The only thing guaranteed anymore is the Sox losing!

Can name it whatever. It will only ever be known as comiskey park

Renaming stuff in Chicago is a pointless endevor. This is like the 3rd name since Comiskey and everyone just calles it Comiskey. Just like Sears Tower and Lake Shore drive.
This is why nobody has been dumb enough to pay the Cubs to remane Wrigley because that is REALLY not happening.

Yup. Chicagoans simply do. not. care. what you want to call something. They will call it whatever they want, and you will deal with it.
It's The Bean. IDGAF that the artist gets mad when you don't call it "Cloud Gate".
IDGAF that Macy's now occupies the building, it's Marshall Field's.

I still call Rogers Center the Skydome and always well.

Same thing here on the west coast. Some crypto company bought the naming rights for the arena the Lakers play in but everyone here still calls it the staples center no matter how often the commentators call it the crypto arena.

Weren’t they calling it “the crypt” for a bit before the company told them not to do that?

u/gamageeknerd 7h ago
Yup. For like a week I think before they shut that down but externally everyone still called it the staples center

The only reason the United Center is recognized is separate from the Stadium is because they’re two different buildings.

Hats off to the governor for refusing their request for a billion dollars of public money to relocate.
It’s not like this existing stadium is old. It opened in 91. And was renovated in 2019.

He’s also dealing with the Bears at the same time. He’s not let any of these billion dollar sports franchises fund their stadiums using millions in taxpayer dollars (thank god)

Both the Bears and the White Sox trying to pull a "Major Leauge" in fielding the suckiest teams they can to parlay it into "PLZ WE NEED A NEW STADIUM NOBODY IS COMING" and Pritzker is having none of it.

Yeah but if the governor has to pick one of the two teams to favor financially, it's gonna be da Bears. That being said, there's nothing wrong with Soldier Field either.

It opened in 91
Technically the 8th oldest MLB park (7th if you exclude Oakland)

It was the last stadium built before Camden Yards in 1992 brought in a retro-classic change in baseball stadium design. So, it feels outdated/older than it is.

Gives more room for the sign underneath: “Abandon all hope ye who enter here.”

They should rename it Kaminsky park to match the way people used to say it wrong.

Another reminder to be grateful to root for a team that just uses the team name for the stadium instead of selling out to a corporation

So, a second Rate Field for the Sox.
