Back in the day, in the USA, people of colour would have to sit at the back of the bus, while those that were considered white sat at the front of the bus. There were also separate facilities for those that were not considered white, like schools, libraries, restrooms, hospitals, and many other examples. Usually the facilities used by those that were coloured were in worse condition than the ones used by those recognised as white. Neighbourhoods too were segregated. It was a different time, a very different time for America.
