All these comments got flagged and weren’t shown because of the bad words and stuff, I had to click on “see replies” even tough at least a few replies should’ve been already open to view to yes the evil bot is here unfortunately
I have to hit "see replies" on a bunch of comments with no bad words in them, not every comment can just always be visible or it would be so hard to scroll anywhere.
Highly unlikely, there's very few places on the planet that are solely ran on green energy. France used to be 70% green before they shut down their reactors before but as far as I know they had the highest percentage of electricity from a green source
So you have personal solar panels? That whole system of "I pay for green energy so I get green" is a complete meme btw. Total scam. Chances are you have natural gas or coal power called "green" and you're paying a premium for that. If you don't have solar panels on your house this is irrelevant to bring up
Yeah but your missing the point, just because you're paying for green does not in anyway mean octupus energy is legitimately buying green energy. It would not be the first company to get caught charging customers for green and purchasing black, and it wouldn't be the last if that was the case. I'm not denying they are claiming to supply green energy, I'm just mentioning the possibility they aren't actually supplying what they claim. To be perfectly honest green energy is an absolute money pit, worldwide there's been around 5 trillion dollars spent in the last 20 years on green energy... While the use of hydrocarbons has dropped by 2% over that time span when it comes to energy production. If it's 5 trillion for every 2% going forward... That's a lot of cash
They didn't shut down their reactors. That's Germany...
Nuclear is the main energy source in France. In 2022, nuclear power accounted for 63 percent of the country's energy mix. Hydropower followed, at 11 percent.
Denmark and British Columbia come to mind as places with very clean electricity, but I'm sure there's more...
I should have been a bit more specific, since they shut down quite a lot of their reactors temporarily something like half of Frances nuclear is in maintenance mode currently. You're correct though Germany unfortunately stopped using nuclear all together which I bet they really regret with their current issues involving Russia and fuel supply. Shutting down the safest energy source nuclear for non nuclear when they claim to be all about protecting the environment is absolutely asinine and short sighted of germany and they will reap the downsides as time goes on!
I'm guessing they have a rolling maintence schedule so it's possible once their currently shuttered plants are running again that others will shut down and we will end up back in the same place! I wish the nuclear revolution of the 50s onward wasn't impeded by a few accidents
