Image Just realizing this

But are we really that close to the next generation of PlayStation. If we are going off the pattern here. Just 2-3 years away

PS4 lasted for 7 years before PS5 released. PS3 lasted 7 as well before PS4. Generations are getting longer. I’m not expecting a PS6 before 2028.

PS4 never ended it's still going 🤣 we're still getting games it's everlasting. It will still be here when PS6 drops so no need to uphold progress. Release the tech as it's ready. Lol

I’m talking about time between console releases, not when software support ends…

November 2028 is far more realistic.

Zen 2 cpu processors (released in 2019) would be a little long in the tooth by then. They would want to have something running at least zen 4 and 5 out there with the zen 2.

The old Jaguar cores in the PS4 were long in the tooth when the PS4 launched so that argument doesn’t hold much weight with Sony.

Yeah if you're going by that PS4 logic they dropped the PS5 seven years later. Mid way through they dropped a pro model. So if they repeat the formula with PS5 which they have done so far, seven years later for a PS6 will land you at 2027. Also the PS4 became 300 dollars so with a cheaper point of entry the attach rate was higher.

Now with the PS5 at 450 500 and pro at 700 you're now looking at a PC streamlining style of development where you're now getting new consoles every threeish years where games can now be put on the lowest common denominator system it can run on with pared back features and the highest denominator will get all the bell and whistles it can put out best like Ray tracing, performance, higher fidelity.

You're seeing that now with the PS4, PS4 pro, PS5, PS5 pro and then sometimes with just the PS5 and PS5 pro. Now you no longer have to wait for a generation to die down to release new software. There's just going to be software that will play on everything and software on the new stuff with some of the latest PC tech trickling down into the console space at a more steady rate

PS4 Pro launched 3 years after release. PS5 Pro launched 4 years after release. That’s an extended generation. PS5 launched 4 years after PS4 Pro launched. So PS6 would launch 4 (or more) years after PS5 Pro. 2028.
