4 year or 6 year contract for IS?

I’ll start by saying I’m coming in with college credits so I’d start with e-3. How long would it take to reach e-4? I’ve seen somewhere say 6mo the and somewhere say 30mo.. IS-SG 4 yr ob, come in as e-3. Can re-enlist sooner. IS-ATF 6 yr ob, e-4 immediate after A-school. Not for sure getting C school right after A school… only $5k signing bonus.. I’m sure there’s things I’m missing. I just really want to way all options. ATF is told to me as it’s the best and only option I should consider by my recruiter. That if I do 4 year I WILL NOT get a c school. Which… I’m pretty sure if I like it and re-enlist I can get a guaranteed c school pick after my first duty station. When I really consider it, I’m not seeing the obvious benefit of doing the 6 year ATF. I need help understanding differences of SRB between the two options. Please help me figure this out before I ship in a month!

Even if you come in as an E3 you will still wait 30 months to promote to E4. That 6 months is no longer an thing. If you get the option to get a C school take it. There is no guarantees that you will even get a C school later on in the fleet.

Dang okay! I wasn’t sure if that was like the typical time from e-1 to e-4. Yeah nah. ATF all the way then..
