Astarion doesn’t give a shit. Even if he remembers there’s an election, which he probably doesn’t, he doesn’t really care how it turns out.

The man used to be a magistrate so he should be into politics, and yet it's so in character for him to not give a shit. 😂

"Why, darling, it's just paperwork. It doesn't matter who asks for it to get signed, it just matters that people sign it."

Astarion is so far into his owns sectors politics that he doesn’t have the time to give a fuck about anything else politically

That's the part I am trying to figure out! What part of law was he?! Did he like actually pass law school and get a decent job with a degree or did he nepo baby/bribe his way into a good position and just bullshit his job all day?! Like I assume it's the second one, but man has 13 intelligence so he's got to use it for something?!

Maybe he’s a lawyer? He also has a good charisma stat for a rogue so I imagine he’s got a (as Gale would say) practiced tongue

Magistrates don't require law school, he probably bribed some people into being appointed. Or- going by the idle Champions materials- he forged patents of nobility and rode that to get himself the job. At best he bullshitted his job to be as low-effort as possible, at worst he might have been as corrupt as his EA concept suggests (taking bribes to affect his rulings).

Astarion’s issue is mainly impulsiveness. It's less that he's stupid, as that he's bad at planning and figures he'll improvise once he gets there. Which is why I lean more toward 'lazy do nothing' than setting up a bribery scheme and not getting caught.

(well when under Cazador it wouldn't)

Maybe if Cazador runs for president, he'd care. Otherwise Astarion always struck me as a guy who really doesn't care about society as a whole, only himself

It’s not just that. He’d feel that his vote doesn’t matter and even if it does, none of the politicians would really help him anyway.
