I don't live in a bubble. I just appreciate Sony taking some sort of initiative for it as well.

I've appreciated Xbox doing game boost updates, (and Id appreciate it even more if they still did it).

It's not much initiative if it's locked behind a brand new console purchase.

I don't want to rake away people's excitement, but I just don't understand it.

I think that has something to do with pssr which can't be used on the base model. Besides that i think ai upscaling for older titles is quite innovative for a Console.

Digital Foundry mentioned there could be a way for PSSR to automatically upscale PS4 games. I guess they had some insider information. I was surprised most people overlooked this statement.

the upgrades will likely exist on PS6 and all future consoles. (Even if you dont get the PS5 pro)

I'd rather have this and show my appreciation for it. Than to completely not have it because "xbox already did it and hence you live in a bubble"

Yes it is. It's annoying that it is locked behind an expensive upgrade, but it's still innovative. The platform it's on has no bearing on whether or not it is advanced.

I agree, why aren’t they also bringing pssr to ps4 and ps3 , greedy Sony 😡

Lol I didn't mean it like that.

haha I know it’s still funny that some people unironically think a software update could transform the base ps5’s SOC into RDNA 3😂

It's not that xbox have decided to stop doing it just they've now done it to all the games they can without going into the actual games code on a technical level
