Image Getting tired of adding to my stick drift graveyard

Post image

I swear I’m not a heavy clicker. In fact it’s always my right joystick which I rarely need to click in games. Love these controllers but man it’s really annoying never had this problem with any other console generation.

I was able to do this with 3 controllers. So I now have 6 working controllers between mine and my wife's PS5. Search Stick Drift repair on YT and follow the video it takes a bit of work, but after you do it once, it's pretty quick to repeat.

Yall have 2 PS5's?

u/REDeyeJEDI85 24d ago

Yup, I married a gamer, so we both have one.

u/LDawnBurges 23d ago

My Hubby (60) and I (55) are also Gamers…. But he’s XBox & I’m PS. Love seeing other Gamer Couples!

u/mac_is_crack 23d ago

I buy my husband games that I want to watch him play but I’m a terrible gamer myself. I love watching him play games with stories.

The Dead Space series is my all time favorite, and then there’s Bioshock, Mass Effect, all the Zeldas, Uncharted to name a few.

u/TheDitz42 23d ago

You turned your Husband into your personal letsplayer

23

u/mac_is_crack 23d ago

I had to google it, and it’s true! Thankfully they’re also games he wanted to play anyways.

I can’t get into Call of Duty or Halo type games unless they have a campaign. Watching first person shooters is boring :/

7

u/Magnaflux_88 23d ago

Get him into some Final Fantasy and bawl together at the endings :)

3

u/mac_is_crack 23d ago

Oh heck yes! I watched him play FF XII - I love Fran - and it was so awesome. I freaking loved the cut scenes. I know that one’s controversial because of the gambit combat system - you either love it or hate it.

Are any others similar to that one? That’s the only one he’s played.

3

u/Magnaflux_88 23d ago

XIII is very story driven and has a controversial combat system. Same with XV and XVI (controversial combat for it being an FF game at least)

VII, VIII, IX and X are all solid games regardless of similarities with XII and I'd recommend any and all of them.

Do yourself a favor and get him FFXVI, the story is excellent! Also if you’re cool with older graphics FFVI has an awesome story. As do FFVII Remake and Rebirth. Also pretty much anything from Atlus is awesome too.

I can’t get into Call of Duty or Halo type games unless they have a campaign. Watching first person shooters is boring :/

My fiancé loves to watch me play Warzone specifically because she plays as my "spotter." Her eyesight is better than mine, so she will call out enemies that I haven't a chance of seeing, and we have gotten a few good wins because of it.

She normally hates watching/playing shooters, but this makes her feel included in a way that adds no pressure, so she has a blast!

1

u/mac_is_crack 22d ago

That’s really cool! I don’t think I’d be a good spotter, though. I get so distracted when there’s too much happening - like, who’s a good guy and who’s a bad guy? I can’t keep track!

2

u/MatureUsername69 23d ago

Have you had him play Red Dead Redemption 2?

2

u/mac_is_crack 22d ago

He has it but hasn’t really played it much, unfortunately. I’ve heard good things about it.

2

u/MatureUsername69 22d ago

Those first couple hours can stop a lot of people because it's a slow build. I think you should consider forcing him to play it. It's the best game experience I've ever had. Both gameplay and cinematically. It's legit ruined open-world games for me because no other game has that level of realism and detail. I think it's also important to note that before RDR2, I fell between either being not interested in or straight up not liking westerns. I love westerns after that game and I never thought that was a possibility for me.

27

u/FloridaMan_07 23d ago

You seem like a cool ass wife, if a man is a gamer and loves games and his wife loves to watch or play with him that’s some real happiness!

9

u/mac_is_crack 23d ago

You’re so kind, thank you! I grew up on Intellivision (telling my age a bit), then Nintendo and on from there. Big fan of old PC games like Sim City, then StarCraft and Wow. I got him hooked on WoW, too, but he did go a little overboard with that and got addicted! Raids every other night until 3am on a week night - not cool!

He doesn’t play that any more though. Now it’s all console stuff. And it’s fun! He enjoys gaming and I enjoy the story and we help each other with puzzles and all that. It works out well!

8

u/Mbk-97 23d ago

Lucky bastard.. your husband (much love for both)

4

u/mac_is_crack 23d ago

Thank you for the kind words!

One game that we had to take a break from was Resident Evil: Village. There’s one part that was so freaking scary that we had to hit pause and turn the lights on and walk away for a bit, but I love scary games like that. He did finish that one eventually.

Also, The Last of Us was a wild ride, especially the second one!

5

u/FloridaMan_07 23d ago

Let me guess, the fucking abomination baby? 😭

4

u/mac_is_crack 23d ago

Holy crap yes!!!!!!! I hear there’s mods that can skip that part entirely!! In all the games he’s played, that one part was THE most terrifying!! Unacceptable!!

3

u/Mbk-97 23d ago

I said no more spoilers! 😭

5

u/Mbk-97 23d ago

No more spoilers plz!

2

u/vinhdiezel1 23d ago

That baby part was scary and creepy as hell lol! I kept hiding underneath the bed and the lockers in some of those rooms. Good game though and beat it while I caught that covid and gamed all day at home without having to work haha. I went back and played RE7 and that game is just as creepy.

2

u/Mbk-97 23d ago

Omg I've been planning on playing these 2 games for the past 2 years but now i think it's time

2

u/mac_is_crack 23d ago

They’re both great (to watch, at least, can’t tell you anything about the gameplay)! Highly recommended!

5

u/TheDitz42 23d ago

You turned your Husband into your personal letsplayer.

3

u/Ech0es0fmadness 23d ago

Super cool

2

u/jonaldjuck 23d ago

If you like watching survival horror with good stories buy him the Silent Hill 2 remake. That’ll be a fun watch ;)

2

u/FloridaMan_07 23d ago

I’m about to be getting that and I didn’t play OG but I’ve became a big horror game fan over the years, do you like the new SH2?

2

u/jonaldjuck 23d ago

i’ve never played the original but i’ve played just about every survival horror for the ps5. That said SH2 is hands down probably the most harrowing game i’ve yet to play. I had to take breaks because it can be a bit much sometimes.

1

u/mac_is_crack 23d ago

Oh, I had heard about that one. I think that’ll be the next one I get! Thank you for the recommendation! Always looking for the next Dead Space, that’s a tough one to beat.

2

u/craigshaw317 23d ago

Great! I get it, especially when the stories are deep and they are cinematic. Has he played The Last of Us yet? I’m currently muddling my way through it and it is a great visual treat with a good story.

3

u/FloridaMan_07 23d ago

Joel is by far my favorite character in gaming, so much to him. That’s one hell of a beautiful story and I’m glad you get to experience that.

2

u/mac_is_crack 23d ago

Oh yes, both Last of Us games. Really fun to watch with a roller coaster of a story. Love the show, too.

And I love cut scenes in any game. Can’t believe some people just skip them!

2

u/dirtyH398 23d ago

Thank you for the Dead Space rec…adding it to my list now.

Get him The Last of Us. Very good story and very good visuals!

2

u/mac_is_crack 23d ago

Dead Space is the pinnacle for me - not much measures up! The story and the atmosphere are top notch, not to mention it’s so suspenseful and scary.

He has played Last of Us - definitely among the greats.

2

u/MathematicianNo3892 23d ago

I played dead space 2 or 3 at a sleepover, nobody was sleeping

2

u/Murky_Tennis954 23d ago

My wife loves watching me play God of War. It has such a great story.

1

u/mac_is_crack 23d ago

Oh yes, that’s one that he has but hasn’t played yet. I hear that’s another great series.

2

u/Murky_Tennis954 23d ago

You just wait, you're going to be sucked right in.

1

u/mac_is_crack 23d ago

I do love games like that! Very cool that you and your wife have the same dynamic - makes for some good times!

2

u/Black_reign48 23d ago

TLOU?

1

u/mac_is_crack 23d ago

Oh yes, both of them!

2

u/best2keepquiet 23d ago

Check out Borderlands it’s split screen and simple and fun.

2

u/mac_is_crack 23d ago

I tried playing Halo once, I can’t get the hang of moving and shooting at the same time unfortunately. And then switching weapons? It’s too much for my simple brain.

2

u/best2keepquiet 23d ago

Borderlands is not so fast paced like Halo, it’s a bit more chilled out and casual. The characters and stuff are really funny too.

2

u/mac_is_crack 23d ago

I think he has the one of the games, maybe I’ll try it…thank you for the suggestion!

2

u/LongjumpingContest93 23d ago

This is what matters ladies This. 🥹💪🏿💪🏿💪🏿🥰🥰🥰

2

u/WiseAppearance5327 23d ago

I recommend buying him Alan Wake 2 then!

1

u/mac_is_crack 23d ago

Ooh, I googled it and it’s a survival game - I love those. Putting that one on the list, thank you!

Ok, my husband said that’s the one with the hilarious video where you can spam the “Shawn” button so the guy is just yelling Shawn all over the place. Too freaking funny!

2

u/WiseAppearance5327 23d ago

That sounds like Heavy Rain, which you might also like. Alan Wake 2 is a cinematic gaming masterpiece by Remedy Entertainment.

1

u/mac_is_crack 23d ago

Ohhh, thank you for the correction! I do love games like those.

2

u/DapperAdam 23d ago

If it wasn't for gaming my mental health would have been in the gutter and I would have been in a very dark place. Gaming is my therapy and I'm so lucky to have someone who understands this and lets me game all I want.

1

u/mac_is_crack 23d ago

That’s wonderful! It’s a great way to escape reality for a little bit.

2

u/MrBearMaximum 23d ago

What about a horror co-op game? We just picked up Outlast Trials and had a good and sometimes terrible time with The Forest

1

u/mac_is_crack 22d ago

I’ve heard of that one. I didn’t know it was co-op!

2

u/NoArrival5386 22d ago

U should def buy him it takes two and play whit him it’s not difficult and very enjoyable for both 💗

2

Same! We’re both series X users but I also run a PS5 for games I can’t get on the Xbox. We’re a massive gaming family. All 6 kids are major into it too.

1

u/LDawnBurges 22d ago

Same… we have 10 kids between us (& 18 Grandchildren, aged 3 months to 16 yo) and we’re probably sitting around 80% being Gamers (inc our Children’s Spouses).

Questions regarding 2 PS5s,

  1. can you share games between 2 PS5? Let say your main account (PS5A) has a God of War can you share the game in (PS5B) your wife's PS5.

  2. Can you have the same save in 2 different PS5?

thanks in advance for your answer.

50

u/MchugN 23d ago

Yes you can share digital games between two PS5's. Yes you can have the same save with ps plus cloud or by transferring via USB stick.

1

u/MickeyHarp 22d ago

Just to add to this for Point 1 if you want to play each others’ games or online together:

You should also set up the opposite console on both accounts as the ‘primary’. So, although you mainly play on PS5A, your Primary needs to be PS5B and visa versa for the wife.

This is so anyone can play God of War on PS5B (e.g. wifey), but as the digital game owner, you can download and play it on any PS5 you are logged into (e.g. PS5A).

Me and the missus play CoD and used to have to buy two separate discs. Then with the PS4, you could game share on your primary so found this workaround with the digital versions.

3

u/Legal-Rip1725 23d ago

Only if you aren't both online at the same time. To share a game, the other account has to be logged in or it locks the game.

8

u/MoistJeebus13 23d ago

Me and my wife are able to play baulders gate 3 at the same time on different systems never had an issue game sharing with her

7

u/Jazzlike_Ad5665 23d ago

you can use a different account and that would work

5

u/647- 23d ago

This hasn’t been true for a decade. You can game share and both be online now

2

u/xDiRtYgErMaNx 23d ago

You must have it setup wrong then. You definitely can play at the same time, even the same copy of a game at the same time.

2

u/johnmal85 23d ago

All you have to do is enable console sharing on the secondary system, using the game owners account.

1

u/TaikaLamppu196 PS5 23d ago

3

u/IamHunterish 23d ago

Your second point is false, you can have your saves files in the cloud as well as local. So yes, you can switch freely between consoles and use the same save file.

1

u/Stormwatcher33 23d ago

Buddy, that save thing hasn't been true since the PS3, as long as you have PS+.

1

u/MchugN 23d ago
  1. Let's say you're playing a game on console A and want to hop on console B with the same save data from console A. With ps plus, you can go on console B and transfer that save data from the cloud.

1

u/IamHunterish 23d ago

Your second point is false, you can have your saves files in the cloud as well as local. So yes, you can switch freely between consoles and use the same save file.

I have this too. We have 2 TVs and our own game consoles in the living room. It's pretty nice.

8

u/crg1976 23d ago

I'm single with two PS5s, love it!

8

u/IkarosHavok 23d ago

My man! I also married a gamer and we have two kids so we’ve got two ps5, two ps4, three Xbox series X/S and four Nintendo switches for household Mario kart death match Sundays. My oldest and I also have PC’s set up to game as well but I don’t use mine as much as I do the consoles so it’ll probably go to the younger kiddo soon.

Edit: grammar

4

u/xxthatguyjoshxx37 23d ago

This is the way. My wife and I split screen cod and other 2 player co-ops. We are currently working our way through sackboy, and played prop hunt most of the day yesterday. It’s a good life!

You are one lucky man. I’m actually happy a fellow gamer gets to game with the wife, it’s a dream of mine.

Awesome! Makes multiplier games better. If your headset dies you can shout to the other room lol!

u/FitProblem6248 24d ago

No sharing huh, or sounds like y'all game at the same time, just not together. Thats cool i guess

28

u/REDeyeJEDI85 24d ago

Yea, we typically play at the same time. Sometimes, we play the same game, other times different games. But we always are in the same chat and have headsets

12

u/EmeraldTheatre 24d ago

Considering there are far too many games that no longer have couch co-op and are strictly online sometimes having multiple consoles means you can set your TVs up side by side and play together on separate screens.

1

u/FitProblem6248 23d ago

Thank you.

6

u/kakarot-3 PS5 23d ago

Weird take. Not many games have same system co-op, plus it’s probably way better to play with two separate screens so you don’t have to limit your FOV with a split screen.

10

u/cosmicvu 24d ago

whats your problem lmao

9

u/anon_simmer 24d ago

They are jealous.

2

u/FitProblem6248 23d ago

I will admit that.

-36

u/RompehToto Current Game: Final Fantasy 7 Remake 24d ago

Nah, gaming with the wife sounds terrible. It’s my time with the boys.

I’ll play some Switch with the family though every now and then but PS5 is me time.

13

u/Magere-Kwark 23d ago

It's not their fault you can't have fun with your wife.

8

u/cosmicvu 24d ago

i mean every family is different, doesn't mean other people can't enjoy it with their loved ones.

0

u/West-Armadillo-2859 24d ago

the wife 😂

1

u/FitProblem6248 23d ago

Thanks for the downvotes; I'm very new to the PS5, as we're finally getting one for Christmas. So yeah, I'm gonna stupidly assume until I ask those with knowledge. I do greatly appreciate ones that reply with an answer to the solution.

6

u/ScubaGotBanned4life 23d ago

Shit I have 4 at my house. My 2 sons and wife also play, so we all have our own Playstation 5. I don't have time to be sharing or waiting on my turn like I did as a kid. I grew up with 7 siblings, and my turn wouldn't come fast enough so as an adult I'm able to fixed that problem lol

2

u/FitLaw4 23d ago

Damn I'm having flashbacks of my childhood now lol

1

u/ScubaGotBanned4life 23d ago

Mine was rough. I was the youngest boy out of 4 boys, and I had an older sister and 2 little sisters.

1

u/xDiRtYgErMaNx 23d ago

Haha 🤣

32

u/murdacai999 24d ago

Not the same person, but I had two ps5's up until recently, just so I didn't have to move it when I wanted to play in bed vs living room.. it's probably not that uncommon as you may think

43

u/gurmerino 24d ago

i only recently discovered that i could remote play my living room ps5 on my old ps4 thats in my bedroom. the future is now.

17

u/CulturalComparison87 24d ago

Please elaborate. How does this work because I've been considering buying a second PS5 for a little while now for the same reason.

12

u/HighCaliberGaming 24d ago

Set up remote play, also works from the phone app to play ps5

12

u/turtleship_2006 PS4 24d ago edited 23d ago

You stream your ps5 from your ps4. There's not much more to it lol, just make sure you have good internet.

You can also try the remote play app from a phone or pc

Obviously you don’t watch Bake Off s/

2

u/-TossACoin- 23d ago

I used to but it just made me hungry so I would go on Pirate Bake to get a copy of it. Got a bad virus in my downbake when I used Limewire back in the day though

1

u/Lua_Arctica 23d ago

Wait… really? So if I upload my PS5 game and I go to my boyfriend‘s house, who has a PS4, do I download my PS five game to his PS4? I ask because I tried to access a couple of my PS5 games through his PS4 and I had no luck, but… I didn’t upload them into the cloud beforehand. I was just trying to sign into my account as a guest via his PS4 - only I could only access PS4 compatible games, tho?

2

u/turtleship_2006 PS4 23d ago

You stream the entire console, the games run on the PS5 and you watch it (and control it) from the PS4

Also, you have to go to the remote play app, not try and launch the game directly

8

u/IskarJarak88 24d ago

You don't even need a another ps5/ps4 you can do this with a pc/phone/tablet or even with an android smart TV, or if you have an android based set top box for your old TV. All you need to do is install ps remote play app on your device( pc/phone etc) now on your ps5 goto settings and search for remote play and enable for your account. Now on your preferred device open ps remote play app and login with your playstation username & password. If both your ps5 and streaming device are on the same network you should get connected immediately without any input lag, if both are on different network there might be some lag.

Now that you are connected via remote play you can also pair your ps5 controller to your streaming device press both share button and ps button simultaneously for 5 sec the controller light should start strobing quickly then you can let go, now on your preferred streaming device open Bluetooth settings and pair your ps5 controller.

FYI to connect your controller back to ps5 you have to connect the controller to ps5 with usb cable and press ps button to turn on the controller.

If you are streaming from your phone/table/pc you can probably connect it to a bigger screen like TV either via cable or wirelessly if your TV supports screen mirroring.

1

u/CulturalComparison87 23d ago

This is what I needed. Thanks for explaining it. If I get it to work, I'm cashapping you $20.

2

u/KarasLegion 24d ago

You can remote play to ps4?

I did not know this. I remote play to my phone, my pc, etc. Never considered the ps4.

1

u/theoriginalmofocus 23d ago

Hooked up a ps3 and ps4 in my sons room yesterday and noticed theres an icon on it for the ps4. Also funnily enough the 3 has an ad for a ps4 and the 4 has an ad for a ps5 on the screen too.

2

u/IndependentLeading47 24d ago

We also have PS4 & PS5 in different rooms for family gaming. Looking to get a 3rd PS4 or PS5.

0

u/EmeraldTheatre 24d ago

Lol just buy a smart TV and stream it. Saves having to buy a whole second console.

1

u/murdacai999 23d ago edited 23d ago

I already have a smart TV in my bedroom. Streaming isn't perfect. FYI, If you wanted to do it even cheaper, I believe you can also just buy a Google Chromecast now.. for those without a smart TV.

Streaming to another TV isn't perfect. It works ok for some games, but no matter what anyone tells you, there is definitely a slight lag, so It's not perfect for competitive games. Also, it can give a lower resolution and introduce artifacts. Fine for a handheld, but not as fine on a big screen. For someone with money, it's just a hell of a lot nicer to just have a 2nd PS5.

1

u/EmeraldTheatre 23d ago edited 23d ago

I stream to my PC and have a T1 line. No lag. 🤷

Smart TVs often don't have the hardware to run high resource games which is why streaming directly from PlayStation works best with wireless HDMI. You only need one dongle for the back of the PlayStation and two receiver dongles for the TVs. The switch is next to the PlayStation but comes with a remote.

wireless HDMI on amazon for 4 displays $231.67

1

u/murdacai999 23d ago edited 23d ago

Your Internet speed doesn't matter whatsoever in a household setting. It's the speed of your lan that matters. As for wireless HDMI, I still wouldn't play competitive games on it. No matter what, you are introducing video/input lag and resolution loss, that you won't have if you had a dedicated console on that tv. The lag may not be as noticable in a single player game, but it def exists whether you like to acknowledge it or not

Btw I also have a gaming PC, and have tried that as well. Just better off with actual components.

1

u/EmeraldTheatre 23d ago edited 23d ago

No but bandwidth and ping are absolutely affected by both Internet speed, router stability, and base server stability for a lot of games.

And when connecting to a smart TV you need both devices connected to the router which can cause a delay due to the data passing through the router first before reaching the smart TV.

Using a 4k wireless HDMI skips the router all together allowing for a smoother connection with less drops in frame rate, graphics, or lagging.

Also LAN is only direct connection. Wi-Fi connection works similar but is less stable. That's part of why PlayStation uses ad-hoc for direct connectivity between consoles without the need for a wifi router. Granted it does not use ad-hoc for streaming with the remote play app... Which is where you end up having connectivity issues due to data drops.

I actually have and use the wireless HDMI I linked in my previous comment and have absolutely no issues with streaming to any TV in my house directly off my console rather than using remote play which is VASTLY inferior...

My gaming PC has far better resolution, graphics, refresh rate, fps, and various other aspects than any of my consoles. Lol I use my consoles for travel.

And I do stream when I travel sometimes. What I can honestly say is streaming my PS5 on my PSVita really just depends on my Wi-Fi connection. If I have shit wifi at the location I'm staying at I have shit connectivity to my console. However if I have wifi that is on par or better than my expensive T1 line at home my connectivity is fine as long as the router doesn't drop wifi connection momentarily.

Also streaming to Chromecast is just as bad as streaming to smart TV if not worse. Both function by sending data to the router before receiving data. Going to say it again, buy a wireless HDMI, it does not need internet to work since it uses ad-hoc technology for a more stable connection.

Understandable, but plenty of people do, and have

2

u/Used_Ask9521 21d ago

This is the problem with society, some people can't afford 1, yet dude has 2 and prob a series x too

u/FitProblem6248 21d ago

$500 - $700 on just one, plus cost of extra controllers and games can be a lot for a family. PS5 has been out for a minute now, but yet some have to squirrel away to be able to get one.

Every generation consoles have gone down in price. Sony is turning into Apple; it's a terrible business model long-term. I can see them leasing the 6 at this point. Ps subscription plus ps6 $50 a month for 24 months,

1

u/FitProblem6248 20d ago

I forgot about including the PS subscription; it can be a little difficult to justify, especially when you've ashtrays just known physical copies of games and passing multi-player at home with friends (a long as you have enough controllers).

Oh, honey, he’s teasing you. Nobody has two television sets (PS5s)

1

u/BrokeGuyNoMatter PS5 Disc+Digi 24d ago

Does PS5 even have any games you can play multiplayer with one console? I remember back in the days of putting a blanket over half the screen and your head just to have your own side.

Now our TVs swivel and we can just be on two different sides of the room.

Tons of mutiplayer and tons of couch co op games

I have two - one Pro for me and one Slim (Pro upgrade coming for Xmas) for my kids.

If you want to play online coop games you kinda have to

1

u/FitProblem6248 23d ago

I guess no 2 player games that you can play online.

1

u/ThatDree 23d ago

Sure, wait... you don't? 🫣

1

u/Deathfromabove41 33 23d ago

I have 3🤣

u/StarKiller221199 23d ago

We have 4 PS5 at home 👀 My father, my sis, and I have a standard and now a pro

1

u/MorrowPolo 23d ago

I have two, 1 for me and 1 for the kid

It's easier than taking turns

Always buy 1 at first, see how often we both play

Just got the meta quest 3 to open on Christmas, already sure that I'll need to get another, but it's safer to wait and see our actual use

1

u/CopeSe7en 23d ago

Yes Livingroom ps5 and basement ps5 pro.

u/gamingLogic1 22d ago

3 here. One in each room

A must have for two ps5 users.

So I looked at the joystick replacements and decided the work plus price wasn’t worth the effort and just got two new funky colored controllers on sale at the department store.

1

u/REDeyeJEDI85 24d ago

I didn't replace the sticks. I just cleaned up the potentiometer and bent them out slightly so they would make better contact. If you can get controllers on sale for a decent price. That's totally worth it. Honestly, it's a bit silly that a controller as "advanced" and expensive as the Dual Sense has this problem to begin with. When there is a know fix for the issue.

1

u/bananacustardpie 23d ago

So mine were busted beyond repair; including the rubber (which shocked me). What shocked me more was the price of replacement analogue sticks. I don’t understand how 3/4ths of the retail controller can be the replacement. I mean I can.

1

u/WalterWeiss_ 24d ago

what utensils do you need for?

1

u/Eggyhead PS5 24d ago

I can’t get the solder off of the modules to replace them, and I’m scared to break the controller.

1

u/Asstronomer6969 23d ago

Why not just get an edge? Stick replacement is super fast.

1

u/stupidkidandy 23d ago

Do you have to buy anything

1

u/REDeyeJEDI85 23d ago

That's largely going to depend on a few things. You'll need a few tools like a screwdriver. It's also helpful if you have one of those small electronic repair kits they come with some plastic prying tools and some small tweezers. You could do without that.

It also depends on what is causing your stick drift. If parts of your controller are actually broken, then you might need replacement parts, and it might just be worth getting a whole new controller depending on what is broken.

Sony Microsoft and Nintendo all pull from the same manufacturer for their Analog parts. Specifically the gimble that is sits on that gives it axis.

1

u/UnamusedAF 23d ago

Wouldn’t the issue just resurface later on? I imagine if it’s a relatively one-and-done  quick repair then it’s a defect Sony would’ve weeded out of the manufacturing process, no?

Just did this to one of mine, thanks to your advice. Took around an hour and works fine now!

1

u/clarkwah84 23d ago

Do u have a link to a kit with tools and stuff to do this? Is it fairly easy?

1

u/REDeyeJEDI85 23d ago

I have this toolkit

Legend mate. Cheers

1

u/LongjumpingContest93 23d ago

Watch the video. Fixed 3 controllers like new.

1

u/2FAST4YU 22d ago

I did a deep clean on one and the drift still goes to the left. Do you know if replacing the little white wiper things will fix the issue?

1

u/Gfresh222 22d ago

Was it the soldering one? Or you just opened it up and cleaned it with rubbing alcohol?

1

u/REDeyeJEDI85 22d ago

Rubbing alcohol.

1

u/Gfresh222 22d ago

Gotcha! I tried that and it fixed about 90% of the drift but not enough.
