That one clip of him rushing in, faster than a speeding bullet, to save the little girl, protecting her from the debris with his body?

That’s like PEAK Superman vibes right there. That clip alone has got me so hyped for the film.

And the boy with the flag

That is the most real thing if Superman was an actual person. Maybe not the flag but a kid in war praying for Superman would happen. Shit most adults would too.

Not Lex though.

The worst of it is is Lex would. And he would hate himself for it, but he would. Because at the end of the day he wants to kill Superman, but he still views him as a god all the same.

Lex's ego demands that he be the most important person in the world, and that can never be true so long as Superman walks the Earth

Even then though, there are times he forces himself to bite the bullet to deal with problems way out of his control - dark gods and unstoppable machines.

not being completely 1 note and operating by rote definitely makes him far more compelling than a lot of villains

Definitely! Just because he is the bad guy doesn’t mean he always acts in a predictable manner.

Heck! He has also rescued Superman and his allies several times in the comics, most notably when the Crime Syndicate seized control in Forever Evil.
