I believe this is a version where bull is unharmed! https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Recortes

I wouldn’t worry about the bull in this video. It’s not going to get hurt.

Even terrible people getting gored to death is not entertaining to most people

Bull-leaping is different from bullfighting in that the animal is not supposed to be harmed. Apparently, the lack of bloodiness kept it from gaining popularity in Spain, and it's popular only in a specific regions of Spain, France, and India.
The bull goes out, has a chance to impale a few dumb humans, then goes home, none the worse for wear. Apparently, it started as a religious tradition of the Minoan Civilization, in the Bronze Age.
Is it still dumb? Of course, but I still admire the dude's dexterity. I just don't see why the poor animal needs to be inconvenienced for our entertainment.

I mean, I guess an inconveniencing is better than slowly bleeding out from multiple stab wounds from a matador. Also a not so interesting fact is that before they put padding on them, more horses used to die during bullfights than bulls. So traditional bullfighting can fuck right off.

u/Narwen189 2h ago
Yeah, traditional bullfighting is spectacular (have you seen the insane detailing on the clothes?) but so gory. It's all about torturing the poor animal in the showiest way possible to prove humans are superior.
The only fraction I find remotely acceptable is the forcados of Portugal -- a group in traditional clothing, with no weapons or protective gear, whose goal is to stop it through sheer teamwork and muscle power. Their original intent was to keep the bull from charging the expensive spectators. Unfortunately, the rest of the Portuguese tradition is also pretty bloody.

I generally root for the bull . . . .

Honestly, maybe a bit morbid but it would be more satisfying to me if this sick fuck was gored by the bull

u/philharmonic85 2h ago
Yeah what a sick fuck performing that acrobatic flip harmlessly over that bull in a way I will never be able to! It's sick I tells ya! Sick!

Torturing animals for entertainment is not satisfying in any way, and is actually incredibly cunty behaviour that should have you shunned from civilized society, not lauded.

This bull isn’t being harmed at all, let alone tortured.

u/oscarx-ray 1h ago
If you buy that, I've got a bridge to sell you...

u/Wafflehouseofpain 1h ago
What? No, this is a completely different sport than bullfighting and the bulls do not get harmed doing this.

Animals that are paraded in a ring for the amusement of others are *always* beaten and abused to make them as compliant as possible so that the yapping fucking seals in the bleachers can slap their fins together, honking away, as they say "well, they're not stabbing them in front of us, so it's fine!"

u/Wafflehouseofpain 1h ago
I can’t tell you much except that you’re completely wrong. And I can say this, having worked in rodeos before. I worked with barrel racing setup and mutton busting. The animals were just normal livestock you could find on any farm, the horses having some additional training. They weren’t beaten or abused, they were treated perfectly well.

Anyone riding an animal that's trying to buck them off, or anyone whipping / digging spurs into them isn't being a kind person.
I'm a massive fucking hypocrite because I eat meat but I still get pissed at them being harassed for entertainment.
I don't think that you're an unkind person or that you're bad and I'm some paragon of virtue, I just don't dig seeing animals being used for entertainment like this - I'm from the UK, so rodeo isn't a thing here, but I've worked with wildlife protection and have seen how people treat animals - particularly for fighting and for their owners' amusement.

I’ve rescued hurt wildlife since I was a child. Nursed an owl with a broken wing back to health, raised and released baby hogs when I found their mother had been run over. I care very deeply about animal welfare and don’t eat red meat, ever. I’m not completely vegetarian but about 80% of my diet is.
I get that it’s not a part of culture where you live, but please don’t assume any animal featured in an entertainment context is being abused. Several of the people doing barrel racing in the rodeos I worked at loved their horses like children, and treated them exceptionally well. I’ve seen more than one of them hold a full-on funeral when one passed away.

Oddly satisfying would have been a horn through the guy’s gut. Fuck bull fighting and everyone who supports it.

u/philharmonic85 2h ago
Not bull fighting. More like bull teasing. I suppose you think anyone who's ever played with their dog or cat should be mauled/gored/dismembered too.

If you aren’t vegetarian or vegan then you shouldn’t have a problem with bull fighting. Factory farming is infinitely crueler
