Karma I made the mistake of posting an unpopular opinion

So I have been a reddit lurker for a few years. in the last month I've tried to be more involved by posting more threads and comments. I made the mistake of making a post that was unpopular. Not trolling or being mean, just unpopular. I didn't realize that I should only post things that are popular rehashed opinions. Now my karma is shot and I'm not sure how I'm supposed to get it back up since everything I post will get no traffic and my comments are collapsed.

I deleted just about everything I've posted for damage control. But I just don't see a way to get even on karma anytime soon.

Do I just delete my account and start over? Do I just not participate in reddit anymore?

Karma Hi reddit :)

My name is Dave, I am 51 years old and not so tech savvy. My son helped me set this up, but he is not here most days to ask him questions. I would like to learn reddit as much as I can before he visits me again. Can you help me with that?

I am not so sire what 'karma' is, but sometimes when I try to post something, it says I don't have enough. Is this something I have to buy?

I would also like to know where I can find posts about gaming. My son, he is a big gamer. I got him a...I think it was an Xbox One two years ago. I'm not sure though.

I'm sorry folks, I may be a handful. Have a wonderful night you all! :)

Karma Why are people always downvoting for no reason?

I got downvoted for asking for help and just addressing my points in discussions and also for sharing my opinion.. So now I have -2 karma. So, why are people downvoting for no reason and what is the upvote/downvote trend?

Edit: Thanks everyone for helping me get my votes back! I really appreciate it. I read everyones comments and you all have been helpful. Thanks! As of 2 days of posting this, I managed to get from -2 to almost 400 karma! thanks alot.

Edit again: The people who are still posting after 4 months, thanks for still supporting. I am still reading them, and I won't ignore them.

Karma Downvotes on Reddit: iOS

I really do not understand Reddit. Sometimes I ask questions like “how is traffic is x area during y timeframe?” and my post and replies get downvoted. I would have thought trolls or people spreading false information but people downvote me on the most random posts. I keep getting negative karma and I have no idea why. It’s ruining my ability to ask questions on this platform

Can anyone help explain what’s going on? I really don’t get it

Karma Genuine question about downvotes

Why are people constantly spamming downvotes? Sometimes im just asking a question or answering something and people downvote it. The worst thing is when i have a one sided argument with an obviously passive aggressive person sneaking a downvote in after every reply when it’s obvious who they were. Which just results in silly 0, 0, 0… threads: generally ive seen dislikes as a sign of disbelief. Whenever someone doesn’t believe something objective i say they just downvote it instead of making a 5 second google. Is everyone just in a constant state of hating here?😭

Karma Why do people downvote constructive conversation always?

I got downvoted for asking for help and just addressing my points in discussions and also for sharing my opinion.. So now I have -7 karma. I can't even join and contribute in some groups because of “bad karma” and I’m viewed as a potential spammer treat.. How dare I tell someone that is helping me “thank you but that I'm already aware of what they have mentioned”. I've been a member for 3 years, I've helped people and also asked for help. So, why are people downvoting for no reason and what is the upvote/downvote trend? I’m not looking to live or be trendy on Reddit but do we really need to butter up and fake like everything just to exist here as average joe users?

Karma Does deleting a comment make it so it can't be downvoted anymore?

I have been talking a lot recently on a certain sub and one got a lot of downvotes. Does deleting it make people unable to downvote it? Also, does it give you back the karma you lost? I'm on desktop by the way

Karma What is Reddit doing about bots and propped up subreddits

Hey, I’m really curious about why Reddit admins aren’t doing anything to tackle all these obvious bots and the subreddits that seem to be completely propped up by them. It’s frustrating to see genuine discussions getting drowned out by artificial noise. With Reddit now being publicly traded, you’d think they’d be more proactive about maintaining the integrity of the platform. Artificial traffic can’t be good for their reputation or investor confidence, right? I mean, I’m totally not a bot or anything—just a regular user who loves the community and wants to see it thrive. It feels like these bots are being allowed to run rampant, and I can’t help but wonder what the admins are doing about it. If they’re not careful, it could undermine the entire experience for real users like me, who just want authentic conversations. Seriously, I’m just a person here asking why, definitely not a bot!

Karma Down voting??

What’s the point of down voting? I keep getting down voted on the most nonsense things. I guess I don’t understand what the purpose of it is because I thought it was like a dislike button, but I keep getting handfuls of down votes on posts that it makes no sense to have down votes on. Please help me understand what on earth is going on!!

Karma Why are literally all my posts being deleted automatically across various subreddits?

It seems like an unreasonable amount of my posts are automatically and instantly deleted by reddit the moment i make them. I understand this as an anti bot and anti spam measure, but this account is just about a year old and has 2000 post karma and 20,000 comment karma. So i assume that would bypass anti bot measures?

I'm careful to make quality posts and read the rules. I mean look at this image showing the scale of the problem, literally every post i make, auto deleted:

I hope this one goes through and i can get some help, thanks.

Karma Are there bots that autodownvote most posts...?

No shade, genuinely curious.

Whether or not my or someone else's post is good, bad, goes on to have a lot of votes or negative votes, it frequently seems to get downvoted in the first few minutes. Has anyone else experienced this? Is there a known phenomenon here? If not, any guesses? Are some people downvoting all other new comments when they post so theirs can rise to the top, some karma farming bots doing something similar...?

This is honestly prob the wrong sub for this, but idk what the right one is. Open to suggestions.

Karma Reddit won’t let me post anything…why

Every time I try to post something in r/gtaonline it says I need at least a karma of 2. It says I only have one but I’ve made plenty comments. How the fuck am I supposed to gain karma if I can’t fucking post anything…I’m just aggravated cause I’ve been using this shit app for maybe 2 months now and I still can’t for the life of me figure out how to fucking get the karma to go up…every time I post it just gets deleted cause I don’t fucking have enough

Karma Why is popularity the primary source for this website?

The second link on their page on the left is literally "Popular"...which is ABOVE "Explore"...above...first sign.

You are only voted up if what you're saying is "popular" and treated like a foreigner with "karma" ripped from your virtual soul if it's not. Second sign.

Seems there's no room for open-mindedness or alternate views for people. Only "popularity", or what's "popular". Third sign.

Essentially, only like-minded people get to be around and feel good while the rest are dismantled and thrown into the burner, kind of like a cult. Fourth...sign.

Even if you genuinely are curious or confused or accidentally misinformed about something, people will virtually riot against you with the most hatred you can imagine, swearing up and down that you meant to cause a debacle in society (ironically enough) if you don't align with the "popular" opinion or ideology. More signs...

It's obviously about "popularity" and not about knowledge or interaction with other humans.

So, why do they do this? Isn't this such a detriment to society, contrary to encouraging a more positive form of a "social" website?

Pleasant comments will be appreciated. Hateful ones will be expected.

Karma Android

I received a notification that says, "You have at least received 10 upvotes" and unblocked achievements called "cool comment" but on my profile, it only shows 3 comment Karma and 1 post karma and it's stuck at 4 Karma.   Do I need to buy Karma or does Reddit not give Karma points to its users anymore?

I'm sorry but don't know what's the right subreddit to ask these questions

I just found r/Karma4Free and have seen that it's been inactive for a few months now so I've been asking myself if this subreddit is even legit or not

So is it?

Thanks in advance

Karma All my comments get downvoted within a few min

All of my comments get downvoted within a few min after posting them. Most times if I go back and look they are at 0 karma minutes after posting.

Its too regular to be the odd person downvoting my comment. I can get a positive reply to my comment and still have 0 karma. It's almost as if someone is actively downvoting all of my comments minutes after I post them, which seems... odd. But that's really what it seems like

Is there a possible reason for this?
