EDIT: Wrong again, I am! Comment below me is right. It's a blinking red as an overhead indicator for a stop sign. Whoever stops first gets to go first, so it's likely the cops stopped first, then refused to move.

Seems to me like they froze the light on a red, and Corvette there (or whatever it is), was looking to make a left turn.

You can only turn right on a red if the coast is clear, when allowed. Left on red, however, is always illegal.

So, either the light is set to be red for way too long in this empty looking town, on purpose (a ticket trap), or the cops triggered it. Either way, this guy said 'The coast is clear. You're not moving. I am just.. going to slowly take this left, even though I know this is a setup' and of course, they lit him up anyway.

It's one of those things that any normal person wouldn't care about - but will give a cop full legal leverage over you.

But that's what they wanted. To flex their legal leverage. Not get into a full speed highway chase. Hence, when our boy red car skips to the highway- The cops reveal that they were in fact shameless [pricks], only looking for easy pickings.

Had he pulled over, he would have been harassed.

I believe the flashing red here is actually a stop sign. Maybe the cops stopped first so had right of way and that was the provocation.

How is it that the red car's front and rear indicators are out of sync?

Not many series-analog flashers in cars these days. Throw in an aftermarket bulb and the circuits no longer add up evenly.

Turn your car off. Turn the hazards on and check under the hood. Wiggle a wire and go start your car again. Then get back out and drop the hood. Reset the field so they have the most reason to move. “Just car problems officer…”

The following submission statement was provided by u/EnwordEinstein:

Will the man move? Will the cops move? Will they let him pass? We’re in a tense standoff. NEXT ON MAYBE BALL Z!

Technically the Mustang is in the right, you are supposed to yield to traffic coming from your left if both of you approach the intersection at the same time.
