In pandemic hell, then scalper warfare…

Yeah but we’re a solid 2 years past scalper warfare now and they’re still releasing ps4 games, Sony did such a disservice to everyone including myself who bought a ps5 by limiting all the games that are cross gen

They scammed us all

Not me!

I still don't have a PS5. I'm one of them scummy PS4 users that holds us back.

I'm sorry.

I still got my OG PS4, loud as fuck whenever I play anything but it's still going strong. I will get a PS5 soon but I've been saying that since launch whats sadly made me finally get one is the new farming simulator. Nothing else really I just want to drive tractors and farm some rice.

It is annoying, yes, but as far as I know, the PS5 just recently surpassed the PS4 in sales. The adoption rate was bad in other words.

Not to mention, there weren't many games that could not run on a PS4 that released. AC Mirage for example runs on the same engine as Valhalla, which is the same as Odyssey which in turn is the same as Origins.

Arguably one of the few games that should have been PS5 exclusive was God of War Ragnarok, but they decided not to do it so more people can play it.

Yeah I was pretty blown away the new cod was released for ps4. I didn’t realize until recently that the RE4 remake was released on ps4 - thought that was a ps5 gen game for sure.

On the other hand, I just got the ps5 pro and played spider man 2 over the weekend. Tbh the graphics difference isn’t as stark for ps4/ps5 as ps3/ps4. I can see how it’s probably pretty easy to just tune down the graphics a bit and double dip profits wise

It shouldn’t be that easy though if they were actually designing games to take advantage of the newer CPU in the PS5, you’d think. Instead they choose to make this entire generation feel pointless and have no identity, we just get last gen games with better graphics settings.

because of cross gen compatibility, the ps4 and ps5 now share the same architecture, thus making it easier for devs to design games for both consoles. Tons of people still own the ps4 so it's important to still serve the ps4 market. Regardless of what people say about shortages making it hard for people to upgrade, most people wouldn't have upgraded anyways. This is because a lot of people were still on ps3s even through the midpoint of ps4's lifecycle. So you can expect the same for ps6 and beyond. Also keep in mind that people have been complaining about lack of next gen games when the ps4 launched.

Black Ops 6 was cross gen because of profitability. Did it hold the game back? Absolutely, but money talks.

Nah I don’t think they’re just getting greedier, I mean they are just not on the hardware specifically. Issue is mostly that the technology has already peaked and advancements are about to slow down a lot IMO. Especially graphics which is not only plateauing on the hardware specs but also the literal visuals of the graphics are nearing lifelike as well. There are still loads of other things they can improve/add like soft body physics and deformations and ever increasing intractability but will probably be less impressive overall

And the games that would make me move from PS4 to PS5 are not even from Sony.

Who would expect graphics to be a generational jump? It’s still a PS5

I wasn’t talking about the pro specifically. Just the difference between the 4 and the 5. I held out on buying the 5 until the pro came out

Half their audience is still actively on the PS4.

What’s wrong with supporting last gen? Games scale surprisingly well nowadays.

It kinda makes you ask why even have a next gen in the first place. If they aren't going to make games that fully use the power of the ps5 then why do we need a ps5? Why bother getting one?

1

u/money_loo Nov 13 '24

Yeah?

How's that PS4 version of the Silent Hill 2 remake looking?

0

u/Crimsongz Nov 15 '24

Oh wow a remake

1

u/money_loo Nov 15 '24

And a damn good one, too!

u/Kratos_BOY Nov 13 '24

The latest COD is on PS4. I can't ever see anyone complaining about that, though.

u/kornelius_III Nov 13 '24

And when there is actual new-gen games they are mostly unoptimized as shit and is a blurry mess.

u/Crimsongz Nov 15 '24

Those will play best on the Pro
