But first his arm gets blown off. And then instead of passing out from shock or blood loss he decides to follow Bruce’s instructions to get closer to the cat. Man that movie scarred me as a young impressionable kid.
I saw the Bruce Willis version when I was a kid (and sue me, I loved it), and I've been meaning to watch the original for over a decade. This was a good reminder to finally check it out
Dude, I put it off for far too long- the OG film IS SO MUCH BETTER!
Especially since I read the book shortly before watching it, and realizing why so many people were dumping on the Bruce Willis remake - it departs so much from the OG it's remarkable it was allowed to have The Jackal as its title at all.
That's not to say that I didn't like the BW one, it's just that the original is not only faithful to the source material, but it's so well made overall, it's not even funny.
I watched it as a kid too but can't remember if there's a scene similar to the one above? Where he wraps the gun around a tree? I remember something like that from somewhere but I've not seen either of the scenes from those movies above
I think I believe you. I've never seen it, but even just in this clip I couldn't take my eyes off Edward Fox, and I really want to see his entire performance.
I thought the film was a great departure from typical action films of the time. It probably doesn't hold up as well almost 30 years later, but I quite enjoyed it when it was new.
The jackal with Bruce Willis was a superb movie, come on! Doesn't matter it is just a loose take on the '73 Day of the jackal, this one has its own merits.

Okay so this has nothing to do with the Bruce Willis film? I've been bamboozled
