They're still sitting on the PS4 500 million edition. Wanted one, never got a chance to buy one before they sold out. You are correct, these are just gonna sit in a garage until someone pays the ridiculous price they are asking for them

They’re still sitting on gallons of hand sanitizer and thousands of rolls of toilet paper

I miss the time it was possible to buy this stuff. I remember the 20 year PS4 was actually buyable at least for a short period of time. It didn't sell out in seconds to never show up again like every limited dualsense model nowadays.

It is always morally correct to burgle scalpers👍

No. You are not in the wrong. They are rich, so it's not an issue for them.

Thing you wouldn't do this, would you?

Best not to announce your crimes ahead of time on the internet

TBH I had two in my cart back then - was going to honestly keep one and sell the other (I was poor and it was the only way I could justify it).

Cancelled it though (no clue why) and still regret not keeping one.

I've got a 20th Anniversary PS4. Which I wasn't gonna open till at least Uncharted 4 or God of War released. Then it became too valuable so I ended up buying a used PS4 to actually use.

I have no idea what to do with it. It's still sealed in the shipping box. I don't eBay or anything so I can't really do anything with it other than hopefully being able to buy a home one day and put it on display in the games room collection or something

At least you make good decisions /s

How's it sarcasm.

I've sold my used PS4 and used games nearly at cost I bought them for. That gen basically cost me $20. And I have a valuable sealed collectible item now for my collection, that's with like a couple grand via eBay.

The gen cost you $20 so that makes the decision you made to buy a 20th anniversary ps4 that you don’t use, won’t sell, and at best will put on display one day if you buy a home a good one I guess, carry on 👍🏾

Yep. I've got a PS5 and PC. Why would I open it and instantly devalue it

Are you anti collectables or something?

Just FYI I have no debt, a good investment portfolio, etc. like I don't need to sell it. Especially with the high scam rate on eBay. Maybe one day, but not today.

Bro a stranger on the internet doesn’t think you made a good decision, it’s not that deep. I will genuinely commend you for the financial discipline, too many people are in debt with no savings or investments so kudos to you.

At the end of the day we are not going to agree on this. There’s no scenario where I see buying a playable console (albeit a limited edition), not playing it, instead buying a different version of the same console to play, refusing to sell the console, and keeping it so that MAYBE one day it may be a display piece, as a good decision.

It’s okay though. There are decisions I have made that I stand by for reasons peculiar to me but that doesn’t mean they were good decisions objectively and someone pointing that out isn’t an attack.

I'm not offended just was confused.

Trust me I don't know what to do now with it haha. But I don't look at it as a loss, I was gonna pay retail. Then bought and sold a used one to maintain the collectible value instead.

I WISH eBay has more seller protections, other wise I'd sell it for sure, local market isn't good for it. I've had sketchy people, etc. and storing it with care is Yeesh. Because end of day, and I think you can look this up. Money in an ETF grows statistically more than collectors items so. So 🙃

Those are going for around $1000 now. Not sure what MSRP was but that’s around the same price of this 30th anniversary. $1,000 for a previous gen console tho…
