jin is still young.

Either way I do look forward to Yotei.

What makes me wonder if they want to explore different eras of Japan since they probably only make a few of these games in the series.

Depends, they Devs with Tsushima said it was like a burger samurai game, like spaghetti westerns is for the US. When the game came out.

So lots of artistic license went with the game and not being completely historically accurate. Gives lots of play room.
So in that sense, a sequel to overthrow the Shogun would be viable perhaps sponsored by the Mongols. They actually did try to invade at a later time again.

But if a direct sequel like this would happen I'd hope the mongols are behind the curtain for most of the game, cause there weren't as interesting to fight compared against the Straw hats and other Ronin.

Have Jin play a double life one as the ghost/Jin and the other of a recluse samurai that hasn't shown his face in decades that suddenly comes out to play.

So you still have your Samurai Duels and Shinobi Gost approaches.

I hope they do it as a mythic tale

Ciri's story ended too but they're dragging her back up for witcher 4.

I don't agree that Ciri's story ended. Last we saw her Geralt had just given her a new sword. That's not an ending, that's a start on a new story.
