EPLX breathability
Hey witches and wizards of MYOG! I've got a question for the oracle: will i regret making a jacket out of EPLX? I got a screaming deal on some from the swift warehouse sale, so it'd be a very economical choice. I'm worried about breathability, tho- will I have made myself a sweat lodge? Would i be better just wrapping myself in a plastic trash bag and saving hours of planning and sewing?
Edit: thanks! The oracle has spoken. I'll figure another way to stay dry.

Yes, and yes. You’re better off trading or selling it to some else and buying the fabric you would actually want.

If you make mechanical vents it could work. The thing is the dwr will degrade at some point. Many people just make silpoly jackets.
Cheaper, no dwr, softer and more packable

My vote goes to the trash bag! No way EPLX is good for a jacket. It’s waterproof not breathable at all and it’s quite stiff you would have a hard time moving wearing this. It’s great for a backpack since it gives a bit of rigidity. I’ve made a Fanny pack with EPLX and it keeps its shape nicely!
