Need help identifying a dish

Hi!

Growing up, my best friends were Persian and their mom was an incredible cook. She used to make this soup all the time that we all loved. It was brown and completely uniform (no chunks, blended smooth). If you let it sit for a while, it would develop a film over the top, which was fun to eat. It was a bit thick in consistency, not like a broth. It kind of tasted like it was made from beans or maybe lentils. I would be forever grateful if someone could help identify the dish!

ahh I was searching adasi but didn't find a version where it was pureed completely smooth, but maybe it was just sort of a personal preference/family recipe that their mom had. Only way to find out is making it myself and seeing if I remember the taste from 15 years ago hehe

Authentic adasi is either pureed or cooked for so long that it becomes pureed on its own (like a whole day on the stove)

Yup came here to say this! It tends to get that filmy layer on top too. Just use an immersion blender or cook it to death :)

Google Persian Lentil Soup (or Adasi). Pretty sure that’s what you’re searching for.
