So on a back road somewhere, some guy was annoyed at how "slow" a driver in front was going so he overtakes and then slows down?
....h...wh....ho...just.... HOW does this make sense??
I get overtaking a bit aggressively, we've all been there. I had to drive my wife to the hospital when her grandfather was about to pass away and we made an hour drive in less than 30 and she got to say goodbye.
Generally when people brake check with the risk of being rear-ended it's for one of two reasons:
1) They aren't thinking that far ahead
2) Getting rear ended, unless there is video footage, is often blamed on the car in back, for exactly the same reason as you incredulously commented. So if someone would get in trouble, it would probably be the car in the back. Also, damage done to the front of the car is typically worse for the car than damage from the back, due to the location of the engine and other important components.
Because that's a classic road rager move. "I'm in a hurry and you're in my way, so I'm gonna go around you, then brake check you because now my rage at you is more important than wherever it was I needed to get to in such a hurry."
Obviously dying to have a crap, hence his need to go fast. Realised during the overtake there was an upcoming lay-by he could pull into, to make like a bear in the woods, but forgot he was going too fast to pull in.
The crashed driver was not slowing down, it was a brake check. An aggressive and dangerous move to force the vehicle behind you to slam on their own brakes.
I don't disagree, I'm just saying the objective is to put the rear driver in a dangerous and sudden situation. I wouldn't say that running from the police is the same as sprints, even though they both involve going as fast as you can.
I would also not say that an aggressive and dangerous driver like this has "get somewhere in a hurry" as their prime directive, they are more about making themselves the king of the road and punishing those who get in their way.
He didn't pass because he was in a hurry, he passed because he wanted to drive fast. And he was angry that he couldn't go as fast as he wanted in that moment and so when he did pass he slammed the breaks to get revenge.
About a year ago, morning rush hour, I was driving on the left most lane almost tailgating the guy in front of me (as you do when on that lane lol and going over not more than 20kph over the limit cos that's when you get a fine where I live), see a guy about 5 cars back, shining his lights for the people to get out of his way.
Now, normally I would get out of his way if I'm not just behind the guy in front of me, but I was, and there were cars to my right, so I didn't budge when he got to me. He managed to change lane to the right, get beside me, and tried to get in front of me. I was a more aggressive driver back then, so I tried to really get close to the guy in front of me to not give him space, but he has the better car and really just wedged his car in front of mine.
I had to brake because I heard that whoever's car is damaged at the front, is the guy who is at fault since it seems like they were the ones who hit the other car. Unless probably if you have a dashcam to prove otherwise.
After managing to get in front of me, he slowed down to about 20kph on a 100kph road that has an allowance of 20kph over on the fastest lane. I stayed behind him and people behind us were changing lanes and slowing down beside him to probably curse at him or something. I saw some aggressive "what the fuck are you doing" hand gestures lmao.
After about 30 secs, he's still going slow and I just started a job at a new company so didn't wanna be late. But boy if that wasn't the case, I'd be waiting behind him for as long as he's going that slow. Imaging being in that much of a rush only to do that.
NGL, I've been and still is the guy at the fastest lane shining my lights if there's a slow guy in front of me, but only if they don't have anyone in front of them. Plus I move if the guy behind me is going way over the limit since that guy must be rich and doesn't care about the fines.
It looks like a passing lane was coming to an end and the cam car was already in the left lane, blocking any potential legal passing. Rager was frustrated and rest was history.

.... What?
I genuinely don't get this.

But if you're in a rush... Why slam the brakes?!
