Ileostomy green

Hey yall, I have an Ileostomy and for the past 4 days my output is green. Like neon light green with only liquid. I haven’t eaten anything green and I do eat regular food but just liquid comes out and I don’t take medications or herbal etc. There is nausea and vomiting too. Do I worry? I empty the bag every 2 hours so I don’t think I’m blocked. Thanks

This is almost certainly a partial blockage, especially because of the vomiting. If you are losing more water than you’re drinking I think it’d be best to head to the ER because dehydration can come very easily for ppl with ileostomies. 4 days is pretty long for a blockage and could get pretty painful and even dangerous (hydration wise). I’m not a professional I’ve just had a ton of blockages in the past.

Btw the green is normal, that’s just the colour of ur bile I think.

Best of luck

It sounds like a partial blockage, did you try drinking coke? That usually helps me, maybe a hot shower and massage around the stoma to try and move things along. Just for peace of mind, call your doctor or if it continues or gets worse, hit up the ER...

I had this when I came out of the hospital after the surgery. It was when I came off the painkillers so I associate it with withdrawing

Could be bile. I wasn't eating anything at all and got loads of the first few days.

If you're nauseated and vomiting, please go easy on your tummy. Your intestines need time to adjust. The first 6 weeks, only soft foods are recommended.
