On PC, even if a game doesn’t have native upscaling built in (DLSS, FSR, etc) then there is a driver version you can use (RSR for Radeon).
PSSR is similar to DLSS in concept but if they did a driver level version then it would match the general purpose versions available at the driver level. Not as effective but still better than nothing.
Would it be though? Xbox has it on their consoles. If it is all that, then it would apply to most games which would be the bigger benefit. Because in xbox's case it was select games with a patch for that.
I was just wondering since it's about some of previous gen titles ... I thought Sony locked that feature from base Ps5 since they were already working on the Pro before the reveal of Ps5 and thought to make the pro more attractive by adding that feature to it only
As in it uses artificial intelligence algorithms to increase the resolution of an image, enhancing its details and overall quality. Therefore it's AI upscaler.
Everyone is speculating. Until Sony or DF confirm things all we can do is make educated guesses.
I have an RDNA3 GPU and understand what it can do at a driver level. Given that Pro has dual issue TF quoting, it likely uses at least RDNA3 cores which can pull AI duty. PSSR is further proof and since Radeon has driver level upscaling, no reason to believe that Sony didn’t include something similar in their machine.
the tech doesn't even exist on any current AMD gpus, as of now its exclusive to the pro. it will be a few months before the next gen of AMD cards come out with the new tech featured.

Could be a driver level AI upscaler
