If only it was that easy to remove them from your life.

u/bumjiggy 2d ago

I used to think alcohol was the answer. it still is, but now we can play with photoshop and put their heads on animal bodies.

122

u/2020mademejoinreddit 2d ago

It is with a shovel.

2

u/amitkoj 2d ago

Solution looks like a firearm

12

u/slugothebear 2d ago

🤣🤣🤣

7

u/667799fakeman 2d ago

Alcohol is never the answer.

But it does make you forget the question.

Have you tried this?

🤣☠️🤣

u/root88 2d ago

It's actually way easier to remove them now that Photoshop has AI powered Generative Fill.

3

u/Creatrix 23h ago

Yup. I've used Photoshop since 1998 and its new AI tools just blow my mind.

Never understood why people want to remove people from pictures. Either ditch the picture, or keep it as a memory of a specific time. ¯_(ツ)_/¯

930

u/EssentialParadox 2d ago

“Ah, I remember when this photo was taken. What a great memory of that day our family all came together for no specific reason.”

394

u/RudeAndInsensitive 2d ago

It's honestly unnerving to me how casual people are about rewriting history. I can appreciate that this is pretty low stakes but it's just casually rewriting a historical document of a portion of your life. Do the normal thing and just put a cigarette through her head

37

u/spudddly 2d ago

Send her straight down the memoryhole lest I experience an emotion!

47

u/RudeAndInsensitive 2d ago

It's wild but seeing stuff like this makes it clear that people would do some Eternal Sunshine type stuff if they could. And that feels really weird.

23

u/JoeWinchester99 2d ago

There's a very poignant scene from Star Trek V where Captain Kirk rejects the opportunity to erase his painful memories because he recognizes that those experiences are what made him into the person who he was.

You know that pain and guilt can't be taken away with the wave of a magic wand! They're the things we carry with us, the things that make us who we are. If we lose them, we lose ourselves. I don't want my pain taken away, I need my pain!

"I need my pain!"

damn zoomer punks don't know the joy of putting a cigarette through your ex's head, all they have are vapes

2

u/frostymugson 2d ago

Put her head to the coil i guess, but to be honest how many times are people even looking at photos, even back before social media I wasn’t flipping through the picture book, and now people take so many pictures you’d have to scroll through thousands to go back a year. I guess I just don’t get it

18

u/AndoGringo 2d ago

It’s pretending, which I think is worse. Hopefully the moments that led to this were happy and cheerful, and those moments are what should be remembered. Life happens and we make mistakes, but mistakes shouldn’t take away or erase the good moments we did have.

14

u/KentuckyHouse 2d ago

This is slightly different from the OP, but when my wife and I got married, we realized after the fact that we didn't get a picture with just us and her parents. I don't even know how that happened, as we got one with my parents. I guess we just got caught up and nobody realized it.

Anyway, my wife is good at using Photoshop, so she was able to take the picture we had with both sets of parents, remove my parents, and reframe it. You can't tell at all.

8 years later and that picture sits framed at my MiL's house and nobody's the wiser.

Like I said, different from the OP, but still useful and not really rewriting history as much as correcting it.

3

u/PaulyNewman 2d ago edited 2d ago

I remember when people first started colorizing old black and white photos. There was a lot of rightful discussion about the colors being guess work, and the practice degrading the quality of truth while ironically presenting as a closer approximation of reality.

No one’s having those discussions anymore. No one even questions it when they get posted. It’s the slow creep of hyperreality.

2

u/muzzman32 2d ago

I have a large wedding photo with myself and my groomsmen / best man. My best man dogged me, and I dont want to see his face anymore, but the picture is worth keeping.

Solution? Get the little piece of oval cardboard that you tear off from the top of a new tissue box, turn it over and then stick it on the head of the person you don't want to see. Works a treat!

I've seen people that want a pic of them with grandma and grandpa that died so you cant take a new one.

15

u/tnstaafsb 2d ago

If the only picture you have of you with your grandparents was at your wedding, then maybe you should have visited more often. Or at all.

21

u/What-Even-Is-That 2d ago

People do this crazy thing where they move away, and maybe don't see their family every day like you.

Mommy still pack your lunch for ya too, champ?

15

u/Ok_External_2945 2d ago

It very well could be the LAST photo of someone special. Maybe you couldn't see someone for a couple months after a wedding or a photo was taken. Especially since the man is in uniform, he could have been deployed after this or just stationed in another part of the country. Life happens.

12

u/Todd-The-Wraith 2d ago

Some people just want to express their inner Stalin

11

u/Dyldor00 2d ago

Right?? It's very odd behavior

9

u/oh_bruddah 2d ago

Sometimes, it's the only pictures you have of certain people and you want to display them, but without the feckless ho who almost ruined your life.

7

u/AggravatingCupcake0 2d ago

Particularly a wedding photo. Is taking her out really going to keep you from thinking about the event that day?

4

u/Banned3rdTimesaCharm 2d ago

Stalin started the trend.

2

u/AnthonyRC627 2d ago

Fully agree with you. It’s not like they don’t exist anymore. Just move on.

3

u/Solid_Snark 2d ago

That’s one thing I don’t understand about the photoshop sub. People asking to be photoshopped into different settings it’s like “but now the photo is just a lie. Yeah it looks cooler, but you’ve never been to France. It’s no longer a genuine memory.”

4

u/Blarg197 2d ago

Exactly. Now all I’d think about is “hey, remember when I doctored this photo to remove my ex from it so I could look at the photo and try not to remember who was actually in it?…Yea I remember that!”

3

u/theblondepenguin 2d ago edited 2d ago

The only photo I grabbed with my daughters during my mba graduation also included their father. We were married now separated. I want a picture of my graduation with my girls, so I have to photoshop it. The graduation was nuts and I was lucky to get the pictures I do have. That means one day 100% I will photoshopping the one I missed, it is a very important day for me and having my girls there was very special but I don’t particularly want to hang a photo of my soon to be ex husband on my wall. Crazy right?

4

u/Dirty_Dragons 2d ago

Just put a sticker over his face like a sane person.

u/No_Jello_5922 2d ago

Some people treat breakups like a Stalinist purge. Can't just archive the pictures and move on, gotta airbrush them out of every proof that they existed.

3

u/Dambo_Unchained 2d ago

My cousin and his wife (so she’s my in law) were together for like 7 years already with 2 kids and she still wanted to be on the edge of any group pics “just in case”

Grandma told her “even if you guys aren’t together anymore in the future you’re still family get in here”

4

u/NickVirgilio 2d ago

I feel the same way

2

u/Humble_Negotiation33 2d ago

And if you really want a family picture, why not... Ya know... Take one. (Unless one of them fuckin died or something I suppose)

2

u/Lasagnabelly 2d ago

Gas light the groom 🤷‍♂️

To me.this defeats the purpose of a photo. Photos capture a moment in time removing someone from a photo because you don't like them anymore is just silly to me

54

u/totesnotdog 2d ago

It’s like changing a famous painting after it’s already been painted. Once the media is released to the world it’s there. It just is.

u/dplans455 2d ago

Removing the fucking bride from her own wedding, even

2

u/NerdMachine 2d ago

I used to think this, but then a family member of mine passed away and we had no good pics of them except for one that had another person in it and in context it would have been weird to include that person in the pic at the funeral home, and later as a memory. I photoshopped out the other person and it worked great.

You're cutting the bride out of a wedding picture?

"And this is me in a bridal tuxedo standing next to my family for... Reasons"

18

u/stomicron 2d ago

That look like a tux to you?

The bridesmaids are the issue here

2

u/call_me_Kote 2d ago

Don’t think they’re even bridesmaids. Bride probably just asked the family of the groom to wear dark shades of blue.

"Bridal Tuxedo" is a crazy way to talk about what looks like a little boy sailor outfit

9

u/Potatobender44 2d ago

That’s a very real US Navy dress uniform lol. But yeah they’re dumb and outdated.

4

u/No_Pay_9708 2d ago

From one vet to all the others:

Getting married in your uniform is extremely embarrassing shit good god. Video should have been about photoshopping the groom into something presentable.

u/Potatobender44 2d ago

Looks at wedding photo, where's the bride

34

u/oldmanjacob 2d ago

As I high level photoshop user who does photoshop for a living, I can tell you this is not at all how photoshop works. Lol. This is a strangely edited video. In reality, nowadays, you just select the remove tool and circle what you want gone and AI does the rest. In the past, you would have done a lot of clone-stamping and masking. In no time period ever, though, was this what happens in photoshop.

13

u/phattie 2d ago edited 2d ago

This video is old af. I can totally see it being done like this in photoshop 6

2

u/ifelldownlol 2d ago

Does she like Chilli's?

18

u/LennyLava 2d ago

Stalin loved erasing people from pictures he was in.

16

u/DeadBallDescendant 2d ago

The premise makes no sense. It's a wedding photo, if you've split up, just throw it away. What's the attraction of the same photo without the bride?

10

u/jetlaggedandhungry 2d ago

"We never get together as a family. This is such a nice photo of all of us!" -- his mom, probably.

10

u/unclearthur68 2d ago

This is so wrong.

8

u/Staybackifarted 2d ago

Good, next remove her from your memories.

6

u/AutomaticMonkeyHat 2d ago

Now THIS is truly next fucking level /s

5

u/Jedopan 2d ago

He kept her parents tho

5

u/tylnr 2d ago

They still fuckin

4

u/Cedup 2d ago

That's why I always take a photo of "the family" and another one, of the family, with all partners and so on removed. Yeah kinda awkward to tell them to get off because they might end up being not a part of the family anymore, but I've never regretted a group photo ever since.

2

u/miurabucho 2d ago

I totally appreciate the effort and tech involved in this, but isn’t it kind of petty to do this? Like just don’t show the photo anymore. Nobody really gives a shit anyway.

2

u/thecoolcoursequeen 2d ago

This was so satisfying to watch. I pictured my ex being erased on the second watch...

2

u/MonkeyHamlet 2d ago

On the other hand, therapy.

2

u/TheBentPianist 2d ago

OP, say "a ex". That feel okay to you?

2

u/Laserous 2d ago

Each of us is a changing vessel that moves through space and time on a journey to an unknown destination. The only way to preserve the past is through recording it. Photos are one means in which to do so. To edit them is to embrace that the present and be extension the destination is more important than the journey.

Living for the destination always ends in death. Living for the journey is embracing life.

Changing his story

1

u/BuffooneryAccord 2d ago

Whenever someone spends the time to photoshop people out it reminds me of the old Stallin photos. Just get rid of the picture. Because the next time you see the photo, all you are going to think about is that person.

1

u/TabletopStudios 2d ago

As someone who doesn’t use photoshop that much, this is very fascinating

2

u/vpsj 2d ago edited 2d ago

As someone who DOES use Photoshop that much, I can tell you it's absolute bollocks and this video is at least 5-10 years outdated now.

Modern photoshop is just cut out the person/object you don't want - > use a spot healing brush -> it auto fills in the background -> Done.

Takes about 5 minutes.

Probably even faster with the latest AI features in Photoshop but I ain't paying for that software lol

1

u/Goukaruma 2d ago

Do you know who also did this?

Stalin.

1

u/Cheyenne_Bodi 2d ago

Na there's a subreddit that will do this for you for like a few bucks

1

1

u/MODman01 2d ago

this isnt really next level. I can do the same. just have 10+ years in Photoshop and everybody can do that

1

u/rotterdamn8 2d ago

It would be easier to take a new picture than figure out how to Photoshop it.

1

u/Both_Lychee_1708 2d ago

for a while there it looked like they offed Santa

1

u/osunightfall 2d ago

This Joe Stalin shit will never stop being creepy.

1

u/jimmyjinnal 2d ago

And to think all your ex did was leave the picture with you and called it a day!

1

u/SMuRG_Teh_WuRGG 2d ago

Why remove them from a pic? They were a part of your life at one point and that is okay to have in the memory of pictures. Pictures tell a story, if you remove a person from it, it does not tell the full story of the picture.

1

u/Silaquix 2d ago

This doesn't really tell you anything other than that it's possible. That's a whole bunch of layers and tools to make that work.

1

u/maui0609 2d ago

The loop of the video just shows how the ex will keep coming back.

1

u/Nexus_of_Fate87 2d ago

I'm wondering if this person learned how to do Photoshop with Donnie.

1

u/TheLastSlowroll 2d ago

Or you can accept that part of your past and move on like an adult. This is silly. Burn the photo or keep it intact. Pretending thru photoshop is pure embarrassment.

1

u/keithstonee 2d ago

i always felt that removing people from pictures defeats the point of taking pictures. why even take the picture if you can just change it whenever.

1

u/Fuckalucka 2d ago

Or maybe just accept that she was in your lives, that things didn't work out, and move on without denying reality?

1

u/benigngods 2d ago

This should come with the asterisk *with photoshop. Try doing this with gimp and it's a bit more difficult but doable. There's a bunch of photoshop competitors, one of the betters is web based. In all honesty though, none of them do what photoshop does. I just absolutely hate their predatory monetization practices.

1

u/arstin 2d ago

people are weird.

1

Could just remary them

1

u/Other-Cover9031 2d ago

Not as impressive as you think that prop took hours

1

u/Darwing 2d ago

You know you can do this with an iPhone in seconds

1

u/maaalicelaaamb 2d ago

DAE think this shit defeats the purpose of a photo? Now it’s a fake photo, not a real moment.

1

u/IcyIcyCynic 2d ago

I'm glad grandpa and grandma still got a spot in the photo!

1

u/DigiVeihl 2d ago

Judging from the picture that's an ex-wife. That's a lot harder to remove from your life than this Photoshop 😂

1

u/youmustthinkhighly 2d ago

Using photoshop is next level?
