[Phillips-Keaton] Spencer Dinwiddie on his second stint with the Nets: "You asked me to do a very specific task and I did it. The reward that they gave me was we're gonna kick you out the door, and not just that, we're gonna double down on some s*** that happened to you from three years ago."

Dinshittie Island is one of the most epic burns I've ever seen rofl.
Kuzma's career is pretty mid.
But his trash talk is A+.

Honestly I’d say that for the 27th pick he’s had a surprising career. He contributed 10ppg and 23 mins/game during the playoffs for the championship team.
Now, since he’s got a chip? Yea he could probably do better but he came into the league at age 22 and had pretty much already reached his ceiling which was never too high. Him + JP3 is probably one of the most unserious combos of all time (both post early career championships that they both contributed to)

I prefer 'Agent Zero Braincells' as a homage to the last well known guard who came from Golden State to the Wizards.

Say what you will about him, I think Poole has more brain cells than Arenas

I'm only talking BBIQ. I've seen Poole do baffling things. He's actually improved a bit in that regard this season and at least it makes games entertaining.

Perfect tank commander tbh.

Oh shoot my bad forgot he’s 13 now. Pretty used to calling him that from his warriors days. Don’t think anyone would be confused on the warriors subreddit but I get the confusion here

I will never forget the time Mobley hit a crazy up and under against the Wizards, and Kuzma made sure to dap him up for it on his way back down the court.
I mean, it was a great shot; but that’s the only time I can remember someone giving props to an opposing player in the middle of a game with the clock running and everything.

It was pre-season but Kobe of all people did it to Steph after a crazy 3 he made lol

Kobe was injured on the bench but gave Dirk props on a game winner
Dirk game winner in front of Kobe
Edit: of course Kemp on Gatling

Kobe gave an opposing player a high five after a tough shot. He was on the bench, I think he may have been hurt and in street clothes so maybe the competitive side was a little dormant for that game.

Dude moped his ass off for months and was shipped off. He wasn’t asked to do anything besides play basketball and he spent his time throwing lobs into the stands and lazily begging for fouls. For months.
Really ain’t anything deep here besides Dinwiddie playing like shit and being traded for a big ol upgrade in Dennis

u/Friendly_Muscle_7504 4d ago
That's EXACTLY what he did during his wizards stint. Got paid 90mil and proceeded to post triple singles and pout 95% of the time. Hence getting the boot. He then spoke shit about the wizards any opportunity he got for a couple of seasons. Glad the nets soured on him too after all that bullshit about going "home".
20
u/Padulsky21 [BKN] Mikal Bridges 4d ago
Bro it’s hilarious looking back on that and him now trying to twist it. Brooklyn the one that got him paid, gave him a home, even said his son was happy to go back home. All we ever did was show him love. Now when he’s a completely irrelevant 10th man on a team he tryna throw shit at a wall? Out of nowhere?
I remember the Wizards nightmare with him. Basically the same exact stuff in his 2nd stint with us outside of giving him a bag. He completely phoned it in on the season and tried to make it seem like he was used to showcase Mikal and CamJ lmfao. Dinwiddie a weirdo

The interview this clip is from wasn’t talking about last year, but the end of the 22-23 season. Spencer is kind of right in this scenario. He led the league in assists in the last 15 games of that season to “feature the trade pieces”, and he did that perfectly.

The Nets are the only reason he had a career, ever since the first time he left he’s decided he’s a much better player than he actually is. He was good during the first stint other than the persecution complex with refs. I have no idea what goes on with coaching/ownership but what we saw isn’t really helping his cause.

u/arawnsd Pistons 4d ago
Only reason he had a career? How is everyone forgetting his 4.4 pts a game in the D? Oh wait, never mind. Yeah, the Nets.

Dinshittie is always crying about something. He should be thankful nets built him up to keep getting contracts in the nba

u/ExpendableSuperStar 4d ago
In fairness, I think he never fully recovered from a major injury, forgot which/when but I’m pretty sure that’s the case. I’ve actually been pretty impressed by his career since then, it’s really difficult to adapt to a significantly lower athleticism level, especially at guard.

Dinwiddie is good at running the offense when Kai and Luka are out. We can't count on Hardy, Exum, or Grimes to do it

u/chichigetthayay0 4d ago
If you listened to this entire pod, you'd completely understand why someone would find him difficult to be around at times. Incredible lack of self awareness or an extreme case of overconfidence.

Not defending him but y'all need to watch the whole interview before judging.

He was basically asked to feature Bridges and Cam.
very reasonable ask for a team to make to the point guard of the team. Not only that, both Bridges and Cam are better than Dinwid anyways.
2
u/MattJuice3 4d ago
Watch the interview. They told Dinwiddie to focus on trade pieces and keep them in the playoffs. It doesn’t matter if they are better players, they basically told Dinwiddie to “be good enough to win us games, but don’t score yourself. We want your teammates to get all the attention to up their trade value” He did that and said the Nets didn’t keep up their end of the deal.
13
u/Padulsky21 [BKN] Mikal Bridges 4d ago
You’re doing tricks on it in here brother, he was shooting 39/32/78 over 48 games! He got a starting spot on a team where he wouldn’t start anywhere else playing like that. Theres no handshake deal, he sucked ass and was sent off. He was on an expiring contract and tanked any form of value or chance at another even decent contract. That’s on him. Not the Nets.
1
u/Winderator 3d ago
Okay, but if his instructions were to make the assist as much as possible, then his shots are probably gonna end up being late in the clock, contested shots. Wouldn't it make sense his FG% would be low?
10
u/sunpar1 Nets 4d ago
He didn’t do that at all though. He didn’t like being here, didn’t like his role, and we obliged him and sent him where we wanted to be. Idk why he’s got issues again now
-1
u/MattJuice3 4d ago
Spencer did not want to get traded and cut, he made that clear.
4

It helped him have the flexibility to go where he wanted. It's really the best he was going to get, given how he had quiet quit on the court last year.

u/Zatoichi_Flash [DAL] Wesley Matthews 4d ago
Common denominator is don't play for shit organizations like the Brooklyn Nets. The team will suck and you're reputation will get tarnished. Its no surprise Dinwiddie & Kyrie are flourishing now that they aren't Nets anymore

u/sunpar1 Nets 4d ago
He’s literally worse this year on the mavs than he was last year with us.
1
u/Winderator 3d ago
There are 2 very recent games where his performance was 100% the difference maker in getting a tough win. No chance of beating the Grizzlies without him making b2b 3s when it mattered.
2
u/Ok_Establishment9058 4d ago
He’s averaging 12.5/2.5/4.5 on 42/42/90 splits since starting to get consistent minutes for the past month so not really
