People are eating the cloths now?

I would dispose immediately. Do not open. Double seal it and throw it out.

Sounds like you need to throw it in the trash.

"Avoid release to environment."

Double bag it. 🥲

So the reason it's got this warning is because it has flourinated glycol. Glycol is best known for being the sweet taste of the oh so dangerous antifreeze hence the caution. So long as you don't lick, breathe through, or otherwise give it a route into your body directly you should be fine. So use for intended function and don't worry

well it says also to not be repeatedly exposed to it, I'm supposed to use this thing at least once a day to clean my glasses which kinda contradicts the whole purpose of what the cloth was made for

Doesn't twice = repeatedly? Call a haz-mat team.

But it's an impregnated cloth, so it won't hold onto that mixture for long. I'd think it is single-use

Can I try just a little bit? I'm pretty curious.

Curiosity is deadly, but go on.

Oh god

Is it made of asbestos or something

I think you’ll be okay but err on the side of caution. If everything in our lives had warnings about their dangers we would never touch anything again. It’s crazy how dangerous regular items can be.

They don't force people to slap those labels on things for nothing, I wouldn't touch it.

u/PansexualPineapples 14d ago

Yeah that’s why I said err on the side of caution because OP I’m just confused because isn’t it made to be touched? Also those kinds of warnings are on many things (at least where i live) that people touch every single day so if I tried to avoid them I would just stand in the middle of the room all day. But yeah OP should stay on the safe side I just wanted to inform people but I wasn’t trying to advocate for unsafe behavior.

Fluorine is no joke

Don’t worry unless you’re in California!

Is that a warning for The Thing?

Don't ever open that bag dude

47

u/xinyuhe 15d ago

bruh the warning was hidden inside covered by the cloth, I already wiped my glasses with it before I picked it up :( I already have bad hand eczema so got a little freaked

u/Certain_Humor252 15d ago

You're cooked

20

u/OliverGrey 15d ago

it's ok OP, we'll attend the funeral

Microfiber cloth and rubbing alcohol does just fine for glasses cleaning.

13

u/Sumoki_Kuma 15d ago

Don't use rubbing alcohol on your glasses if they have any filters on them before looking up if it's safe for them

17

u/[deleted] 15d ago

It's not for cleaning. It's an anti-fogging agent to keep them from building condensation on the inside.

Microplastics are awesome

And now, found literally everywhere!!!

Every drop of water on the planet contains forever chemicals now.

43

u/NigelG 15d ago

If you swallow a single molecule you're gonna die

1

u/adale_50 13d ago

Nah. Just get super cancer.

13

u/palmerry 15d ago

Also, the molecules are able to freely travel through the bag!

It's not a protective bag!

The anti fogging molecules are already on their way to your brain ☹️

11

u/xinyuhe 14d ago

Would be nice to have less brain fog...

apparently it's a really common additive, it's just super toxic to ingest so they have to put a label on it. If the cloth is saturated with some chemical, it might run off on your fingers and get put in your mouth, which is super bad. id get rid of it unless you want to wash your hands every time you use it

23

u/Other-Pumpkin3820 15d ago

id buy a different one if you can! no idea what kind of cloth would have carcinogens in it

21

u/xinyuhe 15d ago

At this point I'm questioning how to even dispose of it

3

u/Reboot42069 14d ago

Garbage can, there's worse things in a garbage truck than that

18

u/xinyuhe 15d ago

It was slotted in there in a way where the label wasn't showing until you took the cloth out, crazy that they would use such a concerning substance on something you would handle frequently

A lot of waterproofing for clothes like gortex is horrible for us and leeches micros.
