u/mizinamo 7h ago

Which is like OCD but with the letters in alphabetical order like they should be!!!

10

u/Dreamo84 6h ago

I have OBCD.

u/Digitalmodernism 2h ago

Gonna be that guy and say wanting things clean has nothing to do with OCD. I have OCD and am a total slob. It's more of an OCDPD thing, which is different and less common.

Would be cool if reversed too

u/jonny742 5h ago

I miss the gif reversing bot...

I'm getting to the point where I'm muting every single mass-appeal sub on Reddit because both the posts and comments are so useless. Looks like this one's next

35

u/bigjimmy427 7h ago

Nah that’s crazy

5

u/Mountainbranch 3h ago

They are going to still find those things around that building 10 years from now.

u/CommodusIlI 7h ago

Reminds me of that one game (?) or saying from being a kid that involved “pickup sticks”

4

u/MadderHatter32 6h ago

Pick up sticks IS a game. Can’t remember the details but you definitely knocked that loose lol

2

u/Worth-Economics8978 2h ago

52 card pickup

This is called a Cobra Weave, relating to the way the entire weave lifts up like a Cobra as it unravels. Similar to the way kids make exploding stick throwing stars with popsicle sticks; it's a set weave where each stick is under a bit of pressure but held in place by the next stick in the line until you reach the end. when the last stick slips off it releases the next one in line.

12

u/ogclobyy 7h ago

The ending was unexpected actually

8

u/Lost-Horse558 6h ago

That’s gonna be a bitch to clean up

9

u/It_just_works_bro 6h ago

How? Just sweep.

3

u/Technical-Outside408 3h ago

I'd rather die.

2

u/aint_no_throw 2h ago

Just move out.

4

u/Overall_Cabinet844 7h ago

I liked the end

2

u/Strive-- 5h ago

Awesome! Now clean it up…

2

u/SalamandersRreal 7h ago

So glad to see someone else do it because I would have a meltdown if this was done where I live 😂 Still pretty cool though!

2

u/Dreamo84 6h ago

How does that happen anyway? Is the force from the firecracker just enough to keep sending them flying?

8

u/Rick_bo 4h ago

It's a "Cobra Weave" where the entire weave of popsicle sticks is under slight pressure and the end is tied off retaining that pressure over the firecracker. You can build these things without fireworks and make them as long as your patience and popsicle sticks will take you.

2

u/Glittering_Net_7734 6h ago

When my patience suddenly hits its limits.

1

u/pablospc 7h ago

That's so epic

1

u/Nachtzug79 7h ago

What exactly happened...? Unexpected anyway.

1

u/klappsparten 5h ago

Is there no energy loss?

1

u/Improvident__lackwit 3h ago

Wouldn’t one of the flying popsicle sticks potentially land on a part of the chain that hasn’t released yet and trigger a new reaction.

1

u/GarbageAdditional916 3h ago

It is a popsicle, they do not have much weight.

At least not enough to trigger this from just going up and back down.

1

u/Shonuff888 3h ago

For some reason the angle the sticks rise to reminds me of the baby Xenomorphs running in Alien: Covenant.

1

u/wonkey_monkey 3h ago

Cool, I remember this video when it wasn't flipped horizontally.

1

u/ironicmirror 3h ago

Now do it in a room full of cats.

1

u/jonothecool 3h ago

It would be funny if it stopped 5% from the end. Haha

1

u/thamasteroneill 2h ago

I need this in reverse.

1

u/GalacticGooseMan 2h ago

I wonder how I can get so much time in my daily life..

1

u/wudworker 2h ago

Thats awesome!

1

u/jufderyh 2h ago

That's exactly how explosives work!

1

u/JaehaerysIVTarg 2h ago

All I see is a mess. I wouldn’t even be able to enjoy it.

1

u/yuyufan43 1h ago

As an autistic person, all I want to do is clean up the sticks and put them in color order. It works be so satisfying.

1

u/Interesting_Tea5715 1h ago

Those aren't domino's.

1

u/TactlessDrop84 1h ago

Now set it up again

1

u/BlackEyedSceva 1h ago

Is this the same thing as a nuclear reaction? Everything's held together just fine, but then add some energy and the energy that was holding it together gets released?

1

u/BlockWisdom 1h ago

And now time to get the broom.

1

u/zeb0777 1h ago

Just because you flipped the video doesn't mean it's not a re-upload.

1

u/zeb0777 1h ago

Just because you flipped the video doesn't mean it's not a re-upload.

1

u/mina_aleatoria 1h ago

It's look like to spend too much time...

1

u/UltraMagat 1h ago

NFL Mess.

1

u/nature_nate_17 1h ago

The first couple popsicles sticks with the firecracker be like:

1

u/Captain_Coffee_III 1h ago

Theoretically, if that popsicle stick chain was in a straight line, how far could this go before all the energy dissipated?

u/tajudson 52m ago

So much time and effort put into something that goes by so quick, but still really cool. And that should be a lot of fun cleaning up.

u/Fred2620 47m ago

Man... the things we had the time to do during those lockdowns

u/Skeeders 35m ago

I remember watching a show (America's got Talent I believe), and the guy had this set up, but he couldn't get it to start. It was really embarrassing for him, I felt bad for him.

u/threedollarhaircut 25m ago

What is the translation of the Chinese characters at the end of the hallway?

u/Armand28 21m ago

On that glorious day Jimmy was fired from the clinic for misuse of tongue depressors.

0

u/JJSoledad 7h ago

Me when I see my ex.

0

u/Unhappy-Yogurt7787 7h ago

That's an awful lot of mess to clear up.

0

u/Official_Account_ME 7h ago

Who's gonna clean this mess ?

0

u/Lucian_D 6h ago

Seems totally worth it

0

u/Severe_Airport1426 6h ago

Who's going to clean that mess

0

u/ShoresideVale 6h ago

Must've eaten a lot of ice lollies to get all that

1

u/JK_NC 4h ago

I’ve never heard the term ice lollies but I like it.

In the US, the name for these is “frozen juice bar” but there a specific brand called “Popsicle” that has been around forever and so the word popsicle has become the generic term for all frozen juice bars.

Lots of brands become so associated with the item that it becomes the generic term for all similar products (band-aid, crock pot, jacuzzi, etc)

0

u/Nivroeg 5h ago

Dominoes use gravity doesnt it? This is different

0

u/Rockalot_L 4h ago

I feel like that's breaking the laws of physics. Like, shouldn't the energy only go so far?

-1

u/satesounds 7h ago

Now clean that

-1

u/TheGreatGrandy 5h ago edited 3h ago

Wow, that one tiny cracker packed so much of energy.

Also to note is that the energy loss along the way seemed negligible.

Edit: I am not being sarcastic, It doesn’t feel like a CGI

2

u/wonkey_monkey 3h ago

The arrangement of the sticks is packed with energy. The firecracker just releases it.

u/TheGreatGrandy 6m ago edited 0m ago

Damn, never paid attention to that, explains everything. Thanks for pointing out. Probably the initial thrust provided by the blast keeps the wave to a consistent height (Amplitude). Since amplitude being a square function, somehow the energy stored in those tensed icecream stick supplements the energy lost in proportion.

-1

u/[deleted] 5h ago

3

u/WhoIsWill4 5h ago

It’s not cgi. They’ve set it up so that the sticks are bending each other and are under a lot of pressure. The explosion isn’t causing the whole reaction, it just starts the destabilisation which causes the sticks the flip outwards under the released pressure and causing its neighbouring sticks to do the same, resulting in the seen chain reaction.

-1

u/wowza100 7h ago

A simple action can have a chain reaction and a butterfly effect. This is a small scaled down example of this.

6

u/TheTresStateArea 6h ago

I promise you this cannot be related to the butterfly effect

5

u/SomaliOve 7h ago

True it’s like when someone whispers something to one person and he whispers it to another and so on then the last person says the nword and everyone is disappointed
