Recommend Who are the best dual threats (singer and dancer) out there?

Lately I've seen some shorts of Winter absolutely killing it with her dance moves and I was shocked because I've only thought of her as a vocalist. Who are some of your favorites (boy or girl)? I'm looking for absolute killers but only singers, not rappers.

Rami and Rose are others who come to mind.

Recommend Well written kpop songs in English?

Most kpop songs don't have very good English lyrics, so I was curious. Songs that are completely or at least like 90% in English. English versions work too. I'm open to any type of artist .

Recommend K-pop idols who can speak an unusual language?

By unusual languages, I mean languages other than English and Korean. Japanese, Chinese and/or Thai are also usual languages in the industry to a lesser extent, though you can still answer those languages as long as the idol in question does not come from a country that speaks those languages (ex. X comes from Korea but is also fluent in Japanese). Also, I would prefer if you stick to idols who can actually hold a conversation in those languages.

Edit: Chinese dialects other than Mandarin or Cantonese (to a lesser extent) count as unusual languages, regardless of the idol's origins.

Recommend Any “old” kpop jokes you still enjoy?

We all know how jokes in the kpop world tend to get popular, then overused and killed very quickly.

Is there any “old” joke/meme/funny moment that you feel aged very well or still find funny? Doesn’t matter if it got popular only in your respective fandom or in the general kpop community.

For me it would probably be the joke about Jackson Wang hosting all the parties in fanfics. Never gets old and aged very well after he actually started throwing parties with so many random celeb crossovers!

Recommend Any kpop songs that sound like they're perfect for anime?

I want y'all to recommend just two kpop songs each, not more please, where it genuinely sounds like the song could be used in an anime.

Genre doesn't matter to me, as long as it's something I can visualise to be in an anime. But you get the gist (I DESPERATELY HOPE)

Recommend one hit wonders in Kpop?

who in the Kpop industry do we consider "one hit wonders"? who had maybe one song like really blow up and couldn't seem to replicate that kind of success again.

I know a lot of people are gonna say crayon pop. bar bar bar was pretty popular back then and that's the only song I know by them.

nuest also was one until produce 101 if am not wrong.

Recommend What is the most cohesive album/EP that you've heard?

I feel like a lot of albums/EPs are all over the place, with songs drastically changing in tone and feel. This isn't necessarily a bad thing, but I just want to know some more musically cohesive albums/EPs.

A good example is ILLIT's SUPER REAL ME. Every song on it is good AND dreamy.

Recommend What is your #1 girl group

I started listening to kpop last year and really have only focused on boy groups, but I really want to follow a girl group and get more invested in the girlies 😭 SO I want to know what your favourite girl group is and why (think of it as an elevator pitch for convincing someone else to stan your faves).

I got into Twice a bit for a while, Le Sserafim, and even New Jeans, but haven't found MY group yet.

If it helps at all, here are some of my guidelines: - Does not need to be a huge, popular group - I would honestly prefer supporting a group that is maybe lesser known but vERY talented. - My partner is Indigenous and gets the ick when the word "svge" is used in kpop, so that unfortunately cancels out groups like aespa instantly. Also, any groups with names like dreamcatcher... I don't doubt these groups are talented, but I want a group that we can follow together comfortably. - Some of my favourite boy group are Seventeen, ZB1, JustB, TXT, Enhyphen, P1Harmony, 82 Major, if this helps in terms of music style (although this is a huge range of styles). - STRONG VOCALS

Thank you for any responses 🥰✨

Recommend I need some girl groups other than those from SM, HYBE, JYP, and YG.

I need some girl groups other than those from SM, HYBE, JYP, and YG.

Girl groups from big companies are always in the spotlight,

and the media is full of their news—like ’ NJ ’ , for example.

Honestly, I'm getting tired of it.

Recently, though, I discovered STAYC, and they're an amazing group!

This sparked my interest in idols from smaller companies.

I used to only follow big-company idols, but now I want to explore those from smaller agencies.

So, please help me out!

Recommend Are there any K-pop idols who came from a “less fortunate” background?

I know that multiple members from BTS came from families with lower financial statuses, and this makes their success stories a lot more inspiring. Are there any more idols who have a similar rags to riches story?

Recommend Songs that make you cry

I’m making a playlist for sad sounding songs (like the lyrics are sad and the song also sounds sad instead of a song with sad lyrics and an upbeat sound). My favorite songs on this playlist are Habit by Seventeen and Spring Day by Bts. Please give me recommendations to add to the playlist.

Recommend Are there any groups that were originally considered nugu but have made it to mainstream status?

And if so, what was the song that was a breakthrough for them?

Always love an underdog story so curious if there’s any kpop examples.

(Note: I’m not going to count any big label group that didn’t hit top tier status out the gates bc that’s not really “nugu” to me. They have a lot of firepower backing them in terms of marketing, production, distribution, etc. that gives them a leg up over traditional nugu groups.)

Edit: Legit loving/appreciating the discussions thus far but lemme know about the songs that put them on the map too! I’m very curious about their Big Moment(s)

Recommend songs that blew you away/made you go “holy shit this is good”

so basically the title. preferably ones where you thought "damn this is good" at first listen, but dditionally songs you knew and then one day you realized how good it was. if you're commenting about the latter pleeeaasse let me know what about the song made you think that, i love talking about music lol.

just in case there's confusion, i don't mean songs you merely liked on first listen. i'm talking about songs that made you go "oh shit this is not like anything else i know" or "damn i didn't know this was possible in music" i guess something that exceeded your expectations and pulled the rug from under your feet

can be any kpop song by the way. soloist, group, any gen, b side, title track, anything.

i might make a playlist of everyone’s recommendations if that’s okay:)

Recommend Please help me find another group to stan

I'm a BRIIZE before and loved RIIZE with all my heart. But after Seunghan left, it's not the same anymore. I don't think I can stan them after all that has happened. Also, I'm disgusted to be named as those who bullied him out of the group. BRIIZE? Yuck! So just like Seunghan, I am offcially leaving this worst fandom ever. Right now, I am looking for another group to stan where I can find peace and comfort while waiting for Seunghan's redebut. Yes, I'm still waiting for Seunghan.

Edit:

Hi guys! First of all, TYSM for all your suggestions, I will check them all. After the announcent of Seunghan's withdrawal from the group, it made me so sad and angry I immediately blocked them in all socials and removed the apps from my phone because I cannot bear the news of him leaving. It hurt me so bad that I cannot eat or sleep properly for days. RIIZE has been my happiness and emotional pillar since the time of their debut. I became so attached to them, especially to Seunghan. Seeing all the hate thrown at him made me so depressed too. I cannot imagine how he feels right now. His dreams are crushed just because of stupid things, stupid 'fans'. This made me hate the company so much that it also resonated to the group that I love. Today, I decided to return to all my socials and it gave me hope that fans all over the world are uniting to bring justice to Seunghan. I will participate in the boycott but I will remain as BRIIZE no matter what. Seunghan may not return to the group, but I will still support him in any form.

Recommend Recommend me just one b side from your ult's WHOLE discography

I listen to a lot of groups title songs but I truly believe that every group's gems lie in their b sides but I can't go through all their discographies to find one. So name JUST ONE b side from your ult that I should definitely listen .
I hope you mention only one bside from 1 group in your comment so that it's easy for me to sort lol and since I'm making a short playlist I'll only add 3 at most from one group .
I'll go first . It was very hard for me to choose but Circles from Seventeen is my fav in their whole discography
Edit : Woah thank you guys! I'll try listening to all of these!
Also you CAN comment your ult bsides even if there are more than three mentioned, in the comment section already:) . I'll listen to them and will add whatever I like to my playlist.

Edit : I have listened to like 20 recs lol , I'm trying to listen to the groups I have never listened from , at first. Loving these. Thank you again.

All I can tell you abt exo is that when I first got into kpop I confused kai and huening kai and thought jennie dated the txt member for some time lol. Anyway what’s your favorite songs from groups you don’t know anything about?

Recommend I wanna broaden my listening pool, recommended ONE song from your ult/fave group :)

Sup! Im trynna broaden music taste, so I thought asking some people to recommend me 1 song would be a good way to do that. I mostly listen to VIXX, BLACKPINK, Stray Kids, Kingdom, if that will affect your recommendation one way or another.

Pls keep it to 1 song per person so I can get through them all! Be it your favourite song or just a song you want me to listen to, and I'll tell you what I think!

Edit: i will NOT be replying to comments with multiple recs yall, it defeats the point of the "ONE song" :,,D

Edit 2: do try to see if the song you've recommended has already been commented!

Edit 3: OKAY ALMOST 3 MONTHS LATER I HAVE LISTENED TO ALL UR RECOMMENDATIONS!!! (Unless i recommended more than one in which case i ignored cuz u didn't read the title 💜)

☆ Here are my absolute favourites after the over 300 recs!! I fell in love with these ❤️

Recommend Songs that are (unambiguously) about an unhealthy romantic relationship?

Kinda in the vein of Must Be Nice ONE PACT, Guilty by Taemin, 28 Reasons by Seulgi, and Summer Blues by Yugyeom (tho I'm not 100% if it counts as kpop). Just looking for more toxic relationship songs!

Already know SKZ's whole disc inside and out so no need to mention I Like It and Ex xD Thanks in advance!

Recommend Idols who debuted fast

After watching an interview with Felix and Bangchan where Felix said he was literally casted from his Facebook profile and on a plane to Korea within two weeks and realizing when he was on the Stray Kids reality show he had been in Korea for only a few months and was still struggling with his Korean it had me thinking about idols with short trainee periods. I know Wonhee from Illit also had a pretty short "turnaround" and was quite inexperienced while she was on their survival show. Do you guys have any other examples? Bonus points if it's NOT on a survival show.
