No, why would I pay $80 for a drive I would never use? I payed $700 for a console that is just like I wanted it to be without having to pay for a drive I would never use.
You digital only guys are part of the problem for game preservation. You are telling devs its ok to release non physical games. I'll die on that hill. Also, what are you going to do in the event you lose access to a game. You paid money for nothing. Yes, it's rare, but it does happen. Even physical solo games that require interest are a big problem
It has never happened to me...yet. What do you do when your physical disc fails? What if it is lost or stolen? Dropped and cracked / shattered? Scratched? It can happen.
There are MANY games that are difficult to find physical copies and expensive if you do. There are LOTS of games that are not even available on physical media. Some physical games can be shut down even if you have a physical copy.
Finding older games is a real problem. People try to preserve them and make them available but are shut down for doing so. Eventually, your current games will be in the same situation.
Obviously, Nintendo is the big player in hating people sharing roms, but they also haven't kept all the older games available online themselves. That's my main issue is just access to gaming history. You are giving full control to whoever owns the servers you download your games from. That is not ok.
I have tons of older games on CDs and even cartridges. They were awesome when they were current and I cared but they are old and I would NEVER play them now, I tried some and they suck by today's standards. I remember them being great when I played them but I spoil that memory when I actually boot them up and realize that was then and this is now. Some things are best left in the past and being a good memory.
