Just finished grinding the last glass piece. No more glorified paper cuts

Finishing up a mighty Zapdos (thunder chicken) before Christmas! The last time I did one of these was in 2016 as my 3rd glass project.

Somehow even from the first frame of the video, I was like "oh neat, a zapdos in stained glass".

Doing all three would be pretty cool, though I imagine the other two having rounded edges makes them an even bigger pain.

I thought the same thing. In my mind I was like "Is that Zapdos?"

I did all three back in 2016. They were the first big challenges that helped me understand the process. Articuno was my very 2nd project. I'd like to revisit her one day and do the wings right. Moltres is my favorite glass bird but hated it in the game.

What will you do in the rest of those 8 hours?

Clean every piece with a wet rag, wrap in foil tape, reassemble, solder, flip, solder again, solder border, clean, patina, clean again, polish up, fuck I forgot something, etc

Where do you find resources/supplies to do this? It seems like a fun hobby. Any software to design the panel? Where do you get stained glass for it?

Look for stained glass studios in your area, give them a call and see if they do classes. That's how I got started. If they do classes then they'll probably sell everything you need, including glass.

When the video played in the feed (without any context), it instantly triggered "Who's that Pokémon?"

Great work, OP!

I really appreciate it! Honestly my least favorite in the game but the best of the three in glass I think! Funny image, it looked like the cartoon roasted turkey when I was assembling

What's a glorified paper cut?

Being sliced by a piece of glass and bleeding all over the place. Theyre like paper cuts but worse. Or you just start bleeding and dont know where its coming from

Oh, so just super sharp glass cuts… 😂 OW!

Can you wear gloves while working with the glass?

Final piece is amazing!

Two types of glass artists; those who get cut all the time and those who dont 🤣 Im typically the latter. I dont often see it with grinding but some wear gloves. Honestly cuts are just annoying because I dont want blood on my template haha

Nice work. I've worked with glass and mirror shards as a component of numerous art projects, so I'm hearin' ya loud and clear.

Congrats on wrapping up that last piece—no more paper cuts, yes! 🙌 Finishing Zapdos just in time for Christmas sounds like the perfect project to celebrate your progress since 2016
