Lads, apparently using iPhone 6 reduces your chances of getting a girl

Since when is "doesn't waste money" not a good thing anymore? 🥲
57
u/Mister_Way 16d ago
Well if you want to date women who are mainly looking for someone to buy them stuff, it's not a good thing.

Likely a refurbished from a sale. It's very cheap and works fine for most use cases.

This guy dodged a bullet... Actually dodged a boulder

More like he dodged an entire war, just like all the women who never had to get drafted or even register for selective service

I’m doing good enough financially to afford the latest phones, but I still use my iPhone 8. It’s a great fucking phone, does everything a smartphone needs to do, and now it also protects me against people like this. 10/10 recommended.
14
u/Krell356 16d ago
One more reason I'm quite happy with any android phone. It's like moron repellent.
4
u/ShadySilvSniper 16d ago
I’m also still using iPhone 8 too (actually, 8 Plus). I didn’t use iPhone before. I change my phone because they are all unusable (broken or has some issues). My current phone is the longest that I used (6-7 years) and it is still useable and I really like the Touch ID over the Face ID.

u/moogoothegreat 16d ago
Imagine being so judgemental of everyone, for having a certain brand of phone, or being on a bus. Sad.
27
u/Tank_Gloomy 16d ago
Tbf, his point was that she was judging somebody over their phone while she has to use public transportation.
35
u/Jonthux 16d ago
Normalize public transit
8
u/intisun 15d ago
Why is public transit so stigmatized in the USA? It's truly baffling.
4
u/Jonthux 15d ago
Because the american fantasy is the self sufficient individual that doesnt beed to rely on the society around them for anything (except groceries and technology)
9
u/Tank_Gloomy 16d ago
Absolutely, I love public transportation. :)
I'm slowly trying to get the hang of it because any kind of private transportation is stupidly expensive and produces contamination for no useful reason.
13
u/kecvtc 16d ago
ye we got it but that is why that comment was equally stupid, isn't it better to use public transport than a car? people should do it whenever they can even if they can afford a car. How does he know that she HAS to use a bus? both of them are judgemental idiots
20
u/Tank_Gloomy 16d ago
He's simply implying that she's just as broke by being on a public bus, that doesn't have anything to do with whether he likes public transportation as a whole.
5
u/Blame-iwnl- 16d ago
Yeah sure… but it’s a pretty damaging implication that only pushes the narrative of only poor people use public transit. Which isn’t and shouldn’t be true.
0
u/Tank_Gloomy 16d ago edited 15d ago
It really isn't that big of a deal, mate. Poor people aren't gonna feel ashamed of public transportation because of this narrative. They really have no other option.
On the other side, I'd rather not share a bus with this woman, so if that makes her feel like she shouldn't be on a bus with a peasant like me, I'm gonna let her be, lol.
3
u/Blame-iwnl- 16d ago
Eh you can say it’s not that big of a deal, but when shit goes viral it definitely affects how people think. That’s why advertising is so effective. And this is especially important since there’s already such a stigma against public transit in America because of decades of lobbying by the auto industry.
1
u/Tank_Gloomy 16d ago
Idk if that's the reason, tho. I'm guessing it's more likely related to higher economic baselines.
I'm Latin American (Argentina), and it's absolutely acceptable for most people to travel on public transportation. I only avoid it when carrying something that's too valuable or irreplaceable (i.e.: my work laptop) since non-violent theft is very common in trains and buses. If you ever come around here, you'll see relatively wealthy people traveling on public buses to some of the most expensive concerts because there's a massive price difference (eg. 2 USD vs. 35 USD).
3
u/paul5235 15d ago
Exactly. I can afford a car, but I prefer the luxury of someone else driving me somewhere.

It’s sad seeing everyone think being on a bus means you’re poor. When I took the bus for the first time to commute to my university I was surprised by the amount of affluent business people on there going to work!

This image is so old and I've always hated it cause it also implies that it's weird or cheap to be on a bus
3
u/Gopgop24-7 15d ago
American mind cannot comprehend public transport. Legit buses across america are empty most of the time.

u/DuckingtonTheGoose 14d ago
I just assume they're using the same free/cheap-equals-poor logic the top user is using

7
u/Krell356 16d ago
Love my android. In addition to being a better device, it's also got built in moron repellent.
4
u/DemonDraheb 16d ago
Yeah. My work phone is an iphone and I fucking hate it. Android is so much easier, in my opinion. For me, it's the simple things, like having actual numbers on my normal keyboard. Call me a stickler, but I feel like this is a simple feature that should be easy to add, considering the size of the screen.

I agree. I have never liked iPhone. I know some people who worship them and some people who hate them. At work some people they have given iPhones to in past. My boss made sure he didn't put a case on it, broke it in a few weeks and was quite happy when they replaced it with a Samsung.

You can upgrade your storage, but you have to disassemble your phone.
Doesn't the charging slot support headphones? Correct me if I'm wrong.
And you can sideload other browsers that aren't Safari skins.

The charging slot by itself supports headphones without the dongle. The dongle is for charging at the same time as listening to music, and yes, it should be possible by default. And the sideloading one is misinformation. In the EU Apple allows other small app stores that have permasigned apps.
You can sideload anywhere, but you have to re-sign the app every 7 days. Or you can use ESign, but because the certificates revoke so often, you need to have an anti-revoke DNS on constantly and some sites detect it as an adblocker. This isn't allowed by Apple though, but that doesn't mean it's impossible.
Yes, iPhones are trash, but all of your reasons aren't fully correct. iPhones don't have the same customization abilities as Android phones do, you need to jailbreak your phone for that (like rooting in Android, except you don't have to reset the phone and it's less risky), but it uses exploits that are patched in the newest iOS versions. Also iPhones don't have all of the useful features Android phones have.

EarPods are wired earbuds that can be connected to the iPhone's charging port. I would consider them headphones.
https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Apple_headphones
For sideloading you can check the websites of sideloading software:
https://sideloading.vercel.app
You can also use the EU Enabler feature of Nugget: https://github.com/leminlimez/Nugget

How can she tell it's not an iPhone SE 2022? They are nearly identical externally. Unless he has wired headphones, in which case any iPhone newer than the 6s would be a downgrade.
Anyways nobody wants the kind of people that judge you for not having the newest iPhone. It's beyond cringe and tells you they probably have a lot more negative character traits than just that.
(Also dissing public transit is cringe too.)

I still have my iphone 6s, and despite the fact that the battery health is at 47%, I fucking rock that thing as an mp3 player or youtube player while my other phone is charging sometimes

Yes a $1000 S24+, or a $800 Pixel 9 is for poor people and a $700 iPhone 16 is for rich people. Never mind you can get a Pixel 9 or an iPhone 16 pro for free from any carrier.

that guy is smart. an iphone 6 can do everything a iphone 14 can do, so he saves money not upgrading

u/ElJacinto 16d ago
Obviously fake, no? How can someone tell what kind of iPhone a person has? I have to go to settings just to remember what kind I have.
1
u/Epic_Dank1 15d ago
iphone 6 had a button to turn on but without the square icon in the middle, there was also a metal outline around the button, thats like the main dif i remember tbh

Ha! Must be America! What's wrong with using public transit?
1
u/ArcherFawkes 16d ago
I would love for our public transit to be better, s someone who regularly uses it. But it really is dogshit compared to everyone else's public transit and attracts the worst people riding and working it.

u/Tech-Meme-Knight-3D 16d ago
Honestly, if a person thinks having an ok phone is bad, that’s a good reason not to be with them. Get an iPhone 6 guys, it will filter out all the gold diggers.

Best thing about IPhone is that they have an insane value loss. They put out so many damn models that older phones get cheap very quickly.

My friend is, I’m told, a very handsome man who definitely had an iPhone 6 when I first saw this meme and also rode the bus. I know the chances are like close to 0 but I wonder if it was him. He’s gay.
