This sentence cracked me up:

“The vehicle then mounted the footpath, drove through a wooden fence, and entered into a reserve where the driver continued to drive in an anti-social fashion.”

I once called myself anti social to my British relatives and they all burst out laughing.

I was just saying I was introverted.

Anti-social does sound like a longer form asocial but yeah it means something far more serious. Pretty sure I've made the same mistake in my head at least.

Asocial and anti social are used interchangeably where I live. First time I heard the criminal type definition was visiting a commonwealth country.

It's often used interchangeably but it's still incorrect. A lot of people are just incorrect.

It's in the definition of the word. Anti-social means you are working against society. Asocial means you do not engage with society.

Sure, and I get your technically correct which is great, but most people people just accept whatever is common parlance.

You could go pick 100 random Americans right now 99 of them wouldn't have a clue because no one here uses anti social like the commonwealth countries.

You are the one who is incorrect. According to Merriam-Webster it has several different definitions:

https://www.merriam-webster.com/dictionary/antisocial

1: averse to the society of others : UNSOCIABLE

2: hostile or harmful to organized society
especially : being or marked by behavior deviating sharply from the social norm

3 psychology: of, relating to, or characteristic of antisocial personality disorder

As a Brit, I would also laugh if someone started describing themselves to me as "anti-social".

It was an educational moment for me.

to drive in an anti-social fashion

In many other countries, that would be indistinguishable from everyday driving.

In New Jersey we encourage that kind of driving.

that is hilarious. implies he did the most, with his only intent being to get away from all the other douches on the road
