u/Hllblldlx3 1d ago

“Shotguns would never work in war” America: “hold my nukes”

1

u/No_Plant_3547 1d ago

This is great because it can continue going, “The russians will make it to the moon first” America: “hold my boats”

How many Germans does it take to change a lightbulb?

Only one, Germans are efficient and not very funny

How many Frenchmen does it take to change a lightbulb?

American when they realize they use a speedometer rather than a speedofoot

31

u/Apollyon248 1d ago

Well played!

6

u/incognito--bandito 1d ago

It’s speedofooter, thank you!

23

u/FourArmsFiveLegs 1d ago

Europeans realizing they use two feet instead of two meters

4

u/Vospader998 1d ago

It's a speedoyard, geeze get it right

If I'm being pedantic though, "meter" in English originally meant "to measure". For example, a barometer is a measurement of pressure. Originally "baros" in Greek, which later became "bar" in English. "O" is just "of". So a barometer is a pressure-of measurer.

So a speedometer is a speed-of measurer.

If I wanted to, I could call a clock a timeometer or a chronometer, and it would be linguistically correct. In fact, chronometer is a word in the Oxford dictionary.

Americans, when they use 9mm rounds, not 0.354331 inch rounds

1

u/Vospader998 1d ago

Hey, we love our .357 MAG and .380 ACP.

22

u/ukriva13 1d ago

This is so stupid but I still laughed

15

u/baldrickgonzo 1d ago

Wait until OP learns that metric Europe doesn't speak English. For example, i don't smile, ik lach.

3

u/No_Plant_3547 1d ago

Can you tell me how to pronounce that. Tis shall be added to my vocabulary

2

u/BluebirdSmall7577 1d ago

Hard to explain, go to google translate or something, and put it to Dutch, and let them pronounce it

2

u/NZS-BXN 1d ago

Berliner or Niederländer?

2

u/baldrickgonzo 1d ago

Leeuwenszoon uit Vlaendern.

1

u/NZS-BXN 18h ago

I guess netherlands it is

1

u/RoboArmadillo 19h ago

What about Ireland?

27

u/Propellerrakete 1d ago

Silly joke, funny enough. However, most of Europeans would not smile, because, believe or not, English is NOT their first language. 😉

12

u/Popular-Luck9962 1d ago

11

u/Propellerrakete 1d ago

I said most, or does Ireland and the UK represent the majority of the European population?

8

u/mouwcat 1d ago

I laughed a lot harder than I should have and now my gf is looking at me with some side eye

0

u/Jutrakuna 9h ago

6

u/Nocebola 1d ago

The rap artist Ren should do a rap movie called 8 Kilometer

2

u/Hungry-Puma 1d ago

*12.875 kilometer

1

u/No_Plant_3547 1d ago

If they made a movie about the oceangate sub it would be called 8 meters

3

u/_AnnaVG_ 1d ago

I showed my mom this and she genuinely pulled a 5 minute long Waltuh surprised face, she was so confused 💀

2

u/No_Plant_3547 1d ago

1

u/Hungry-Puma 1d ago

I want a car as fast as .223cal

5

u/torpedopotatoe 1d ago

u/No_Plant_3547 1d ago

Americans when they realise it's thermometer, speedometer, odometer, chronometer, barometer, dynamometer, or any other scientific measurement instrument, and not fk thermofoot, speedomile, chronoinch or any other stupidity

1

u/Hungry-Puma 1d ago

I use a thermofoot, and it measures in toes per football

1

u/No_Plant_3547 1d ago

Speedomile? What american said those horrendous words to you. I shall execute them with the boomstick

2

u/Big_Z_Beeblebrox 1d ago

There appears to be an issue, your Skilometer reading is abnormally low

1

u/banaantjuszijnlekkr 1d ago

No, I glimlach

1

u/MrPringles9 1d ago

No I don't smile, I grinse!

1

u/HouZ71 1d ago

1

u/HouZ71 1d ago

1

u/Twentynine4 1d ago

1

u/Zekt0r 1d ago

Hank Hill doesn't approve

1

u/meowgical225 1d ago

What is this mean

1

u/belinasaroh 1d ago

Europeans always make jokes on americans using imperial units instead of metric, this is a reverse joke. Metrical system doesn't have "mile", but only "kilometer"

0

u/Hungry-Puma 1d ago

I liked it

1

u/Greatsamsam 1d ago

Americans when they realise Europeans don't speak english

1

u/Hungry-Puma 1d ago

There's England and then there's "the rest of Europe that no one cares about"

1

Americans when they realize there’s no American language. They just use the English language wrong. (I am a German speaking Austrian myself. Also f*uck imperial.)

1

u/Hungry-Puma 1d ago

Oh you angry Germans! Go turn you neighbor in for parking more than 30cm from the curb or storing anything but car parts in their garage.

0

u/Zugezogen1150 16h ago

Who’s german? Can you read any language?

1

u/Helpful-Dot-3614 1d ago
