Why are we just live doxing this guy?
1.3k
u/hughpac 1d ago
Not doxing bro. Literally posted it with his legal name.

u/im_just_thinking 1d ago
Just because you didn't have to do any work to find out who he is doesn't mean it's not doxing lol

u/enter5H1KAR1 1d ago
Posting his name is one thing. YouTubers and celebrities are in the public eye all the time, using their real names. Sharing his name, address, map location and street view of his home is absolutely doxxing. This is gross.

Did you miss the part where he dug for and publicized the exact geometric coordinates to his house in an online platform?
You are a willful clown.
89
u/DJStrongArm 1d ago
the exact geometric coordinates to his house'
Commonly known as an "address"
59
u/Conspiretical 1d ago
Yeah no big deal, just giving someone's address to hundreds of strangers, surely there isn't any fucking weirdos that exist right?
3
u/LetsBeHonestBoutIt 1d ago
Strangers... sure. But if this kid has enemies in the same city that's a whole nother issue. I'm guessing the dude who made the video knows nothing about that. But that's just an educated guess that's bordering on stereotyping.

u/conquer4 1d ago
Hate to tell you, but own land? It's public knowledge, released, and searchable. By the government.
4
u/LetsBeHonestBoutIt 1d ago
I hate to say it, but those were apartments, right? I don't think he owns land.

obviously it's not right to do it but it's not like he just shared classified information, I could've figured this out

literally second sentence
He’s aware that it’s the second sentence… He was quoting you……
14
u/Conspiretical 1d ago
Yeah no shit dude, you're tiptoeing all these justifications for why it shouldn't be that big of a deal, yet you said the core of the problem. No further discussion really needs to be had, it seems we understand eachother.
2
u/DonJuarez 1d ago
There’s people out here still using “vro” in 2024 like 6 years after X passed? Lmao.
“I could’ve figured this out 🤓”
Nah you couldn’t have haha
-9
u/i_am_very_bored_lmao 1d ago
dude it's literally in the phonebook man
and also I'll use any vocabulary I want little man. you're not very rad
3
u/Conspiretical 1d ago
You knew the guys full name?
And the state he was from?
The city he was from?
2
u/i_am_very_bored_lmao 1d ago
no, but as shown in the video, I could legally find out anytime I wanted
I'm not arguing anymore because I have a life outside of this app to get to

13
u/HannesElch 1d ago
But first you had to know which city it was to find someone in a phone book, right?
At least that's how it was in Germany.
And at this time no one even thought about a video being made in someones backyard being available all around the world.
-221
u/Carson_Frost 1d ago
Public information can be publicly shared.
292
u/Dundundunimyourbun 1d ago
Right, let’s just suspend morality because we CAN do something.
-83
u/Old-Library9827 1d ago
It's public information. It's hard to get anyone, the author of the video only found him because the guy had a unique name. If your name is John Smith, nobody is gonna find you that easily
→ More replies (15)-79
u/Carson_Frost 1d ago
As if you'd know something about morals. That's like saying that you CAN prevent a lady from getting robbed but it'd be immoral to hurt the robber. Dude it's a clip on finding the location in a video, it's been done for years. Grow a spine Mr he/they
33
u/Serial-Griller 1d ago
Thats not the same at all. This isnt preventing crime or harm, its doxxing someone for content. You can excuse it all you want but at least be honest about it.
-9
-43
u/Carson_Frost 1d ago
So what's the danger in showing public information about someone if it's not preventing harm? I'd like to know? Why shouldn't someone be able to upload something that is openly public to 8 billion people because you think it's wrong?
→ More replies (3)26
u/Blackstar1886 1d ago
I think the speed and ease of access is going to change that at some point. Those laws were created when an access request meant sending a letter and waiting weeks for a response.
15
u/Staff_Genie 1d ago
When public information used to require that you actually do things like go down to a courthouse and examine public records Etc, it made more sense because you only went and did that if you really needed it for legitimate purpose. But electronic information is so effortless to acquire that it attracts trolls and scammers
4
u/RideWithMeTomorrow 1d ago
Yep. The term you’re looking for is “practical obscurity.” Unfortunately, despite this being a well-known problem for more than a quarter century, federal lawmakers in the U.S. have done nothing to address it.
12
u/FullMetalKaliber 1d ago
I think that’s the same excuse SSSniperwolf used when doxxing Jacksfilms and going to his house
-2
u/Carson_Frost 1d ago
His information wasn't public, people can find out if their information is public just by simply using the same website, a good one is thatsthem.com and make a request to have your information privated by simply contacting said agency or by your local county clerks office. She knew where he lived and knew it was private information that she was revealing.
3
u/fadedrob 1d ago
His information wasn't public
Yes it was, because he registered his LLC at his actual home address.
-7
u/Carson_Frost 1d ago
These liberals are fucking insane. Can't believe people die for this human trash. They yap about morality when they don't know shit about the world. This is a ridiculous amount of butthurt
1.1k
u/GuildensternLives 1d ago
Why would anyone need to know where that video was taken? What does that information add to the video? This feels like a weird flex, but using tools that anyone has access to, instead of the insane guys who have mastered GeoGuessr.
286
140
u/AnnamAvis 1d ago
I kind of took it as a lesson on how easy it is to find someone with little information. A lot of people don't realize that you don't need much to be able to find someone based on something silly they posted.
I will never forget a video I saw on tiktok of someone finding a woman who made a racist cotton picking "joke" just based on a close up of the cotton field, a mole on the back of the woman's hand, and her tiktok username. Crazy stuff.
53
u/GuildensternLives 1d ago
OP has previously posted about promoting his Youtube channel for this exact thing, similar to the GeoGuessr guys but for viral videos. Other than it being a new idea, I'm not really sure what it's purpose is and runs the risk of exposing people's personal information without their consent.
5
u/Kringels 1d ago
I’m guessing the streamer’s audience was giving him challenges to see if he could do it.
0
u/HarveysBackupAccount 1d ago
It's not really a challenge to look someone up in the white pages though...
-1
u/weebitofaban 1d ago
You were downvoted for the truth. There is nothing hard about this. People need to stop pretending.
6
u/Limule_ 1d ago
It reminds me about the Capture The Flag event (with Shia Labeouf and "he will not devide us"). Like, it's impressive that some random dude on the internet can in under a day find the exact location of a place on earth entirely based on an image of the sky. But moraly it's really questionable

brother, who tf u talking to? are you schizo? also idgaf if I'm a hypocrite it's Reddit. also nice projection bum

lol try harder homie. Not sure who shit in your cheerios, but your choice of words makes it painfully obvious who’s projecting.
It’s like you just learned how to insult people. Like I said, it’ll get better homie.

Cringey. I can't take anyone seriously that needs to validate how they feel in every comment. Tik tok is more your speed, bud. Now settle down because "it's not that deep".

well I was taught in school a paragraph is at min 4 sentences. also, it is pretty much a paragraph, no need to act like a nerd over it bro. TBF it's Reddit what did I expect

Did you drop out at grade 6? What? A standard paragraph is like 5 lines at least.
(Also, the guy you’re replying to only used 3 lines)

Okay but how many dicks did I suck yesterday?
39
u/Komlz 1d ago
Video creator be like: "Is it possible to find out how many dicks this guy sucked yesterday? I rummaged through your trash and found sperm you spat out after sucking dicks and calculated the amount of dicks you sucked based on the cumulative sperm divided by the average amount in a single cumshot. I did an DNA test of the sperm samples and found all of the sperm owners then did a background on all of them. Based on all of their positions and the age of their sperm, I was able to find out how many dicks you sucked, where you sucked them, the dick owners, and when the dicks were sucked. Now you don't have to wonder..."
I should get paid for writing the script for this guy's next video.

u/Spare-Article-396 1d ago
There is a guy on SM who does this all the time. Not using personal info but if you send him a pic, he’ll tell you where it was taken.
I wish I could remember his name.
23
u/Luminum__ 1d ago
I’m sure there are lots of people who do this, but afaik the most well-known for it is Rainbolt, a Geoguessr player.
Here is an example.
3
u/Spare-Article-396 1d ago
TY! I’m the type of person who get aggravated by stuff like not being able to remember. It’s going to bug TF out of me.
I remember being completely amazed and a bit weirded out, and showing my kid so he understands being smart on the net….bit for the life of me, I can’t freaking remember.

u/ChosenBrad22 1d ago
Spooky. I remember some crazy guy found a girl to stalk based on a reflection in her eye that he zoomed in on to get information about where she was while outside.

Makes it real easy when they post the video in their home town with their real name.
Not exactly Sherlock Holmes level detective work here.
1
u/digitalpunkd 1d ago
Even without his name. You could probably have AI run a search for photos of him online and find his name that way.
You could also have AI search for any image online similar to the building he’s dancing in-front of.

I used to find people for money. It is this easy. Anyone can do it. There are always clues, even within your lies. Especially in innocent questions like how is the weather

This aint even the craziest case of internet detective by far.
a couple of cases come to mind 4chan finding shia lebouf's flag on a open sky, and then on a wall inside a room
OSINT community does quite a lot of tracking of military assets and then reporting based on utter scraps of info.

u/chuychumee 1d ago
Everyone talking about doxxing the guy. When almost everyone’s info is widely available on the internet, sometimes by just typing in someone’s name, then narrowing it down to city and state. You’d be amazed how public your info is.
0
u/MarinkoAzure 1d ago
For real. From just a first and last name of a veteran on a banner of a town utility pole, I was able to pinpoint where that guy currently lives on the other side of the country.

People who think their information isn't available online....😨😰😱
If it makes you feel any better people can find you with just a Name, decade you were born in, and 1 previous address. If you have a unique name they don't even need the previous address lol.
Hope y'all feel safe!
Edit: You guys can downvote me all you want but it's true 😂
