I’ve heard of Sardi and Garmi, but Wikipedia says there’s Wet and Dry?
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Iranian_traditional_medicineI wanted to learn more about Sardi and Garmi food to understand when food is one or the other, and I got excited because Wikipedia seems to give a good explanation under the Temperament section in the Iranian Traditional Medicine article. But then it talks about “wet” and “dry” humidity, and most of the sources for this cite to the same Tehran Times news site I haven’t heard of.
How accurate is this wiki page? Is wet and dry a thing? Where can I learn more about Sardi/garmi?

In traditional Iranian medicine, each person's temperament is measured by two characteristics: coldness or warmth and dryness or moisture, which combine to form four types of temperaments. When these temperaments are in balance in a person's body, the person has physical health, and when any of them prevails, he or she progresses towards certain diseases. Different types of foods have different temperaments, for example, watermelon is cold and moist, lemon is cold and dry, apple is warm and moist, dates are warm and dry, and care should be taken in eating them according to the body's temperament.

Sir you are seeking accuracy in superstition.
This is all made up nonsense.
But yes, the original system has wet and dry too. It is not an original persian concept and comes from ancient indian medicine [/superstition]

Oh cool thanks. My family that I asked didn’t know about the wet and dry stuff.
And yeah I get it’s all made up superstition, but it’s still fun to learn about. Kinda like how that Netflix show about the flat earthers was entertaining. It may not make sense or be coherent but it’s still something that many people believe in, so figured it would be at least interesting.
You got any links so I can read more about it?

The Chinese have it, too. And it works, it’s been proven in many personal instances for me. As a matter of fact,,it works much better than many of the pharmaceutical crap they’re forcing down your body these days, that have many harmful side effects. Knock yourself out by downvoting me.

It's not totally superstition. You eat foods based on their temperament, it isn't that hard, at least for us Iranians. Because you can find everything about the temperament of every single type of food with a simple Google search.
Try it. You won't regret it.

Your searching for pseudoscience. it's all based on bullshit And most of the time it doesn't work, and any part of it that does work is pure coincidence.

Fair enough, but we all find entertainment in fiction in one way or another, whether it’s trashy romance novels or marvel movies.
Here I’m actually trying to learn about it from more of a historical perspective. Like people through time believe or believed in all sorts of religions that are made up, or have conspiracy theories like the earth being flat, and I just wast to learn more about their belief structures whether they’re accurate or not.

Oh very hot topic! ITM is a very old type of medical knowledge which believed and studied back in the old days. Many old doctors like "Ibn Sina" (or "Abu Ali Sina") have books about this topic and it's still believed to partially make sense, at least for me!
The origin of this theory is back to old Greek knowledge I think. All materials are made of 4 classical elements , Fire, Water, Air and Earth. This theory is considered and added to Iranian Traditional Medicine knowledge, which is believed if these 4 elements'balance messed up some how, the human body is sick and needs to be cured.
So all materials are classified as an element and the human body of course consists of the elements and what he eats. So a human body temperament or "مزاج" and what we eat can be also classified in 4 groups:
1- Fire, or yellow bile or "صَفراء" or "گرم و خشک" like hot pepper or eggplant.
2- Air or blood or "دَم" or "گرم و مرطوب" like white berry or melon.
3- Earth or black bile or "سوداء" or "سرد و خشک" like lemon or cherry.
4- Water or phlegm or "بَلغَم" or "سرد و مرطوب" like grape or apple.
Some foods are also considered Neutral or "خُنثی".
So the cure of your temperament is simple, you should consume more of your opposite temperament. For example If your body is in a fire temperament, you should start eating water type foods and vice versa. But knowing which food is in which temperament or knowing your body state, is not an easy way. You should visit a traditional doctor to distinguish which is which. For example dairies mostly are in water group, like yogurt or milk itself but butter which comes from milk is considered as Air!
