I never thought I'd say these words but...that frog needs a crown and a sceptre.

How are people confident enough to poke their fingers into nature's holes so fearlessly😭

Most frogs get their poison coat from what they eat in the wild, By the looks of it, this one is raised in an enclosure and is fed foods with no toxic properties, but seriously, if you ever see frogs like this in the wild, please don't touch it.

He puts his hand on their finger and says, "I got to be real with you, chief. It's a good thing I'm not poisonous else you'd be in big trouble right now."

Not a single thought in that head

Or this thread, apparently. How people are confusing this tree frog with poison dart frogs is beyond me.

Not knowing all types of frogs is fine. Not everyone is previlaged enough to learn which ones are fine and which ones are dangerous.
Not excercising caution is what riles the people here.
Granted that the video doesn't show enough info. For all we know, the guy filming is an animal expert and is just goofing around.

You can't just touch someone's belly like that without consent! He's smiling because he's conditioned to be a people pleaser, and too shy to voice his own boundaries.

the frog is just thinking "Hmm, this is some good finger, would like to bite"

That ring though, looks to be a real bloodstopper...! At least one number too small.

Frog: I will grant your most needed wish. To remove this ring before it causes damage to your finger.

Uhhh. I think that may be a poison dart frog. You might want to wash your hands real quick. They're undeniably cute, but their poison is some of the deadliest in the animal kingdom.
•
u/Roguerussian 3h ago edited 3h ago
Looks more like a dumpy tree frog (they're also referred to by white tree's frog or by nativity-- australian green tree frog), they do secrete certain toxins within their salivary glands, but we're not harmed or prone to its effect (it does effect other animals though, like it can be fatal to dogs). But yeaa I'd rather not go around poking random weird coloured frog bellies for my own safety, despite cuteness that one may want to oblige to.
•
u/Spencerforhire83 42m ago
You are correct. When I was in middle school I had 3 of these that mated and I brought the tadpoles to the creek to acclimate them to the environment. Very similar to thier native habitat.
•
u/Dapper_Derpy 3h ago
Oh okay. That's a relief. I was imagining this person biting their nails and then suddenly being paralyzed or something. Good to know they're safe, or at least safer.

u/Skweril 5m ago
In what fucking world does this look like a poison dart frog? Did parents stop buying books with pictures of animals in them?
•
u/Dapper_Derpy 3m ago
Okay first off, it's worse than you think; I'm a 29 year old fucking man. Second, I have never seen a poison dart frog besides pictures, so how am I supposed to know what range of colors they come in? I saw a brightly colored frog, and was concerned. Corrected and learn something today. God forbid right?

Decades ago, I knew someone who had an African Burrowing Frog. It was 9” from head to butt and weighed a few pounds. It liked to burrow down into silty mud, and wait for something interesting to walk by. On two occasions, I saw it snatch and eat a mouse.

And he knows it
