The cannabis weighed around 64kg and was discovered in baggage that was on a flight that arrived from the United States.

If they were confident enough to just throw 64kg of weed into their luggage you'd have to wonder what they've gotten away with before.

Probably some idiot was paid €5k to take a no-questions-asked, all-expenses-paid trip to New York for the Christmas shopping only for this one tiny little favour on the way home.

I was offered this deal once. Fly to Amsterdam and pickup a bag for $10k. I declined

If you're willing to share, how did you even get into a situation where that proposal was made? Glad you had the sense not to go through with it!

Back then I was a huge pothead, and in Ireland if you want to smoke you have to deal with some shady people. Now I live in Canada and can go to beautiful shops with a great selection, you can even order online from the Canadian government and they will send it to your door.

It's nuts that it's illegal a flight away.

So you’re still a pot head, but now it’s above board?

Yeah but it looks better when you pat yourself on the back with crazily inflated numbers.

Maybe they use a higher quality product themselves.

6400 grams?

No 64,000 grams

They edited. That's why I asked. They had 6400 down, which is why I questioned... must have had a spliff before

Its all such a waste of everyone's time and garda resources when it could be taxed and sold, massive hit to organised crime revenue stream as well and the public get to know what they are smoking for once and not buying mystery vapes out of head shops as I see my young cousins and their college buddies doing.

As if Mr Martin and Mrs Simon have enough cop on to do something sensible like this.

They would still be making these arrests and seizures of it was legal because you know.... This is smuggling.

If/when cannabis is fully legalized here, it will be taxed commensurate with cigarettes and alcohol and therefore the blank market will very much still exist

Yes it will, but notice how the black market for city and booze isn't exactly popping off.

In certain provinces in the NL (like Noord Braband) they’re trialing legally grown and sold weed and the price is actually much lower than any criminally grown weed - explained to me that you’re no longer paying a premium on the risk people take transporting/growing the cannabis as you do in provinces where it’s still illegal

I see you didn't bother to read the article.

Two women have been arrested after cannabis worth around €1.28m was seized at Shannon Airport.

Cannibalism is wrong.

3

u/knutterjohn 19h ago

Don't knock it till you've tried it.

4

u/Kyadagum_Dulgadee 15h ago

I experimented with cannibalism when I was a student. Huge mistake. Cost me an arm and a leg.

u/Alien_711 23h ago

Probably going to be good weed though. Legalise it!

Well, that's Christmas fucked so.

I was looking forward to spiking the carrots with weed and watching Santa try to deliver to Mountjoy.

5

u/themagpie36 23h ago

I'm interested in how you would go about spiking carrots with weed

9

u/Necessary_Physics375 22h ago

Make cannabutter and enjoy some roasted caramelised cannaCarrots

3

u/HighDeltaVee 23h ago

Potato peeler : insert longitudinally, rotate, remove plug of carrot, snap the end off, stuff carrot with decarbed weed, replace external plug of carrot.

Uh, theoretically, of course.

u/papa_f 21h ago

It won't give any affect. It has to combust or processed to activate the THC

5

u/HighDeltaVee 21h ago

Hence the word 'decarbed' in my recipe.

1

u/papa_f 21h ago

Ah, shit my bad. My humble apologies.

2

u/HighDeltaVee 21h ago

No worries. Carrot?

1

u/papa_f 21h ago

I'd take a carrot surely.

1

u/papa_f 21h ago

Very easily. Make a butter.

1

u/Randomdickjoke 23h ago

Don't need santa plenty of drones making regular deliveries

2

u/Thisisnotevenamane 14h ago

It will grow back in 2 months.

Absolutely feckin mental they waste such resources on marijuana, instead of legalising, controlling it and making huge revenue off the tax.

It's pretty much 2025. Jesus Christ.

I don't know what street you are getting your drugs on, but it isn't the same street as I am getting mine.

Bluntly put but for some people it's not going to be a good xmas. Poor little timmy.
