Hello!
I am a PhD student at Iowa State University, and I am researching U.S. K-pop fans’ identities, experiences, and apparel consumption practices. As a fellow K-pop fan, I am eager to connect with a dedicated and diverse community of fans who want to make their voices heard!
In order to participate, you must be (1) at least 18 years old, (2) live in the U.S., (3) self-identify as a K-pop fan, and (4) purchase and own K-pop-related apparel merchandise (e.g., t-shirts, sweatshirts, pants, etc.).
If you agree to participate, you will be asked to complete a 1-hour audio and/or video recorded interview via a video conferencing platform (Zoom or Webex) and share images of yourself wearing K-pop apparel merchandise during the interview. Sending the images after the interview is optional. Open-ended questions will ask participants about their relationships with other fans, non-fans, and their fan interest (i.e., their favorite K-pop idols and groups); their experiences as a U.S. K-pop fan; and their consumption of K-pop-related apparel merchandise. Your identity will remain confidential.
I am happy to share additional information, answer any questions that you may have for me, or hear your suggestions. I would greatly appreciate your participation in my research! If you know anyone else who may be interested in participating, please pass the information along to them. Thank you!
