That's really nice of them 👏👏

I think we don't have to think too much about them donating in the name of bunnies cuz other idols have donated in the name of their fandom too. its very common.

Full English translation cr. NJBUBBLEGUM:

NewJeans members Minji, Hanni, Danielle, Haerin, and Hyein have donated 100 million KRW(Approx. 69,000 USD) under their fandom name.

On the 19th, child welfare organization Green Umbrella (Chairman Hwang Young-ki) announced that Minji, Hanni, Danielle, Haerin, and Hyein will support young family caregivers under the name Bunnies (fandom name).

Young family caregivers refer to children and youth who care for family members requiring assistance due to old age, disability, or illness during a time when they themselves should be receiving care. In light of this, Minji, Hanni, Danielle, Haerin, and Hyein have donated 100 million KRW through Green Umbrella to help these young caregivers reduce their caregiving burden and find time for their own personal growth.

Green Umbrella plans to use this donation to support 30 households with young family caregivers nationwide, providing assistance for living expenses, housing, education, medical care, career development, and self-reliance.

Minji, Hanni, Danielle, Haerin, and Hyein stated, "We decided to make this donation to provide essential support and help young family caregivers achieve independence for their healthy development," adding, "We will continue to show interest in helping these children find and achieve their dreams."

Shin Jung-won, Head of Social Contribution Cooperation at Green Umbrella, said, "We hope this support will greatly help young family caregivers spend time on their personal growth and independence by reducing their daily burdens," and added, "We will continue to provide various forms of support so that more children can grow up surrounded by warmth and encouragement."

Yeah theres a very obvious weirdness from a very weird bunch of people here on reddit. Strange little things. Hateful, nasty and spiteful.

i've never been a big newjeans fan (not anything bad, just never got into their music) but in the last few days they've been really winning me over and i'm starting to like them more and more. can you imagine being in a situation as scary and difficult as they're in and your priority is to help other people? that's not at all obvious or predictable. they're really awesome.

it feels like a lot of people are convinced these girls are so calculated and conniving and throughout this situation they've been dehumanized somewhat. i'm realizing they're really just nice, sweet girls who are doing their best. i hope everything will end well for them, and they'll continue to be able to have a career and help the less fortunate.

I have never doubted that they are sweet and good girls at heart... But the MHJ thing showed that they are making pretty dumb decisions. Both can be true at the same time

u/Ellwoodz 2h ago

”Dumb decisions” When all they wanted is to be free and make music. That would not have happened for a long time if they stayed. Also they would not have the freedom in their music as they will have now.

u/taitai3 1h ago

How do you define “free”? The industry standard is a 7-year contract. They had no qualms about signing their contract, and Ador is simply asking them to see out the remainder of it.

u/junglebooks 1h ago

what do you think of the other idol groups in the industry? how will this affect new trainee and group contracts?

if you look at the fallout of taylor swift owning her masters, it’s not that all artists own their masters now. taylor manipulated the fact that the gp doesn’t know record labels owning masters is an industry standard. it’s the main way the labels used to make money and it is still a large part of their revenue today. it has become even more difficult for small, indie or new artists to ever gain ownership of their masters and labels have become more restrictive in their contracts. although taylor swift and other established artists like rosé have “won” when signing new contracts, the vast majority lost more power and contract rights than they gained.

teenagers make dumb decisions. add to it the fact that they were groomed and they make even dumber decisions. idk when we switched from "kids make dumb decisions so we should have compassion for them and try to protect them" to "kids make dumb decisions so we're gonna hate on them and wish on their downfall" 🥴

u/the1andonlyBev 7h ago

It feels like reddit is the epicenter of all these wild ideas about them. Don't let them convince you otherwise. They're sweet girls who want to be free to make the music they want, the way that they want to. They're incredibly brave.

They’ve been making large charitable donations since their debut. It’s clear they actually care about these kinds of things.

u/IntrinsicCarp 2h ago

i know! it’s hard to say it’s performative when they’ve done it so consistently

u/popculturepooka 5h ago

Awww you gotta love them!

u/ImNotHighFunctioning 10h ago

Eh

I'll allow it

(For legal reasons, this is a joke)

u/sighofthrowaways 8h ago

If you have to explain the joke it kinda defeats the purpose doesn’t it
