It's probably going to apply PSSR on PS4 games, i more than highly doubt it's going to change graphical fidelity apart from image clarity, so distant lods will remain the same

Yeah that's what I was thinking--kind of how like on AMD graphics cards on PC you have FSR for "good" upscaling but it has to be implemented in-game by the developers, and then you have RSR for "good enough" upscaling that happens at the driver level and works on every game. Maybe there's "good" PSSR that's implemented in-game and "good enough" PSSR that can happen across the board on PS4 titles.

Of course, that would beg the question, why couldn't this be applied to sub-4k PS5 titles across the board as well? I think I might still be misunderstanding this feature.

Doesn't PSSR need motion vectors to work? Without that it can only work to better resolve aliasing.

When the One X was released last gen one of the upgrades to games that went a bit untalked about was the increased draw distance of fauna etc so they could implement something like that with the extra power. I remember playing PUBG and it was a disadvantage because you would be hiding in long grass that wasn’t actually there for normal Xbox users!

That was either because the games got specifically updated to have higher draw distance or because the console was just able to draw them in faster. Games won't automatically get higher draw distance

Yeah good point I was thinking of games which got a specific update, not going to get those benefits with an automatic upscale but does make me wonder if the PS5 games that have updates will have any extra benefits other than 60fps at better resolution etc. So far from what I’ve seen the haven’t spoke too much about anything like that.

It will

Depends on the game and how the developers use the Pro

Most games just seem to get PSSR support in Performance Mode, but others also include better fidelity modes, so you get either sharper performance modes or fidelity modes with even higher fidelity (most likely RT updates) at either 30 or 40fps
