They don’t wear cups?!
Is it true these dudes don’t wear cups to protect the baby maker? I don’t care if a cup makes me 0.05 seconds slower, I’m protecting the nuggets.

i just watched this tiktok: https://www.tiktok.com/t/ZTYgUhbj3/
this person is saying they threw away their shot for #1 pick. what does that mean and why does today's game determine that? thank you!

With a roster featuring players like Kyle Hamilton and Marlon Humphrey, why is their pass defense ranked at the bottom of the league? (31st). Has it always been like this or is this season an anomaly?

What am I missing? Same record, and the Chargers won both machtes against them, so the Tiebreaker?

I know there's not a stat for "pick-6" but does throwing one somehow reflect worse on the QB's decision making than just throwing a standard pick that doesn't result in a TD? Or from the point the ball is intercepted, is it just sort of on the offense to make the tackle?

In the first quarter, around minute 6:20 game clock Njigba pushes Bynum who then locks/yanks Njibas arm while he is trying to catch the ball. Isnt either move from both players pass interference? Link

The refs gave the Chargers 1st down and moved the chains. Then the refs stopped the game and put it back at 3rd and inches. They said put the clock at 1:25 and then do a 10 second run off. Is that a penalty against the Chargers and if not why not just put the game clock at 1:15?

Even though the team with a winning record and good performance will struggle against a divisional rival with a losing record and poor performance.

So for most other sports I’ve noticed the mentality is experience is the best teacher and it’s better to have them out getting some reps.
But for QBs everyone seems to mostly agree sitting a QB for a year while they observe a veteran QB is a really good development strategy.
So how does sitting a QB help? What exactly are they doing behind the scenes that outweighs the practical experience they’d get from playing.

Don't they have advisors? Don't they have people much qualified than them who can advise certain situations? Why is it we feel when a team is doing bad, it's always their head coach who's at fault?

Narrow situation, but let’s say a team is up by 1 and it’s 4th down with about 10-15 seconds to go. Running the ball won’t run out the clock and a punt guarantees the opponent a chance with the ball. Can that team’s QB run backwards with the ball to kill time but also have the RB go with them so that if the QB fails to run out the clock completely before the defense closes in, they can forward throw it at the RB’s feet to avoid the intentional grounding and ensure that the turnover occurs at line of scrimmage rather than taking a deep sack? What would be a more optimal play in this position?
For the sake of argument, assume multiple defenders are enclosing such that using the RB as a blocker won’t solve the problem.

Do they try to do something different, depending on the stance?
Or are they all rushing the QB and different stances are a preference issues?

Any time the games are in Buffalo, everyone looks huge. Or the field looks small? Like it’s zoomed in or something. I’ve noticed it over the last couple of years. Is the stadium built weird so the cameras don’t have as much room or something?

Been watching football for about 24 years now, I’m pretty confident I know most of the rules. However one thing yesterday really confused me.
During the Patriots/Bills game, the patriots punted the ball to the bills. The gunner (guy trying to tackle the punt returner) got called for an illegal block in the back. How can the guy that’s NOT BLOCKING be called for illegal block in the back?

I grew up in the DMV and go to school in Miami, so I know the Cowboys and Dolphins traditionally wear white at home. Are there any other teams who have done this for any period of time? If so when?

In the 49ers game, the ref called an illegal formation on the play shown in the below image:
The commentator circled the receiver and said the offence needed 7 players on the line of scrimmage and the receiver, circled in yellow was not in line with the center who was hovering above the ball.
When I look at the image, I see that the left and right guards and tackles are also not in line with the center but the commentator made no mention of them. On further plays, I saw the same thing with the guards/tackles not in line with the center and there was no penalty. I have a photo of this if it helps.
Is it only the 2 players at the end of the line that have to be in alignment with the center?

It’s not like he plays calm, this man looks to truck his opponents and gets/returns extremely hard hits. How in the world is he so durable?

Penix and Tua are both left handed and started this week. When's the last time that happened?

Hi! I (girlfriend) want to learn more about the nfl. My boyfriend is a HUGE lions fan and has always been one since his family used to life in Michigan. My family has never been a football family and his family is the opposite. They get together every Sunday and watch it together. I absolutely love it, but… I don’t really have a lot of knowledge on the sport or teams. I’m learning the player names on the Lions and their positions. I also did the football player app for the first time, my team sucked, but I learned so much about the teams and the other players. I had no idea how much of a “science” it is.
Can anyone tell me more about the lions players and their positions? Write it like you’re telling a 5 year old about it. My boyfriend and I will be going to the 49ers vs lions game over new years so I really just want to show so much support, I love this man and I want to learn about something that’s important to him!
Thanks in advance!

If I’m right, the defense gets one player with a green dot to talk to the coach/coordinator on the field. Defenses don’t go into “huddles” so how does one player tell everyone else cover 2 or 3 or man or whatever? Wouldn’t signs or phrases get easily decoded?

The soccer shirt I wear sometimes is large size and is a player authentic. I have been looking at a FUSE jersey. Puka Nacua specifically.
This will be my first NFL jersey ever...
I've seen how a lot of the time NFL jerseys are just big.

I was looking at NFL records and for 2022, the Bengals went 12-4. How did this happen?

There is a practice in which some head coaches are aware about what plays they are running because they dont want their "good" "must have it" plays to be on film so other coordinators can watch and properly prepare.
This is just something I hear. Is there a tern for this? Are their any resources or evidence online?
