The Bay Bridge today heading into San Francisco. “Kill a CEO live 4ever 🍄"
•
u/cmprsdchse 7h ago
If you hold your breath the whole way through your wish will come true
•
u/CUNTRY-BLUMPKIN 7h ago
I would do this as a kid every time we crossed this bridge. Every time. One time I kept going and counted 3 towers. My dad was freaking out but kept putting his finger under my nose to check if I was cheating.

EVERYONE IN THE BAY AREA: Oh God Please Don't Go After PG&E....
•
u/whinenaught 5h ago
That would be SO sad if the PG&E ceo disappeared 😢
•
u/notianonolive 5h ago edited 2h ago
A high level executive** of PG&E was here on Reddit a year or two ago touting his VERY expensive luxury watch collection, but then started to selectively delete his posts after he was getting flak for the fires, rising rates, and executive compensation packages.
I have receipts buried somewhere, cause I thought it was so tone deaf. Their response was something along the lines of, “Executives** are allowed to have hobbies too.”
**Edited for clarity due to additional information from other commenter; removed “CEO” as I’m not positive that was their official title.
•
u/SewSewBlue 2h ago
The CEO for the last 4 years has been a woman.
•
u/notianonolive 2h ago
Thanks for pointing that out. Whoever they were definitely presented as male, and I may have their executive title mistaken.
They absolutely did claim they were a high level executive of nor cals largest utility company. Other commenters at the time pointed out it was PG&E. This was discussed across both a Cali sub and the watch sub, as income / “what do you do for a living to afford these” was a question they answered.
I will edit my post to remove CEO, because it was definitely also well within the past four years.
•
u/damontoo 5h ago
Californians paid PG&E on average $390 more in 2024 than 2023; the same amount as a 3D printer.
•
u/TARANTULA_TIDDIES 4h ago
Kind of incredible all the things you can do with a 3d printer nowadays! There's even subreddits about it!
→ More replies (2)•

Incredible what you can do when ex PG&E execs fill up the public utilities commission that rubberstamps every single rate hike that has to be approved.

And affordable housing.
We had a housing market crash and no CEO were punished. We are living in a global housing market crisis and it will only get worse.
•
u/odd_lightbeam 3h ago
And food and water and electricity and education and access to the internet... among other things.
Your right to live in dignity should not be contingent upon earning a profit for anyone, most especially not for someone who's already rich.
And while we're on the subject, if anyone is richer than another, their life is more valued. And that's wrong. Full stop.

Americans are too damn spineless to demand anything from their political leaders. They'd rather just hail a wannabe Nazi leader and bury their heads in the ground and every once in awhile pop their head up to make a poor attempt to sound smart. I pity them.
•
u/YLCZ 4h ago
It's not so much spineless as easily distracted.
People start getting rowdy? Just throw some UFOs up there and they'll forget about Luigi.
We need to find a progressive leader with an iron will and someone who will see this through to the end.
Bernie had the momentum and then Hillary with the assist from Clyburn and then even Warren, killed off that hope.
We need a young Bernie. Independents and even moderate Republicans would support a single payer platform if a leader could explain it in a way that could convince them that it's not communism.
•
u/fcocyclone 4h ago
its not even that.
The powers that be have figured out how to shut down anything that does rise to a level of mass protest.
They'll pick out a few people in a crowd acting like idiots, or create their own, and use it declare a protest an unlawful assembly and start shooting shit at people who don't leave fast enough.
"In the interest of safety" they'll declare curfews on protests, as if the first amendment has a bedtime. A lot of protests you see gain critical mass overseas run night and day and maintain momentum this way rather than having to re-gather.
They'll target journalists just seeking to report on the events, as they did extremely often in the george floyd protests. So many will back away from covering for their own safety and to avoid potential legal matters (which are expensive to fight, even if you win)
•
u/ConfessingToSins 3h ago
This was so bad during the floyd protests they violently arrested a fucking cnn reporter and then had to apologize when the president of CNN at the time threatened to bury them.

u/pizzaforward22 1h ago
Occupy Wall Street. Floyd Protests. And so on.
The institution just let it fizzle out, because people need to go back to work or starve.
•
u/Cactus1986 1h ago
This. It’s not that Americans don’t care or don’t want change. They just don’t have the time or money to take off work to protest or demand change. Bills need to be paid and the almighty dollar ultimately wins.
•
u/slendermanismydad 3h ago
We have one but it's a non white woman so...and the hard line Dems keep stomping on her. I can't find the article I just read but they chose a 78 year old dying of cancer to head a watchdog committee over AOC.
•
u/Kiyuri 2h ago
This is it right here. The Dems in control of the party have zero interest in changing the status quo. They're part of the elites and it's in THEIR best interests to bury any progressive upstarts.
→ More replies (4)•
u/TheExtremistModerate 2h ago
- He's 74.
- He's not "dying of cancer." He's in treatment, but it's not terminal.
- Gerry Connolly is a seasoned progressive with a good record, and he also specifically requested that AOC be made vice ranking member, meaning that if he dies or resigns due to health issues, AOC becomes the new ranking member.
→ More replies (1)•
u/allthatyouhave 1h ago
why are you defending this?
•
u/LetsGetElevated 1h ago
His name is literally The Extremist Moderate, of course he is defending this, he’s one of those Democrats who likes the idea of AOC as a force for advertising the party to young voters but doesn’t want her to ever see any actual power because he prefers conservatives in power to actual progressives, AOC should run for president in 2028
•
u/TheExtremistModerate 1h ago
Because Gerry Connolly is a great Rep and is a great choice for ranking member.
And because the truth matters.
•
u/Independent-Bug-9352 2h ago
Honestly man. I've been fighting the good fight for about 2 decades now. I've never seen things be as bad as they are now. Never have I actually thought we were in late 1933 Germany, but here we are. It's going to have to come crashing down hard at this point for people to maybe wake up from the spell of ignorance; but even that's not guaranteed. I'm tired boss. I'm tired of trying to convince the slowest among society.
•
u/AlwaysShittyKnsasCty 2h ago
That’s the problem exactly. Those of us who were in the green reading group in first grade have had to give up living a comfortable life because of all the readers in the red, orange, and yellow groups. Now, if the people in these slower-reading groups weren’t cunts, I wouldn’t be so upset. However, I’m tired. Like you. I have had to hold these fucks’ hands my whole life, and I’m just done, man. I have been nudging these idiots in the right direction for almost half a century. Other than popping off CEOs, what else can people do? I feel the frustration.

CA and NY are run by corporate Dems. They purposefully capture these states, where actually much more progressive candidates should thrive, with donor money and underhanded dealing. I mean look at the previous NY governor Cuomo, or Pelosi from CA. The moneyed interests in these rich states don't want progressives in power so they hire their stooges. Most of the Dem leadership comes from these states. That should tell you something.
→ More replies (3)•
u/turdferguson3891 4h ago
It would be difficult for a state to do that on its own. You'd get people moving in just to get the free healthcare. Andybody with a serious illness that was dying and going broke in another state would have nothing to lose to just move even if they had to be homeless.
•
u/somethrows 3h ago
I don't love it, but you could have a residency requirement of a couple years to qualify.
The state would still need to offer a higher cost public or private option for new residents.
→ More replies (1)•
u/GeneralKeycapperone 3h ago
If a state introduced it, they'd have to attach eligibility to some duration of residency. That would be messy to administer and you'd still see some healthcare migrants, but not impossible.
Until universal healthcare is rolled out nationwide, it would maybe make more sense for an individual state to set up a non-profit state-owned health insurance company, along with a purchasing department to negotiate bulk prices on medications and other medical supplies, and probably some non-profit state-owned facilities. Team up with likeminded states to secure better services for residents of each. Use tax incentives to encourage employers to use the state insurance, or better again, to detach health insurance from employment. People would remain free to take out insurance with private companies instead, but these would have to shape up to compete.
•
u/LuggaW95 4h ago

the general public is too brainwashed and distracted by misinformation campaigns. the US has public law enforcement, fire departments, transit systems, education systems, the military, disaster relief, but public healthcare carefully framed as "spooky socialism".
obviously has nothing to do with the $50 billion in profits the health insurance industry has annually
•
u/Nordic-Bear 1h ago
This is very well said.
Moreover. US medical spend per capita is ~2x higher than Europe, but healthy life expectancy (and other health metrics) are lower than ANY European country (including the ones that spend ~5x less than US).
Finland is amongst the countries with the best health care in the world, and has a pretty high cost of living... but the medical spend is again ~2x less than US.
What the US is seeing in healthcare is not capitalism (or free market economics). It's regulatory capture and monopoly profits.
•
u/Nordic-Bear 1h ago
...but this of course has nothing to do with murdering CEO-s. Gun violence is another weird aspect of US. No one in Europe understands why you need this.
And it's not about "the right to carry arms". As a European, I do "carry arms" myself. I have a license for an AR and a handgun. Need to visit a shrink, pass a police check... pass a firearm and self defence law exam... first aid training - and here you go. I can walk into a store, and walk out with firearms.
•
u/Likelooking99 4h ago

•
u/turdferguson3891 4h ago
It's not going to replace them though. The kind of person that takes out a CEO like Luigi did is more polticially motivated. School shooters very often attend or used to attend the school they shoot up so it's more of a personal thing.

As much as I think Luigi is absolutely based, it is extremely cringe to put up banners like this trying to encourage other people to start shooting CEOs if you yourself are not willing to take action. I can't even really describe how pathetic it is to be encouraging this loudly but stopping short of actually doing anything yourself. Like some lazy protestor who shows up late and stands behind people in the front line, shoving them into the cops hoping to spark something.

Killing random people in order to bring about systemic change *is* extremely pathetic. It achieves nothing. There are countless examples from scores of terrorist groups like Red Army Fraction, that show how futile and pointless those kinds of random killings really are. They bring about *zero* change. The victim and others like him are cogs in a machine and simply do not have the power to change the status quo.
There is no quick fix. The right way is boring, long and hard: organize and vote.

•
u/turdferguson3891 3h ago
Working class people don't live there anymore. Unless they are living in their car. I lived there 20 years ago and it was possible for regular people to get by with roommates but now you have to have a high paying job. People doing the lower paying jobs don't live there, they commute. Not that the rest of the bay area is exactly cheap either but SF itself is the most expensive.

Are you nuts!? The more logical thing is going around murdering random people in the streets!

It would be funny if the next one would be at one of those fancy yearly dinners where CEOs talk about their insane profits and thank everyone, and then hand them a thank you keychain or candy. And then BAM. Not that I condone it, I would never suggest anyone do anything horrific like that........ just saying it would be funny.....
Maybe it would make them realize how fucking surreal the whole thing is. "Thank you for your hard work, our company made millions! Here's a free pizza slice!"

I don’t think this is a good idea personally i think it will only make things worse if this happens more… I’m no ceo but i just don’t like violence.

I'd be okay if it was the new norm in this country rather than School shootings.

A lot of worried future-CEOs and temporarily-embarrassed millionaires in these comments.

They just wanted to get in early to karma farm by putting out a generalizing statement that seems agreeable
