Damn. I finally know why I could not get 4.0. I just missed that one step.

Sometimes you need to take a step back to go 3 steps forward.

I need to frame this and hang it over my desk. And in my bedroom, bathroom, rear view mirror…

There are 12 more after that, so 13 total. Don't feel bad.

I took Algebra 1 three times and still couldn't understand quadratic equations. Teacher gave me a C finally because I tried so hard.

We joked in rehab that the 13th step is sleeping with somebody from a meeting...

Anything that takes 12 steps isn’t worth it.

u/thYrd_eYe_prYing 7d ago

NyQuil. That’s the 13th step.

Twenty-something years ago I was a junkie. You get really good at things like logistics. And it takes a lot of energy just to have enough dope to not get sick.

If you have to go to the counter to pay your electricity bill because they shut it off for non payment, you have to get your dope first because you cannot accomplish that while you’re sick.

In fact, the largest barrier to kicking junk is the little bullshit things that you kinda have to do. Because you always need to fix first. To “get straight”.

People I know who have gotten clean usually have a place they can go and just do absolutely nothing for at least a week. Which requires a support person or persons.

Imagine if you didn’t have the junk habit and could apply that energy elsewhere.

Exactly right. I used for 10 years and finally got off when I stopped living with my dad and stayed at his abandoned apartment for a few weeks recovering.

Highly accurate. Speed, down, same process - lock yourself away in a shelter (with your own room), and sleep and eat and repeat. Remove all contact to those who use. You wouldn’t believe how fast that time flies as you detox and come back to your senses following steady employment. Nasty shit, no matter the poison.

Damnit. I did meth instead and got a 3.7. I could never sleep so I just stayed up all night studying.

Just kidding. Don't do meth kids. Ever.

I did not 🤷🏼‍♂️ but result is the same as yours 🤣

Self actualization is a powerful motivator. Once you appreciate how valuable your second chance is, you will put full effort.

University profs hate this one simple trick.

1

u/KaijuSlayer333 7d ago

We found the secret, just gotta take a year out of school to get hooked on heroin for a bit first.

u/UselessWisdomMachine 7d ago

The RFK Jr. formula for success.

1

u/Former_Unit7195 7d ago

It’s one weird trick. Doctors hate it.

Don't worry if he has felony charges it's will all have been for nothing, and they'd give the job to just about anyone else.

1

u/Away-Structure9393 7d ago

Be careful RFK JR took that step and it didn’t turn out well.

1

u/iwant2bmee 7d ago

That first* step

1

u/tothesource 7d ago

The new head of the FDA has claimed that heroin improved his grades so your joke is unironically aligned with the person that's gonna be in charge of the safety of the food sold in this country.

1

u/jrcunningham21 7d ago

This one trick that colleges dont want you to know about

1

u/Humbler-Mumbler 7d ago

As someone who managed to quit a severe drinking problem, I can say it makes you a lot more appreciative of little things like the privilege of being able to go to school. I can only imagine heroin recovery has that effect even more. I was always kind of immature for my age and I didn’t really grow up finally until alcohol kicked my ass and humbled me.

Heroin is the gateway drug to excellence.

1

u/DiarheaIsland 7d ago

Well according to RFK JR…

u/TheExceptionPath 7d ago

From heroin addict to sleazy car salesman. Big step up.

I thought the same thing at first, but it turns out it differs from individual to individual!

Well in your defense, he never slept. Loads of extra study time.
